I did this interview a couple of weeks ago with Chef Mike, who runs the Dodgers Food Trailer for the Great Lakes Loons. They are there for every home and road regular season and playoff game. They prepare three meals a day for approximately 50 people (players and coaches). Since games end late most evenings, they do not prepare breakfast. Many of their hotels have a complimentary breakfast anyway. However,…

3 picks were High School players (2 SS and 1 OF). There was a college OF, college catcher, college SS, and 10 college pitchers. Of all the talk for a need for a catcher, the only catcher the Dodgers selected was Luke Bard, son of LAD bullpen coach Josh Bard. Bard was a 4th year senior from Houston Christian University. He is not a prospect, so the Dodgers are still…

It’s been a few days since I did this interview. We have evidently been working my son-in-law (the video guy) like a rented mule at US Water Systems. However, I am taking him to London with me in a few days, so maybe Watford will buy him a pint as a tip, but he’s a dang Red Sox fan, so there is that! I thought that it would be interesting…

I was going to do this post when Chris announced he was retiring, then he changed his mind, but since the chances of him ever playing for the Dodgers again are slim and non-existent, I will go ahead with this post. He unretired, went on the IL, then decided to call it quits on May 24th. Taylor was born in Virginia Beach VA on August 29th, 1990. He attended Great…

That’s what I was talking about Vegas Dodger in the last thread, this is a different Dodger team! Toles ran it out in the 9th and of course, the Team Dad didn’t stop until he got to the plate. These guys don’t give up, and I dont know about you guys out there, but didn’t this seem like one of those “statement games” where even the Cubs fans sensed that the Dodgers are going to have to be dealt with in October. Stripling was bad ass again, (Good call Mark), and the bullpen looked intimidating. Like I said earlier guys, check out the silver lining through the clouds. Great National league game tonight.
Problem now is too many good pitchers. Who gets sent down when we bring Urias up? More immediate issue, who gets sent down for Baez.
Our waste of a draft pick Mitchell White today for Rancho:
5ip, 1hit, 1bb, 0 runs, 6k
Toles hustling down the line after swinging at a low strike 3 slider and Contreras throwing error gets Utley home for an extra run! Jansen on for the 9th, let’s go!
Meanwhile, our prior bff Zach Lee started for the Pads today, AT Colorado:
5.2ip, 2 hits, 0 runs, 4bb, 3k
Wow!
Did Strip just earn himself more 7th and 8th close game duty there??
That was nice!
Picking up from the previous thread.
Dodgerrick, did you read the Bowden article? It talks a lot about the TTOP, like this passage:
There is also simply too much data out there that says the third time through the order is when most starters get hit and give up the most runs. Twenty years ago, the spread in OPS between a first at-bat vs. a third was almost 60 points; last year that spread had expanded to almost 70 points. Therefore, general managers are building deeper bullpens, not just in quantity to get innings but also quality.
Hate to say it so soon, but McCarthy is impressing me.
Utley is not Utley anymore.
Good lineup, I ‘m cool with that. Did Turner go on the DL from the last game or is he day to day?
