The Truth Comes Out

March 13, 2018

Some Dodger fans were worried about Corey Seager’s elbow after last season when he missed the NLCS.  Many felt that he needed surgery… but there was no surgery.  Some fans even blamed FAZ for not forcing him to have surgery (yeah, that would work out well).  However, yesterday Corey Seager saw his first action in the field and (according to him) made two throws without any issues. But, the truth…

Weekend Observations

February 25, 2018

Some Weekend Observations:   Wilmer Font was extremely efficient and effective. He had excellent command of both his 4 seamer and 2 seamer. He threw his breaking pitch just enough to show it and it was never left out over the plate.  If he continues along this path, it will be very hard for the Dodgers to not keep him on the 25 man.   On January 2, I posted…

Spring Training is Just Like Christmas in February.

February 13, 2018

Okay now that Yu Darvish is signed, sealed, and delivered to the Chicago Cubs, who is the next domino to fall?  21 of the top 50 are still unsigned, and 6 of the top ten.  Interestingly, 5 of those 6 are represented by Scott Boras (JDM, Hosmer, Arrieta, Moustakas, and Holland).  Is it collusion, or is it anti Scott Boras?   So what does that mean for the Dodgers?  The…

Dodgers Depth

January 21, 2018

Mark referenced a site, https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-los-angeles-dodgers/ , that I have studied for some time.  I went back to look at my notes and do have some observations:   There is no way the bench will be comprised of 4 RH hitters and 1 switch hitter.  I do not see Segedin or Thompson on the 25 man coming out of Spring.  I would project Toles and one of Peter/Muncy/Locastro to replace Segedin…

LH Hitting 2B – How About Max Muncy?

January 2, 2018

There has been a lot of discussion about the Dodgers needing a LH hitting 2B this offseason.  Okay maybe I have been the one talking about it.  I have recommended the Dodgers look at Jace Peterson as the potential LH hitting 2B even without ever hearing one report that FAZ was interested.  Yangervis Solarte and Erick Aybar are others that have at least drawn some attention.  But my attention has…

2017 OKC Recap

September 19, 2017

The OKC Dodgers finished the 2017 AAA season with a 72-69 record, good enough for 2nd place in the PCL American North Division.  However, they were 10.0 games behind the division champion Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Brewers).  The Sky Sox then lost to the Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals) in the American Divisional Series.  The El Paso Chihuahuas (Padres) beat the Reno Aces (Dbacks) in the Pacific Division championship series.  The Memphis…

Just Another Middle Infield Prospect – Errol Robinson

August 5, 2017

Last Monday when the Dodgers acquired Yu Darvish, Tony Watson, and Tony Cingrani, the Dodgers traded four players from their top 30 prospect list; Willie Calhoun, Brendon Davis, AJ Alexy, and Oneil Cruz.  That opened the door for four new members of the Dodgers top 30.  Jacob Rhame returned to the top 30 and #is now listed at #28.  Three new members of the top 30 are: #27         Cristian Santana…

2016 LAD 5th Round Draft Choice Devin Smeltzer

May 29, 2017

Tim and Christina Smelzer were looking at a picture of their ten year old son, Devin, with Cole Hamels.  But this was not an ordinary picture.  This was a picture of a young boy with no hair due to chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatments treating his cancer.  After taking too many trips to the bathroom to urinate, Devin was diagnosed on multiple occasions with a urinary tract infection.  However a…

Is Dodger Starting Pitching More Questionable Than Others???

May 13, 2017

Ryu gets tattooed and now there is a problem with the starting pitching?  I do not consider Ryu anything more than a #7 on this team.  I have no idea whether Ryu would have pitched better with regular rest or extended.  Maybe his curve just does not work in Colorado.  I have no delusions that Ryu will be anywhere close to the pitcher he was before his shoulder problems.  …

The Alex Wood Dilemma

May 2, 2017

Andrew Miller is a 6’7” left hander from Gainesville, FL and attended University of North Carolina. He was drafted in the first round by the Detroit Tigers in 2006.  Miller was called up later that year and made his ML debut on August 30, 2006.  From 2007-2010, he bounced up and down from the MiLB to MLB (Det/Fla).  While he did have some very good starts, he never established himself…
