Nearly 70 years ago, the Dodgers brought in a red-headed announcer who, moment-by-moment, play-by-play and season-by-season, gradually proceeded to set the standard by which all baseball announcers would be measured. They signed Vin Scully before he became Vin Scully. It s pretty much the same with Scully s successor. The Dodgers hired Joe Davis before he became Joe Davis, but boy-oh-boy, he is rapidly becoming Joe Davis. As a Dodger fan I
DRAFT UPDATE The 2017 MLB Draft is in the books, and the signing deadline has come and now gone. The Dodgers had 40 draft picks, and signed 33. Each of the first 13 picks signed, and 19 of the first 20 signed. 8 signed from picks 21-30, and 6 signed from picks 31-40. For comparison purposes, the Dodgers drafted 42 in 2015 and 2016, and signed 36 and 33 respectively.
Moment-by-moment, memory-by-memory, the Dodgers have did it again! Dodger Broadcaster, Joe Davis Joe has made it a lot easier not to miss Vin he s not Vin, but in case you haven t listened to the stiffs and homers other teams use, he is near the top of play-by-play baseball announcers. What a comeback and what a way to kill a snake! Now, back to the things at Hand! If the
Today, you get to pick the topic because I am just so dad gum considerate and want what is best for you. OK, that s a lie I m busy today and have early meetings. So you pick the topic. Hopefully, it will include the fact that the Rancho Cucamonga beat Madison Bumgarner like a rented mule last night: 4 IP 9 ER 4 HR Yeah, he s ready. Isabel and Mieses
Gina Lollobrigida turned 90 yesterday. Described in her prime as the most beautiful woman in the world , Lollobrigida, will be receiving a long-overdue star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year. Hopefully, I am not the only one who remembers her. What does that have to do with Andrew Friedman? Absolutely nothing except that Andrew Friedman and Company should be pretty dang beautiful in Dodger fans eyes right
Think about that for a minute. There s a lot we don t know and some of it is stuff that we know we don t know. We know the Cubs are struggling and need a couple of starting pitchers and maybe a veteran catcher, They have some pieces to trade, but they are also sitting on a really bad contract belonging to Jason Heyward. We know they have some good young prospects
It s not a sure thing that Adrian Gonzalez will be back this year. Now, it s looking like at least August. How many teams can lose $40 million dollars of salary to the DL and survive? Add in Kazmir and it s $56 million and add Crawfish and it s $77 million. Can the pundits of The Trade finally understand why it is felony stupid to give long-term deals to aging stars?
Actually Kike Hernandez is a cross between the Energizer Bunny and a Swiss Army Knife. He s kind of a Swiss Army Bunny! He just keeps going and going and he has an assortment of ways to beat you. Last night, he didn t get a hit, but he did make a great catch in RF and took a walk and scored a run. Of course we have seen him make plays
I keep reading that the Dodgers are in the hunt for a starting pitcher and frankly, I do not believe it. What I mean by that is I do not think they are hell-bent-for-leather to get another starter. That s not saying that they won t do it if the right situation presents itself, but they are simply not going to overpay to get another starter. I think AC said the same
Thursday night’s game was the official half way point in the season. So I thought it was an opportune time to look at what is right, or what is wrong, what can be fixed, or what doesn’t need fixing. With Thursday night s win, the Dodgers are 53-28. That is a projected win total of 106. They will win 94 even if they go 41-40 the rest of the way. The
That s what THEY say. It was a ball that Grandal should have caught or at least blocked and then if he made a good throw, the runner would have been out. It was really two errors on the same play. If he makes that play, they Dodgers and Angels are probably still playing right now. Nevermind that there would have been no bottom of the 9th without Yasmani s blast to
It s on Kenta Maeda. Kenta signed an incentive-laden contract with the Dodgers before the 2016 season. It s a very team-friendly contract that pays for performance. I ll spare you all the details, but the more games Kenta starts and the more innings he pitches earns him some very significant bonuses. That s how Kenta makes his money and his agent gets a percentage of that money. Do you follow where I am
