There’s this little race here in Indy today that I am going to, so you won’t hear much from me.  By the way, even if you don’t like racing, it should be on your “bucket list.” It has to be one of the Ten Wonders of the World.  I am not a big race fan – can’t tell you who is in the points lead or any of that, but on this day, racing in Indy is truly magic.  It is the Greatest Spectacle in Racing (maybe all of sports)… and where else do they let you bring in your own beer and food?

Just stay away from the Snake Pit!

It was a great win yesterday for the Dodgers as they shutout the Cubs for a second straight game.  Of course, FAZ manufactured another injury as McCarthy had to heave due to knee tendonitis.  Dodgerrick is convening a Grand Jury as we speak!   Julio Urias pitched six strong innings at AAA… one more start and he’s probably ready.  Most teams are lamenting the lack of enough starters.  Dodger fans bitch about too many.

Personally, I don’t like Grandal hitting #3, but you can’t argue with results. Dare I say “All-Star” Yasmani Grandal?

I see that Tulsa lost last night 1-0 and the opponents had only 4 hits, while Tulsa had 10! How can that happen?

Brock Stewart started his comeback from arm issues at RC last night and was bombed in 1/3 of an inning.  All you need to know is that his ERA is 54.00!  He will likely be fine.  He’s just way behind.  Santana followed up with 6 IP/6 H/ 1 R/5 K’s/2.05 ERA.  It’s time for him to move to Tulsa.

Cody Bellinger is making them pitch to him – 3 BB yesterday!

Rumor has it that Franklin Gutierrez may still be on the team.

Where can Joc play when he returns?  Chris Taylor looks like he deserves the job.

There are lots of trade possibilities, but maybe no need to make any. The Snakes and Rocks will falter soon enough.

I too would/wiil be quite surprised if at some point the Rox and Snakes don’t start losing more. They don’t have the pitching the Dodgers have.

  2. MJMay 29, 2017

The game tomorrow starts pretty early, for our guys.

It starts at 11:15 in California.

  3. BobbyMay 29, 2017

Meanwhile, for Tulsa today, Walker Buehler: 5ip, 2 hits, 1run, 1bb, 6k on 70 pitches. I think that’s the longest he’s gone this year.

  4. Vegas DodgerMay 28, 2017

Power on display today! Puig says thank you to Rendon for throwing a hanging slider instead of 95 mph gas by hitting it out! Great way to end a home stand at 8 and 2, and pass AZ for 2nd. Barnes and Grandal make a nice catching duo. Taylor is stating his case and so is Kike, and Faz loves positional versatility. Gutierrez has a lot of trouble playing in the field, can they afford the luxury of a strictly PH? Cubs ran into a buzz saw and got swept and Cards got beat up in Coors, the NL West is making a statement. On to St Louis and Milwaukee, keep it going!

  5. Watford DodgerMay 28, 2017

Kershaw is gassed – get him outta there.

  6. RichieFMay 28, 2017

It seems neither pitcher is on his game today. Lester only 3.1 innings and 6 ER. CK 4 ER in 4 innings(3 HR’s) and 99 pitches in 4 innings. Is the wind blowing out??

Now it will be the battle of the bullpens and I like our chances.

  7. Watford DodgerMay 28, 2017

    Boys are looking good.

That Kike HR means we can get Kershaw out soon.

    He’s thrown 70 pitches in 3 innings.

  8. MJMay 28, 2017

    Mark

It is a bad day for you to go to that race, because a couple of your favorites, hit three run HRs!

Cody and Kike, hit them out, against Lester!

  9. QuasimodoMay 28, 2017

Both of those first two popups from first two pitches should of been caught. No excuses.

  10. roger askewMay 28, 2017

Bottom line guys is that the Rockies and D-Bags are both playing lights out, and we haven’t really hit our stride yet, and we are only a game and a half out of first. Just a matter of time, just a a matter of time. They can’t hang with our depth over 162 games.

  11. Vegas DodgerMay 28, 2017

    Dodgers

    3B: Logan Forsythe

    SS: Corey Seager

    CF: Chris Taylor

    LF: Franklin Gutierrez

    2B: Enrique Hernandez

    C: Austin Barnes

    1B: Cody Bellinger

    RF: Brett Eibner

    SP: Clayton Kershaw

Like the lineup today, Puig and Grandal needed a day off; AGon and Utley day game after night game rest; load the lineup with RH hitters on Lester. Defense should be fine, would like to see them run on Lester or at least dare him to throw over.

  12. Bobbie17May 28, 2017

Sborz: 5 walks and pulled after 2.

  13. Bobbie17May 28, 2017

Urias last night with OKC. Started against a bad Marlin team.6-3-1-2-4. 92 pitches-59 strikes. I heard yesterday that the average number of pitches in a game per team is 160. Still too many pitches for 6 innings for Urias. I guess they are not too worried about pitch count with 92.

