LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated outfielder Joc Pederson from the seven-day concussion disabled list and placed first baseman Adrián González on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to June 12) with lower back discomfort.

Pederson, who missed 16 games due to a concussion, made three rehab appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City, going 3-for-9 (.333) with two home runs and four RBI. In 35 games with Los Angeles this season, he is batting .200 (21-for-105) with 15 runs, six doubles, two homers and 11 RBI.

González will make his second stint on the disabled list this season, as he was last placed on the DL with right elbow soreness on May 5-18. In 49 games this season, he has hit .255 with 11 doubles, one home run and 23 RBI.

My Lineup for Tonight:

  1. Utley  2B
  2. Seager  SS
  3. Turner  3B
  4. Bellinger  1B
  5. Grandal C
  6. Taylor  LF
  7. Pederson  CF
  8. Puig  RF

OKC Dodgers were 7-2 winners over the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals). Trevor Oaks started and went 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, 0 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Jacob Rhame and Madison Younginer each pitched 1 shutout inning to close out the win. The 5th inning was the decider with three OKC Dodger home-runs by Dickson (16th), Thompson (5th), and Farmer (4th). Thompson had three hits and is now above the Mendoza line. Verdugo, Farmer, & Culberson had two hits each.

    .

Josh Sborz started and went 5.2 innings for the Tulsa Drillers in their 8-1 win over Springfield (Cardinals). Sborz allowed 0 runs, 3 hits, 0 walks, and 5 strikeouts. We will need to see what he does in his next start to see if he has turned a corner. Yaisel Sierra went 1.1 innings in relief allowing 0 runs and 1 hit, 0 walks and 1 strikeout. Offensively Erick Mejia, Quincy Lattimore, Jose Miguel Fernandez, and Wynston Sawyer had 2 hits each, with Fernandez slugging his 7th home run.

    .

The RC Quakes were shutout 2-0 by Inland Empire (Angels). Caleb Ferguson started and went 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs, 5 hits, 5 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Tony Gonsolin and Andrew Istler pitched the final 4.1 shutout innings. Yusniel Diaz had 2 hits for the Quakes.

    .

Great Lakes split a pair with Dayton (Reds). In the first game, AJ Alexy pitched 6 shutout innings allowing 2 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. His ERA is down to 2.68 ERA. Angel German pitched the final inning for his 4th save. Brendon Davis and Keibert Ruiz each had two hits for the Loons.

    .

In the 2nd game, the Loons lost 4-2. Christian Stolo started and went 5.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. Great Lakes had 3 singles and 1 triple (Oneal Cruz) for their total offensive output.

    .

One thing that has gone unmentioned is the promotion of Devin Smeltzer to Rancho. On Monday, June 12, Devin started his second game as a Quake and went 7 innings allowing 1 unearned run on 5 hits, 0 walks and 9 strikeouts getting his 1st Rancho win. He should have won his first game but a blown save with 2 outs in the 9th cost him the victory. Since June 9, Jordan Sheffield, 5 shutout innings and the win, AJ Alexy 6 shutout innings and the win, and Devin Smeltzer 7 innings of 1 unearned run and the win, all 2016 draft choices and all RHSP. Dustin May, another 2016 drafted RHP also pitched well, but did not get the win this time. But he is headed to the Midwest League All Star game. I cannot believe that RH pitchers can pitch that well. Reading the last couple of days, some seem to believe that having more left handed pitchers is more important than having good RHP.

    Bellinger 4, Indians bullpen nothing!

  4. Watford DodgerJune 13, 2017

Puig with a HR the other way.

    Always good to see.

This MLB draft may be a crap shot, but I’m loving SoCal pulling off the daily double. I’ve had the privilege to see both kids and barring injury they’re both bluechippers.

It would not surprise me Agon will be gone the majority of the year. Eithier is not coming back either. You just do not heal quickly as you get older. Back problems can be hard to come back from.

I guess now we will see if Puig and Pederson can take us to the promised land. Taylor plays left field, I believe, for the first time. If we just keep winning each series, we will be ok.

From what I gather, A-Gon could miss the majority of the season.

  10. dodgerrickJune 13, 2017

    5 of Dodgers’ 1st 7 picks are RHP – 4 are collegians. 2 position players – an OF and a C.

  11. Watford DodgerJune 13, 2017

As much as I ate to admit it, you were right about AGon & the final years of his contract.

Still I’m sure you will accept the praise with humility.

Dodgers Food Trailer

I did this interview a couple of weeks ago with Chef Mike, who runs the Dodgers Food Trailer for the Great Lakes Loons. They are there for every home and road regular season and playoff game. They prepare three meals a day for approximately 50 people (players and coaches). Since games end late most evenings, they do not prepare breakfast. Many of their hotels have a complimentary breakfast anyway. However,…

Meet LAD 2026 Draft Picks 1-12

3 picks were High School players (2 SS and 1 OF). There was a college OF, college catcher, college SS, and 10 college pitchers. Of all the talk for a need for a catcher, the only catcher the Dodgers selected was Luke Bard, son of LAD bullpen coach Josh Bard. Bard was a 4th year senior from Houston Christian University. He is not a prospect, so the Dodgers are still…

Interview with Paul Beachy – Team Bus Driver For The Great Lakes Loons (LA Dodgers Minor League Team)

It’s been a few days since I did this interview. We have evidently been working my son-in-law (the video guy) like a rented mule at US Water Systems. However, I am taking him to London with me in a few days, so maybe Watford will buy him a pint as a tip, but he’s a dang Red Sox fan, so there is that! I thought that it would be interesting…

Thanks for Your Service: Chris Taylor

I was going to do this post when Chris announced he was retiring, then he changed his mind, but since the chances of him ever playing for the Dodgers again are slim and non-existent, I will go ahead with this post. He unretired, went on the IL, then decided to call it quits on May 24th. Taylor was born in Virginia Beach VA on August 29th, 1990. He attended Great…
