The phrase “It ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings” is a vivid colloquialism, often embraced as a proverb, reminding us not to jump to conclusions about an outcome still unfolding. It underscores the notion that appearances can deceive, especially when a situation seems to be nearing its close. In essence, this saying advises patience, hinting that even the most promising or dire moments in a contest may yet surprise us. Rooted firmly in the world of organized competitions—most notably sports—this expression captures the suspense, urging spectators and participants alike not to assume victory or defeat until the final note rings out.

But, it is over! The fat lady is warming up. The Los Angeles Dodgers will be the 2024 World Series Champions! Tonight, all the Sales, Marketing, and Tech Support guys at US Water Systems will be in town (annual training), and we are having a World Series Party. I will cook my famous chili (key ingredients: cilantro and tequila), and hopefully, they will close it out tonight.

Last night, Striker Buehler showed flashes of the one we used to know. I think the Dodgers will try to keep him in the offseason. Freddie Freeman is set to be the Series MVP, and maybe we can not hear the “Fire Roberts” and “Friedman is a Moron” chants for a few weeks. I plan to scale back my blogging (you knew that was coming), but I will keep the site open and maybe post when the spirit moves me.

Hard to listen to Joe Davis and John Smoltz.Davis repeats the same things over and over. Smoltz hopes the Dodgers lose. Finally had to turn off the sound completely and will do so for the remainder of the Series.

  2. DavidOctober 30, 2024

    Yikes. Max

  3. BobAlouOctober 30, 2024

Bull pen pitchers did not have it tonight. Hudson, especially. Sheesh!

  4. DodgfanOctober 30, 2024

The Fox postgame show is going to be painful.

  5. porpoiseboyOctober 30, 2024

Bright side, no high leverage relievers used.

  6. Jorge ValenzuelaOctober 30, 2024

On Google home page there are articles on various topics, and one of them was about that, so I didn’t give the writer any importance and I never do.

  7. Jorge ValenzuelaOctober 30, 2024

I was reading a certain writer that the umpire stabbed the Yankees in the first game and that in the second game despite the umpire’s help they couldn’t win the game, that is, all about the Yankees and nothing about the Dodgers.

  8. DodgfanOctober 29, 2024

These pregame shows on Fox are a bit hard to watch. Two former Yankees and a former Red Sox. Couldn’t they find a west coast guy? Karros? Orel? Heck, I’d settle for Nomar. The Dodgers are up 3-0 and the discussion is all about the Yankees.

  9. Jorge ValenzuelaOctober 29, 2024

Please stop it, forget about 2017 and that the Astros cheated and the Dodgers should have won…

Forget it, get over it, besides, if the Astros hadn’t cheated, the Yankees would have played the Dodgers, can any of you say that the Dodgers would have won? No!

I’m pretty sure that will be a topic that comes up again and again. Get over that year, enjoy this one.

This is a winning team, and that is an excuse for a losing team. The Dodgers are not one, don’t be one, don’t prove otherwise, leave that to the idiots from SD.

I wouldn’t be too disappointed if we lost tonight. It means we would win in front of the Dodger fans and don’t they diserve that’

  12. JimboOctober 29, 2024

I 100% agree, do not let them up for air and do not assume.

  13. MattOctober 29, 2024

    Is that picture Fat Joe?

I heard it was brutal, I had sound off.

I’ve been listening to every game this postseason (the ones I haven’t been at) to Monday and Nelson on the Dodgers broadcast.

If you have MLB.TV you can switch the audio, its synched up perfectly.

I like Joe Davis but I wanted the hometown radio calls.

Monday is outstanding and Nelson has grown on me this postseason.

    WON. MORE.

Enjoy your thoughts but don’t even bother reading those replies. Just keep posting often cause I really look forward to this every mourning and it’s gonna be a long lonely winter without your opinions. By the way I’m from Piqua , Ohio in Miami County and your from Greenville in Darke Co. I probably played legion baseball with a couple of your glass mates on Post 184. Maybe some day we can have a sit down at one of my favourite places, Maid Rite and celebrate this wonderful run.

  15. dodgerdadOctober 29, 2024

tonight? i sure hope so! score early again. Gil has very good stuff, but has trouble controlling his emotions. Knock him out quick just like last night. think we’re all gonna be a little bit nervous until that final out is recorded! now i believe this series won’t go back to LA, but tonight is the time to end it. Doc said he doesn’t want to give the yankees any air and i agree 100%! a game 5 would mean Cole on the mound so end it tonight! i said before the series started Freddie would be the MVP. So celebrate in yankees stadium tonight and give Freddie his trophy!

  16. Brian PerkinsOctober 29, 2024

    One more win

  17. DanoOctober 29, 2024

During my years living in San Diego, we had a different saying.

It ain’t over until the fat man swings! RIP Tony, great person. Well done Freddie. Well done Striker. Bring it home boys!

    Book em

  18. MattOctober 29, 2024

Man this has been a ride.

    ONE MORE TO GO!!!

Im not counting chicnkens yet, but…..

    Lets finish this.

2 World Series Titles in 4 years sounds GREAT to me!

Dodgers Food Trailer

I did this interview a couple of weeks ago with Chef Mike, who runs the Dodgers Food Trailer for the Great Lakes Loons. They are there for every home and road regular season and playoff game. They prepare three meals a day for approximately 50 people (players and coaches). Since games end late most evenings, they do not prepare breakfast. Many of their hotels have a complimentary breakfast anyway. However,…

Meet LAD 2026 Draft Picks 1-12

3 picks were High School players (2 SS and 1 OF). There was a college OF, college catcher, college SS, and 10 college pitchers. Of all the talk for a need for a catcher, the only catcher the Dodgers selected was Luke Bard, son of LAD bullpen coach Josh Bard. Bard was a 4th year senior from Houston Christian University. He is not a prospect, so the Dodgers are still…

Interview with Paul Beachy – Team Bus Driver For The Great Lakes Loons (LA Dodgers Minor League Team)

It’s been a few days since I did this interview. We have evidently been working my son-in-law (the video guy) like a rented mule at US Water Systems. However, I am taking him to London with me in a few days, so maybe Watford will buy him a pint as a tip, but he’s a dang Red Sox fan, so there is that! I thought that it would be interesting…

Thanks for Your Service: Chris Taylor

I was going to do this post when Chris announced he was retiring, then he changed his mind, but since the chances of him ever playing for the Dodgers again are slim and non-existent, I will go ahead with this post. He unretired, went on the IL, then decided to call it quits on May 24th. Taylor was born in Virginia Beach VA on August 29th, 1990. He attended Great…
