More from Dodger Talk

Dodgers Food Trailer
I did this interview a couple of weeks ago with Chef Mike, who runs the Dodgers Food Trailer for the Great Lakes Loons. They are there for every home and road regular season and playoff game. They prepare three meals a day for approximately 50 people (players and coaches). Since games end late most evenings, they do not prepare breakfast. Many of their hotels have a complimentary breakfast anyway. However,…

Meet LAD 2026 Draft Picks 1-12
3 picks were High School players (2 SS and 1 OF). There was a college OF, college catcher, college SS, and 10 college pitchers. Of all the talk for a need for a catcher, the only catcher the Dodgers selected was Luke Bard, son of LAD bullpen coach Josh Bard. Bard was a 4th year senior from Houston Christian University. He is not a prospect, so the Dodgers are still…

Interview with Paul Beachy – Team Bus Driver For The Great Lakes Loons (LA Dodgers Minor League Team)
It’s been a few days since I did this interview. We have evidently been working my son-in-law (the video guy) like a rented mule at US Water Systems. However, I am taking him to London with me in a few days, so maybe Watford will buy him a pint as a tip, but he’s a dang Red Sox fan, so there is that! I thought that it would be interesting…

Thanks for Your Service: Chris Taylor
I was going to do this post when Chris announced he was retiring, then he changed his mind, but since the chances of him ever playing for the Dodgers again are slim and non-existent, I will go ahead with this post. He unretired, went on the IL, then decided to call it quits on May 24th. Taylor was born in Virginia Beach VA on August 29th, 1990. He attended Great…

Disagree, not disagreeable
Interesting report about how Roberts decided to stick with Flaherty rather than bring in Banda to face Marte in the 3rd. He did so even though it was obvious from the start that Flaherty was seriously off his game in terms of velocity and control.
After losing that gamble–and the Dodgers suddenly down 8-1–Roberts elected to go with Honeywell to eat innings and save the “high leverage” arms for the next game.
The point, Roberts said, is to win four out of seven games.
Flaherty threw 3 lousy innings, and Honeywell threw 4.2 meh innings, including 3 HBP. Banda finished off the last batter, throwing just two pitches.
Flaherty, Honeywell and Banda combined to strike out ZERO Mets.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers struck out 11 times….
Oh well. Back to LA we go.
If anyone would have foretold prior to the start of the NLCS that the LAD would be coming back to LA with a 3-2 lead, most of us would have agreed that we would be in excellent position to seal the NL title.
Despite the outcome of game 5, the Dodgers are heavy favorites to make it to the WS. Our starting pitching has clearly been our weakest link, but I do not recall ever seeing a more potent LAD offense. This line up is deep and has no easy outs. You get the sense that until the last out is recorded, the team has a chance to put up a crooked number on the board.
We always talk about the playoffs being a complete crapshoot because it usually boils down to the team with the most momentum. The LAD have a ton of momentum coming into the last 2 games of the series.
Go Dodgers!
Roberts did not mgr. To win game 5. Flaherty stayed for all 8 runs. Just saying.
I gotta feeling. The Dodgers are on a mission.
Just so you know:
This game ain’t over!
Pretty clear we’re going with Flaherty no matter what when he clearly did not have his stuff. Not a fan of conceding games. It gives the Mets momentum and does not strain their BP. I realize we’re saving our high leverage guys for the BP game, but the last BP game Roberts chose Knack early which was a mistake, and then decided not to bail him out out even though it was a BP game. Play to win!
Thank god! Poppy and A-Rod are the same dumb shits they were yesterday. And Poppy, 10-2?!?! You need your f****** head examined!

Let’s wrap this up tonight!
A nice benefit from the big wins is that it allows the Dodgers to use both E. Henriquez and B. Casparius to get some innings in. Ben has looked great and composed, while Edgardo has been a little too pumped up but settled down after the first 2-hitters last night, then came through again in the 9th when 2-more hitters got on.
Got to figure both are in the mix next year.
As to win today and get a big break that might cool down the hitters or have the Mets win and stay fresh with a another game or two! – I want the win and take our chances with a possibility of 3 to 6 days off.
This morning, I found myself sending condolences to a close friend Mets fan, who I’ve known for over 70 years. He had no problem saying that the Dodgers were the better team and that he was thrilled with how well his boys did. Admittedly, the Mets were great from June on. Hopefully, not enough to go to the W.S..
Not to get ahead of ourselves, but I would be disappointed unless we play the Yankees. As much as I loved us winning in ’20, I never thought that the ’20 Rays were that great. Just my opinion.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ll be dancing in the streets if we win today. But….if we happen to lose, it will create a silver lining. A pressure packed game at home on Sunday. Less down time before the Series starts next Friday. And a boatload of money for Guggenheim and L.A.
On a side note. Miggy Ro going down guaranteed Mr. Rocktober 4 at bats at least every game. I love Miggy but that’s a good thing. Go Blue!
Book em
Dodgers will finish off the Mets today.
my vote for mvp so far? THE BULLPEN!!! Jack needs to bring it today!! i can see him going 6 strong, and an undervalued Honeywell finish the last 3 innings! maybe doc rests freddie again today? Finish it today! Cleveland, make it go 7!!!!!
Well you were WAAAAy off in your prediction for Quintana. You said he might just last 3 innings, but he made it for 3.1!!
I don’t know about picking a MVP, but there should be an award for ‘Taking What They Give YOU’. And hands down that is MAX
AMEN !
