Las Vegas Aviators (A’s) 8 – OKC Comets 6
RHSP Christian Romero was further evidence that the Dodgers just do not have SP at OKC. He got through 4.1 innings, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits, 4 BB, and 5 K. The RP has also been questionable.
OKC scored a run in the 1st. DH Zach Ehrhard hit a 1-out double (20). LF Ryan Ward walked, and 1B James Tibbs III singled home Ehrhard.

In the 4th, leading 4-2, with one out JTIII doubled (23) and scored on 3B Ryan Fitzgerald’s single.
Las Vegas tied it up with 3 off Romero in the 5th, with some help from RHRP Chayce McDermott who gave up a 2-run single for the tie.
OKC took the lead in the 7th on a pair of 2-out BB to Robinson and Ehrhard, and a RBI single by Ward.
Las Vegas went ahead on 3 walks, two by RHRP José Rodríguez and 1 by RHRP Nick Robertson, pickoff attempt error, WP, a fielder’s choice throwing error, and an infield single.
LHRP Ronan Kopp walked 2 and gave up a run-scoring single in the 9th for a Las Vegas insurance run.
· Zach Ehrhard – 2-3, 3 BB, 2 runs, 2 doubles (20)
· Ryan Ward – 2-5, 1 BB, 2 RBI
· James Tibbs III – 2-4, 1 BB, 1 run, 1 RBI, double (23)
· Chuckie Robinson – 1-3, 2 BB, 2 runs, 2 RBI, HR (4)

Tulsa Drillers 11 - NW Arkansas Naturals (KC) 8
RHSP Patrick Copen is showing signs of getting out of his funk. He got through 5.0 IP, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, 2 BB, and 5 K. The one run was a solo HR to the lead off hitter in the 3rd inning.

By the 5th inning, every Tulsa batter had at least one hit. The Drillers put up 3 after the first 3 batters. LF Josue De Paula drew a BB and moved to 3rd on a double (13) by CF Mike Sirota. Both runners scored ahead of 1B Jake Gelof and his 18th HR.

In the 2nd, C Frank Rodriguez walked and scored on 2B Jose Izarra’s first HR of the year.
In the 4th inning, 3B Taylor Young led off with a double (6) and scored ahead of Rodriguez’s 6th HR. Later in the inning, with 2 outs, Sirota hit his 8th HR. After 4 innings, the Drillers led 8-1, and all runs via a HR.

Tulsa added a run in the 5th inning when Young doubled (7) and scored on a 2-out single by JDP.

But then the bullpen took over. In the next two innings three Tulsa relievers combined to allow 7 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks. In the 6th, RHRP Christian Ruebeck got the first two outs, then a BB, HBP, and RBI single and LHRP Evan Shaw was summoned to get the final out.
In the 7th with Shaw returning to the mound, the Naturals scored 6. He gave up a leadoff double, and a 1-out BB. After two singles, Shaw was replaced by LHRP Christian Suarez. Suarez struck out the 1st batter he faced. That was followed by a 2 run double. That was followed by a run-scoring triple, and that batter scored on a WP.
In the bottom of the 7th, Tulsa got two back. Young led off with a single and scored on Rodriguez’s double (6). After two Ks, the pitcher unleased a WP to move Rodriguez to 3rd, and another WP to score Rodriguez.

RHRP Carson Hobbs entered in the 8th. He pitched two scoreless frames with a BB and 5 Ks for the save, his 1st.
· Mike Sirota – 2-4, 1 BB, 2 runs, 1 RBI, double (13), HR (8)

