I am sure Doc will not say it, but Kenley is no longer the closer, however, he s not off the team. There won t be an official closer it will be a committee. Jansen will again be on the team next year and maybe Bazooka will be ready to close sometime next year but he s not right now.
Well that was an interesting and very long game. Dodgers won 5-1, and despite appearances (it could be called an ugly win) they, nevertheless, won in dominating fashion. There were lots of walks. Padres pitchers, threw 165 pitches in 8 innings, as they walked 10 Dodgers batters, and added a hit by pitch for good measure. Walker Buehler started for the Dodgers and almost immediately started to make Dodgers fans
I am writing this preview while watching the A’s and Astros ALDS at Dodger Stadium. The NLDS is no surprise with the Dodgers and Padres. There is some surprise that the Cubs are out, and Marlins are in, in the second NLDS. But the Marlins are experienced at getting to (and winning) the WS as a Wild Card team, so maybe it shouldn’t be that big of a surprise. For
As the Dodgers continue their quest for a World Series Championship, the possible first in over 30 years, a number of things must happen. The starting and relief pitchers must pitch well, and the hitters must hit well able to string together hits. They must play like they expect to win and not that they hope to win. That is, with confidence. They must be the hot team and not
The past eight years have been incredible for Dodger fans: Eight straight division championships and two trips to the World Series. But it was not enough the Dodgers did not win the World Series never mind that they did not win it the twenty-four years before that (cheating aside). Andrew Friedman will never get it done. Dave Roberts is an idiot. Kenley Jansen is done. Clayton Kershaw is a
When I took over the administration of LA DodgerTalk , I said that I would continue as long as I enjoyed what I was doing. The time has come for me to announce that it is no longer fun for me. I was offered an opportunity to consult on back office procedures for a non-profit company involved with School Choice, and I have decided to accept the challenge. I have
If anyone had a question about who the Dodgers Ace is, it was resoundingly answered last night with Clayton s dominance!
I have been redoing all my music on my computer. I could not download files onto my MP-3 player because they were corrupted. So I deleted them all and am re ripping them to the computer. While doing so, I was listening to a tune by Little Texas. You guessed it, the title is What Might Have Been . And I took that to apply to ball players whose careers
During the current season with all of its oddities I have been most interested in a few of the Dodger players. That is, not the big boys but those most recently to the scene. I have already written about Will Smith who might just be my new favorite Dodger. He is a player and I love his clean cut appearance and work ethic but as a high draft pick he
Admittedly I am writing this without knowing the submitted Playoff Rosters for either team, but I I am going to give it a go anyway. I have already indicated who I thought would be on the Dodgers playoff roster. But for consistency: 1B Muncy 2B CT3 3B JT SS Seager LF AJ CF Belli RF Mookie C Smith DH – Rios Bench:
A week or two back, Jeff asked if I would be willing to write an article about Jim Lefebrve, the 1965 Rookie of the year 2nd baseman. I jumped on the idea right away, as “Frenchy” was one of my favorite players when he was with the Dodgers. I thought to myself that this should fairly easy, as there was sure to be much written about Lefebvre. Surprisingly, however, despite
The Dodgers ended the season in the same way they began the season…with a convincing win. Sandwiched in between were 41 more victories, for a season record of 43-17. That calculates to a 116 win season in a 162 game season. That is a pretty good year. The Dodgers were 6.0 games better than San Diego, the team with the 2nd best record in the NL. The Dodgers were 3.0
