I was going to analyze the Dodger Bullpen today, but WOW, they have a lot of bullpen options . so since I am not done, I will do that next week. I will not be surprised if Friedman adds another bullpen arm or two, but it s very likley the Dodger bullpen could be great next season without any additions. The bigger question is: What will happen at the Winter Meetings? We
MLB.com named the Top 10 Rotations in baseball and the Cleveland Indians were listed as #1 with Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, Trevor Bauer, Mike Clevinger and Shane Bieber. The Dodgers were listed as #2 and the Nationals were listed as #3. I am going to take issue with that for several reasons: The Indians are likely to trade one of those pitchers. Almost NEVER does a team just use 5 pitchers during a sesaon .
With the 2018 World Series now a fading memory in our minds it will soon be time to pay more attention to the upcoming June Amateur Draft. Maybe I misspoke, and the 2018 World Series is only fading in my mind. The speculation on what the Dodgers will do with trades and/or free agent signing is running rampant. Some of those questions will perhaps be answered soon with the
The Bryce Harper rumors are growing, but even with Dodger officials traveling to Las Vegas to meet with him, What happens in Vegas, will likely stay in Vegas! Just my opinion. There will likely be some more player movement by the Dodgers this offseason, but I believe that Andrew Friedman is right the Dodgers really don t need much, and they certainly don t need to make changes just for the
Well we are now in December, less than one week away from the Winter Meeting, and the Dodgers have Kevin Quackenbush and Adam McCreery. So, I guess the Dodgers are all set. Andrew Co. addressed the bullpen, what else can anyone else want? I have been scouring the internet to catch word that the Dodgers pulled off a trade for JT Realmuto or Corey Kluber. Or if Andrew
So far, this year is beginning to mimic last year a bit. There has been some movement, but it is for the lesser thought of FA or in one case a player who wants a bigger pay day next year (Josh Donaldson). It seems that a lot of teams are looking for the trade route first before even considering a high cost FA. Look for Harper and Machado to
A bit of a busy day today so I found it difficult to sit down and write. I had an idea that would take quite a bit of time but 2demeter2 and dionysis came to the rescue with their mention on another thread of the Loons 2018 shortstop. I have a few names on my list that includes Deacon Liput. Another is Luke Heyer, but Deacon draws the short straw
Many people blame Andrew Friedman and/or Farhan Zaidi for the demise of the Dodgers bullpen in 2018. They surmise that they failed to adequately equip the pen with the requisite number and quality of arms. Actually, demise is a pretty harsh word. The Dodgers and the Red Sox, the two World Series teams, both finished the regular sesaon with identical 3.72 Bullpen ERA s. The Dodgers did have the better WHIP
This article is put together quickly and is just intended to help tell the story of some of those behind the launch angle fad or fashion. That is, some of those who have helped develop the hitting technique which has been around for quite some time but has only recently come out as not being heretical in its opposition to long standing hitting fundamentals. “Launch angle” has become
Some eyebrows were raised when news broke that the Dodgers were contemplating hiring 32-year-old Robert Van Scoyoc as their new hitting coach. Perhaps those eyebrows are still raised and locked into position waiting to see how things play out. One argument expressing doubt is that he has never played major league baseball so perhaps lacks the understanding of hitting at that level. I’m not sure that makes much difference
In case you have been hiding under a rock, we are now engaged in the Baseball Hot Stove League where fans talk about trading everybody and his brother, sister, aunt, uncle, grandpa, grandma as the family dog. It s fun and we all engage in it to some degree. But, there are two rules you have to go by: #1 Believe half of what you see and none of what you
I am sitting continuing to try to understand how the Board of Trustees and the AD at USC have chosen to retain perhaps the most over his head coach in all of NCAA Football, Clay Helton. Rudy mentioned that both Westwood and South Bend are cheering loudly, but my radar has all of the Pac 12 and South Bend laughing at this. Oh well, enough pity party for me. It’s