· Jose Izarra – 1-4, 1 run, 2 RBI, HR (1)
Fort Wayne TinCaps (San Diego) 5 – Great Lakes Loons 2
The numbers are not flattering, but RHSP Isaac Ayon did not pitch badly against Fort Wayne. He did allow a pair of 2 run HRs, but in between he was very good. In the 1st, a batter reached on an error, and the next batter homered.
Ayon set the Tin Caps down in order in the 2nd, and pitched to a minimum in the 3rd, thanks to a GIDP after a BB. In the 4th, he allowed a single, got two outs and then a 2-run HR. In the 5th, he got the first two outs, with the next batter reaching 1st on an error. Ayon got the final out.
In the 5th, Ayon walked the first batter and the next batter reached on an error (3rd of the game for GL) with the lead runner getting to 3rd. He got the next two batters on pop ups and was then lifted for LHRP Justin Chambers. Chambers gave up a run scoring single to the first batter he faced. The run was unearned and was charged to Ayon.
RHRP Dilan Figueredo pitched a scoreless 8th and 9th.
The Loons did not mount a lot of offense. In the 6th, C Gio Cueto singled and CF Charles Davalan hit another HR (17). The team had 7 singles and the 1 HR for their 8 hits.

It sure would be nice to see what Davalan can do at AA.

Ontario Tower Buzzers 7 – Fresno Grizzlies (Rockies) 6
Ontario got some excellent high leverage relief from RHRP Dailoui Abad over the last two scoreless innings. That allowed Ontario to come back and get the walk off with 3 in the last two innings.
Ontario scored a run in each of the first three innings, taking a 3-0 lead. In the 1st, CF Mairo Martinus led off with a double (24), and with 2 outs, 1B Easton Shelton hit a run scoring double (24).

In the 2nd 3B Oswaldo Osorio drew a 1-out BB, moved to 2nd on a PB, and scored on a single from C Francisco Espinoza.

In the 6th, LHRP Peter Bonilla relieved Cruz. He walked the first three batters and then served up a grand slam HR. Bonilla hit the next batter and then got a strike em out - throw em out DP. He walked 2 more before ending the inning.
RHRP Josehp Marte gave up an unearned run in the 7th.
Ontario started their comeback in the 7th when DH Kellon Lindsey tripled (3) and scored on a WP.
They got closer in the 8th when three consecutive singles from SS Joendry Vargas, LF Brendan Tunink, and Osorio scored Vargas.
In the 9th, 2B Javier Herrera singled. Herrera scored on a double (25) from Martinus, his second of the game. Lindsey walked, and both runners moved up on a WP. RF Ching-Hsien Ko was IBB to load the bases. Martinus would score the walkoff run on a WP.

Bluto, To continue-How many times can I state the same thing? My 'Argument' for getting Skubal-- We need starting pitching. 3 of the 4 guys we are counting on are not pitching because of injuries. I will let others present their arguments against. Plus latest report. Ohtani dealing with 2 injuries.
“Will Smith is resuming baseball activities and has been pain-free the last week, per Dave Roberts,” Dodgers Nation shared. “Lifting weights, throwing, swinging the bat will all be included in his activities.”
Barnes DFAd. Diaz activated.
"Jeff Passan,ESPN a reliable baseball source said Wednesday that many in the industry are "almost resigned to the idea that the Los Angeles Dodgers are going to get Tarik Skubal."
Watched Skubal pitch this morning. 6 2/3, 1 earned, 6 Ks. Left with 2 on. Detroit’s bullpen took over and the Tigers lost 10-9. He’s not going to stay there.
Not that the Cubs would accept anything Friedman might offer for PCA, I like that I was on the side of trading Pages plus a lot more for him.
Another frustrating game to watch with the offense (again) failing to get a timely hit with RISP. They have too many aging veterans failing to provide a key hit to blow a game open or overcome a lead. I know they lead the league in comeback wins, but most are when the opposition scores in the first or second inning. Coming back late in the game is another story. Wrobleski had a tough outing last night, but has been damn good in most of his appearances. It would have been nice to bail him out with some timely hitting. I know they scored six runs, but they had several chances to score 3,4,5+ more runs and failed. This is bad enough against a team like Seattle. What is this offense going to look like against playoff pitching? A lineup shake up such as: Ohtani Edman Freeman Muncy Betts Tucker Rushing/Smith Pages Teoscar- how about Kiki? The bottom five from above are the players that need to get their offensive s#%t together or there could be trouble ahead in the postseason. Carry on
There are actually FOUR prospects in the AA OF blocking Davalan: JDP, Hope, Sirota and George.
My goodness!!!! 1. MOVE PAGES OIT OF THE #2 SPOT.!NOW! 2. MOVE TEO OUT OF THE LINEUP AGAINST RHP. NOW! I swear. If an opposing pitcher were to throw a slider into their dugout, both of them would swing at it. 3. Give Tibbs a chance to platoon in LF or acquire a LH bat at the deadline so we don’t have to watch Teo flail away any longer. That game goes extra innings if Edman is batting second. It’s too much of a rally killer having both Pages and Mookie batting where they are.
Maybe Wrobleski was due for a game like this one. Or…..
Yet another fine start by Eric Lauer.... But I haven't seen a report yet that the Dodgers might keep him. In other news, Andy Pages must have read folks here (including me) argue that he should be moved down in the lineup. So he gets 3 hit, including a homer. Let's give ourselves kudos for inspiring the young man.
Are we sure we want to trade this guy? Lauer may be the best pick up of the mlb year!
Who’s the idiot calling for Pages to get moved out of the #2 spot?
Here's the truth: There is only one unknown remaining for this season, and that is whether we will be champs again or not. And this, nobody knows.
Snell so far today in Ontario: 60 pitches, 4ip, 1 hit, 9k
Put Edmans in the 2 spot. He can bunt, switch hit and is hitting over, 300 right now. Please Doc!
If they do trade for Skubal, great. If not, no big deal. I still think any trades will be more of the bulk up in a certain area type like another back-end reliever or a multi-positional guy with some hits in his bat. Detroit's loss today puts them at 51-58; They probably have no choice but to trade Skubal if they want anything back for him. No roster moves yet involving Diaz. Ohtani is also suffering from a biceps issue. Roberts hopes that improves as he is no longer throwing.

