LAD Prospects Need Fans’ Patience

November 15, 2021

Much has been written about the slow start of Gavin Lux’s MLB career.  Mostly by impatient fans.  Fans get excited about players when they read stat pages, and claim them to be a can’t miss player.  Many are now talking about Andy Pages, Eddys Leonard, Miguel Vargas, Ryan Pepiot, and Bobby Miller in the same context today.  And to a lesser degree, Michael Busch, James Outman, Brandon Lewis, Landon Knack…Many…

End of an Era?

November 8, 2021

Well, let the bidding begin.  A number of publications have put out their top 50 Free Agents list.  MLBTR is one of my favorites to follow.  They are no better with their prognostications than are any other publication.  They run contests every year, and many of the readers have turned out better with picks than the writers.  One year I got 12 out of 50.  Not bad, but there were…

LAD and Free Agency???

November 6, 2021

There has been a lot of speculation about FA the Dodgers may want to re-sign or sign.  We have no idea what the CBT will be, or what the penalties will be if a team exceeds that limit with the upcoming CBA.  Currently the taxes can reach a maximum 50% for all salaries above the CBT, and can reach a total of 95% for all salaries greater than $40MM in…

MLB Dates and LAD Roster Manipulation

November 4, 2021

Now that the WS is over, the MLB calendar is set (maybe).  Maybe because we have no idea what will become of the CBA after the current CBA expires on 12-1.    Tentatively, the MLB dates: November 3 – 160 players were declared Free Agents.  The Dodgers have 11. November 3 – 7 – Free agents can only negotiate with their most recent team. November 7 – Options must be exercised….

AC Thoughts on 2021 NLCS and Free Agency

November 2, 2021

Please excuse the timing of this post.  It was written early last week, however I was rushed to the ER with what turned out to be a TIA or mini stroke.  I was in the hospital being pricked and probed for nearly three days, but came away with a clean bill of health. So now I am publishing, albeit a tad tardy. IMO there was very little difference between LAD…

I Know Many Do Not Like It, But Doc Just Keeps Winning

September 21, 2021

I know some of you are saying, “Please not another Dave Roberts post” I understand. But if you have ideas, write a post and get it to Mark and he will gladly post it. I was going to respond yesterday to Mark’s reference to Bill Shaiken’s article and some of the comments, but then as I usually do, I got long winded and decided to make it blog article.  I…

Max Scherzer and Sweep of the Padres

September 13, 2021

A couple of observations for the weekend series sweep of the Pads.  The starting pitching was obscene.  Urias 7.0 IP – 0 runs, Buehler 7.0 IP – 2 runs, Scherzer 8.0 IP – 0 runs.  In 22.0 IP the Padres scraped together 10 hits and 3 walks against the three starters.  Two shutouts for the weekend.  The Padres were never ahead for the entire weekend.  Outside of Blake Treinen’s outing…

Gavin, Belli, Doc, and Andrew

August 20, 2021

That is not the law firm defending Trevor Bauer, but it is the four most scrutinized members of the LAD organization.  I started to respond to Mark’s post from yesterday, but I got called away for errands. It then got too long for a response, so I decided to make it my own post. I am writing this before Game 1 with NYM, so this could all go to H***…

My Baseball Conspiracy Theory

August 5, 2021

There are a lot of new commenters here since I first started writing for LADT in 2017, and I guess many do not know who I am.  I will admit that this post is really out of my comfort zone. But I have been advised to push the comfort zone for better mental health. The other day, Mark intimated that I may have more contacts now than him.  I have…

Max Scherzer – Yea or Nay?

July 29, 2021

Before I answer with my position, let me do my best to lay out some of the factors assuredly being discussed in the Dodger “war rooms”. Max Scherzer is a HOF pitcher who can still bring it at 37.  He would be a front of the rotation pitcher even with the Dodgers.  This year he is 7-4 with a 2.83 ERA and an exceptional WHIP of 0.886 in 105 IP. …
