Terms of Service

Last updated

Welcome to LA Dodger Talk, where you can disagree as long as you’re not disagreeable. These terms cover reading the site and taking part in the discussion. By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

1. Who runs the site

LA Dodger Talk (ladodgertalk.com) is operated by Mark Timmons (“we”, “us”). It is an independent fan site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Major League Baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers or any team. Team names and marks belong to their owners and are used only to identify the subject of our coverage.

2. Using the site

Reading is free and needs no account. Please don’t misuse the site. That includes trying to break into it, overloading it, scraping it in bulk, getting around our spam and security measures, or using it to break the law.

3. Our content

Articles, images and other material published by LA Dodger Talk and its writers are protected by copyright. You’re welcome to read, share links to, and quote short excerpts of our articles with credit and a link back. Please don’t republish whole articles, or use our content commercially, without written permission.

Opinions in articles and comments belong to their authors. Our coverage is commentary and analysis for entertainment and discussion. Don’t rely on it for betting, financial or other decisions.

4. Commenting

You must be at least 13 years old to comment. When you post, you agree to give a real email address (it is never published; see the Privacy Policy) and to follow the community rules below.

Community rules: disagree, not disagreeable

  • Argue with ideas, not people. No personal attacks, harassment or bullying.
  • No hate speech, slurs, or attacks based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar characteristics.
  • No threats, and no encouraging violence or self-harm.
  • No posting other people’s private information, and no pretending to be someone else, including our writers.
  • No spam, scams, malware or repetitive self-promotion.
  • No sexually explicit material.
  • Don’t post anything you don’t have the right to share, such as copied articles or other people’s photos.
  • Keep it reasonably on topic. It’s a Dodgers site.

Moderation

Comments are screened automatically for spam and suspicious links. Comments from new commenters, or comments with links, may be held for review before they appear. Readers can flag comments, and enough flags will send a comment back for review. Our writers and editors may approve, hide or remove any comment, and may restrict anyone who repeatedly breaks these rules, at our discretion and without notice. We aren’t obliged to publish or keep any comment.

Editing your comments

You can edit your own comments from the browser you posted them from. We keep earlier versions in a private history so moderators can see what was changed. To have a comment removed, email editors@ladodgertalk.com.

Your rights in what you post

You keep ownership of your comments. By posting, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to host, display, reproduce and distribute your comment on and in connection with LA Dodger Talk. That includes its archive and any future versions of the site. You confirm that you have the right to post what you post. You’re responsible for your comments. They reflect your views, not ours.

5. Writer and editor accounts

Accounts are for LA Dodger Talk contributors only and are granted by us. Contributors sign in with Google, are responsible for activity on their account, and must keep their published work within these terms. We can change or remove access at any time.

6. Sponsors, links and embedded content

The site shows sponsor placements and links to, and embeds from, other sites such as YouTube, Vimeo and X. Sponsor placements are advertising, not editorial endorsement. We don’t control other sites and aren’t responsible for their content, products or privacy practices.

7. Copyright complaints

If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, email editors@ladodgertalk.com. Include:

  • the work you believe is being infringed
  • the link to the material on our site
  • your contact details
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorised
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner
  • your physical or electronic signature

We’ll review it and remove the material if it is infringing.

8. Disclaimers

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it accurate and running, but we don’t promise that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or always current. Scores, stats, rosters and news can change quickly. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Mark Timmons, LA Dodger Talk and our writers won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the site or from content posted by other users. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to $100. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

10. Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of content you posted, or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim, as far as the law allows.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Indiana, and you and we both agree to those courts’ jurisdiction.

12. Changes and termination

We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the site afterwards means you accept the new terms. We may suspend or end anyone’s ability to comment for breaking these terms. If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.

13. Contact