Passan, Bowen and the rest of the hacks know nothing about the Dodgers trading deadline playbook. They just spew rumours and the only rumours I like are Fleetwood Mac's. I prefer to trust Andrew's baseball IQ. Why not! Not one outsider knows what he's thinking. And thanks for informing me he's not talking to Detroit. Hilarious. I don't have anything negative to say about any Dodger. I love them all! Even Knack. It's a great time to be a fan of the Dodgers. 2 in a row about to be 3. A Juggernaut, a Dynasty and the best run franchise in sports! Enjoy the ride. This is historic. Book em

Not sure if everyone saw Alex Thomas get run over by Sacramento’s mascot on an electric scooter as he ran out the dugout. It was a nasty collision.
This is lovely: https://x.com/PitchingNinja/status/2082539550212006287
A tale of two Andy Pages. For the period of March through May, with 242 PA, Pages slashed .294/.343/.538/.881, 13 HR, 50 RBI. Pages started batting 2nd on a fulltime basis on May 26. How has that gone? For June and July, with 215 PA Pages is slashing .225/.316/.348/.664, 4 HR, 19 RBI. So it is okay to say that Sheehan is only in the rotation because there is nobody else, but he can continue to trot out Pages in the #2 slot with these numbers? Does this look to be a solid choice for the #2 batter in the lineup? July is the worst scoring month for the Dodgers this season with 4.3 per game. July is also the worst month for Pages. .224/.337/.329/.666, 1 HR, 9 RBI. I am sure that there are multiple stats to show that Pages is producing. But someone please tell us when the last meaningful RBI Pages had was. When was his last high leverage RBI. With a total of 9 RBIs in July, it has been a while. When was the last time he changed a game late? He is at the top of the order so he can get more PA in late game situations. Move him back down in the order. Give him a better chance to be successful.
Matt Waldron DFAd by the Padres. LA checked in at Grant Holmes latest rehab start along with several other teams. Casey Schmidt likely out for the year with a torn meniscus. Mets and Brewers have discussed Peralta coming back to the Brewers.
One thing. Teo is hitting .240ish. Kike is somewhat below that I do believe as a career hitter. Kike provides a spark, not necessarily at the plate all the time. So if Teo were to be moved, I would hope it’s not just so Kike becomes the regular left fielder. That’s not his strength!