  14. Bobbie17May 28, 2017

The guy from F1, Alonso, makes $ 36 million per year. Is driving at Indy “because it’s there”. One of the favorites. I’m pulling for Penske Chevys. No stinkin’ Hondas.. Will Power. Hondas, however, have speed over the Chevys. How about the Charlotte Coca Cola 600 at 3 pm? Racing all day. Take a break from the game and watch something fast. Brad Keselowsi my pick for the 600. In a Ford. Nice win yesterday. The Cubs have championship hangover. I hope it lasts until December. At the same time, they are giving the top farm hands experience. Happ. Some of the pitchers. Not a bad way to waste the season after you win it all.

  15. PeterJMay 28, 2017

Rudy – I sadly think there is a large % of people who go to auto races to see crashes…

I love to watch the ponies run, but horse tracks are the only place where windows clean people IMHO…

Gonna miss Gregg Almonn… He got me to liking Southern Rock, or as my brother called it Outlaw Rock…

Hell that was fun… Now let Kersh do his thing!!!

  16. MJMay 28, 2017

I thought the front office was going to stop using the ten day DL, but it won’t hurt us, if they make all of the pitchers pitch a rehab start, in that middle of their DL, like they did with Maeda.

But they didn’t put Hill on the DL like they just did McCarthy, so I guess it depends on the pitcher.

But I do think they need to stick with just five pitchers, and stop using the DL, until later in the season, when the pitchers might need a blow, or time for a minor injury, problem.

I thought the experiment with Ryu in the bullpen, was going to stop them from using this ten day DL, so much.

But anyways that was another good win for us, and I believe both the Rockies, and the Dbacks, lost last night too.

I hope Kershaw pitches like he can today, because the Cubs have never had, to go against Kershaw, when he is at his best.

He wasn’t even at his best in that one game he pitched against the Cubs in the post season, that he won, so I hope the Cubs will finally have to face Kershaw today, when he is at his best.

  17. MJMay 28, 2017

For everyone who was complaining about Chase, he is now hitting for a higher average, then both Joc and Puig.

  18. BobbyMay 28, 2017

No interest in cars going in circles. I see enough cars on the freeways here to care about more cars

CT3 has become invaluable now. He needs to be out there, regardless of position.

  19. Rudy ByrdMay 28, 2017

It’s always great to beat that ugly mug Lackey. He and Mad Bum are two of my least favorite individuals of all-time.

The Kentucky Derby – The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports.

The Indy 500 – too long watching grown-ups going round and round in circles…maybe change it to the Indy 100.

That said, I do remember getting up early and going to the El Portal Theater in North Hollywood with my dad and watching the Indy race (obviously before TV aired it). One year there was a terrible accident with fatalities and the race was delayed for (in my young mind) forever. My dad was into racing (both horse and car) so I indulged him. I still follow the ponies from afar but not the autos.

Excellent win last night, by the way.

  20. PeterJMay 28, 2017

I’d love to see Indy drivers turn right, or Danica Patrick in a tank top and jeans at a after race party…

Now that that’s out of the way, How Bout Them Dodgers?!!?

The year of hidden gems!! Bellinger, Toles, Taylor, Strip and Wood… I know I’ve forgotten someone!??!

    Lookin for the broom…

  21. SCDodgerFanMay 28, 2017

The Greatest Spectacle in Racing? Kentucky Derby fans may wish to disagree!

  22. IdahoalMay 28, 2017

I did visit the Indy track last fall. The thing that amazed me the most was the size of the media room. It was massive. They had another media room on the floor below that was just as big as the one we saw.

  23. IdahoalMay 28, 2017

Puig looks lost at the plate. They will throw him fast balls until he proves he can hit them. This is odd. Most hitters can hit fastballs. It is the curve most have trouble with. I just do not know if Puig and Joc are going to make it.

  24. HawkeyeDodgerMay 28, 2017

Puig needs to sit tomorrow. He pressing now and the quality of his AB’s dropped the last two games.

Dodgers Food Trailer

I did this interview a couple of weeks ago with Chef Mike, who runs the Dodgers Food Trailer for the Great Lakes Loons. They are there for every home and road regular season and playoff game. They prepare three meals a day for approximately 50 people (players and coaches). Since games end late most evenings, they do not prepare breakfast. Many of their hotels have a complimentary breakfast anyway. However,…

Meet LAD 2026 Draft Picks 1-12

3 picks were High School players (2 SS and 1 OF). There was a college OF, college catcher, college SS, and 10 college pitchers. Of all the talk for a need for a catcher, the only catcher the Dodgers selected was Luke Bard, son of LAD bullpen coach Josh Bard. Bard was a 4th year senior from Houston Christian University. He is not a prospect, so the Dodgers are still…

Interview with Paul Beachy – Team Bus Driver For The Great Lakes Loons (LA Dodgers Minor League Team)

It’s been a few days since I did this interview. We have evidently been working my son-in-law (the video guy) like a rented mule at US Water Systems. However, I am taking him to London with me in a few days, so maybe Watford will buy him a pint as a tip, but he’s a dang Red Sox fan, so there is that! I thought that it would be interesting…

Thanks for Your Service: Chris Taylor

I was going to do this post when Chris announced he was retiring, then he changed his mind, but since the chances of him ever playing for the Dodgers again are slim and non-existent, I will go ahead with this post. He unretired, went on the IL, then decided to call it quits on May 24th. Taylor was born in Virginia Beach VA on August 29th, 1990. He attended Great…
