M.T. please don’t tell me you had those fingers crossed when you were semi making grandiose predictions about M.K. (either way, I loveit)

  2. BumsrapJune 7, 2018

Maybe Loney can come home like Kemp and this time do it as a pitcher.

  3. BumsrapJune 7, 2018

The Dodgers could really benefit from the DH. They have more good bats than they have spots in the lineup. Muncy has been great and his threat to keep Joc and Belli out of the lineup has maybe been part of the reason they have come alive.

I said a week or 2 ago we needed starting pitching. Somebody said we have plenty of starting pitching. Well it better show up in a hurry before our pitching is decimated. This may not show up now but later in the season it will. What is our medical staff doing? We have 4 starters on the dL and wood might as well be. Brock Stewart did something his velocity is way down and he can’t start or relieve. How did we get so many guys who can’t throw strikes. Let me name them…Stewart,Ferguson,Santana,Alexander,Hudson, baez, wood lately, hill=high pitch counts, garcia and I’m probably missing a couple. Garcia I thought would Be really good but not yet. Goedell has been a Godsend so far but burnout is coming. But hey you have to admire the fight in this team. The offense has come alive but I worry about turners health. A great road trip with the whole team deserving accolades. Go Dodgers!

  5. BobbyJune 7, 2018

This road trip, our pitchers threw 53 innings. The bullpen thew 38 of those innings.

I can’t believe we went 5-1 with that stat!! Great great great job by the pen. Walker Buehler will be the voted the homecoming king tomorrow night if he can go at least 7!!

  6. Mark TimmonsJune 7, 2018

Joc Pederson has always been my favorite player.

  7. TherealtenJune 7, 2018

How about Eric goedell? He may not get another out but to date he has been great in the pen. What a gutsy performance today. Great going bellinger!!

  8. Ron Fairly fanJune 7, 2018

Yeah it’s about time to send Cody B down

  9. BobbyJune 7, 2018

Actually, Santana was in fact scratched today due to right lat soreness.

Feel bad for our bullpen today. We need to put up a lot of runs today for the pen!

  10. AlwaysCompeteJune 7, 2018

I am not watching the game. Why was Santana scratched?

  11. Brooklyn DodgerJune 7, 2018

Agree Mark about Ferguson. I remember another young lefthander the Dodgers brought up, albeit with even better stuff than Ferguson, who needed a third pitch and better command to excel at the big league level. Namely, Clayton Kershaw. Not saying that Ferguson is ever going to be Kershaw, but like any young pitcher, he needs refinement.

Bullpen? Starter? In either case better command is necessary, and a 3rd pitch (change???) would useful as well. Definitely a young pitcher to keep an eye on. At 21 he has ample time to make an impact.

  12. BobbyJune 7, 2018

Peter, if you’re going to be in Fresno, go to Doghouse Grill for the tri tip (or pulled pork) sandwiches. They are fantastic!

  13. dodgerrickJune 7, 2018

I made the observation the other day that Roberts needed to be more judicious about his bullpen usage. There was no reason to lift Stripling after 5 innings the other day. The ‘pen had to soak up 4 innings and it was that much worse when Ferguson couldn’t get out of the 2nd last night. Here’s an observation in TrueBlueLA:

“Including the 6⅓ innings on Wednesday, the Dodgers bullpen has pitched 26⅔ innings on the road trip, with 25 appearances in five games. Going back further to include the Phillies series at home, the Dodgers bullpen has pitched 45 of the 80 total innings on the staff.”

That’s not going to work. With so many starters on the shelf right now, the likelihood of one of the substitutes pitching deep into the game is not high, so when you have someone like Stripling pitching a shutout after 5, why pull him out? Get another inning or two unless you see something wrong.

I do not like the way that Roberts uses his ‘pen. And I really don’t get why Hudson is still with the team. It makes you wonder if he has pictures of someone or something.

    DODGERS ANNOUNCE ROSTER MOVES

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers today recalled right-handed pitcher Pedro Báez and left-handed pitcher Edward Paredes from Triple-A Oklahoma City. To create room on the active roster, the Dodgers placed left-handed reliever Tony Cingrani on the 10-day disabled list with a left shoulder strain and optioned left-handed pitcher Caleb Ferguson to OKC.

Báez, 30, who was optioned to Oklahoma City prior to last night’s game, has appeared in 28 games with Los Angeles this season going 2-3 with a 3.25 ERA (10 ER/27.2 IP) and has struck out 35 batters against 16 walks in 27.2 innings of relief. In his last nine games with the Dodgers since May 19, the Dominican Republic native has posted a 1-1 record and has allowed just two runs (one earned) over 8.0 innings (1.13 ERA) and has held hitters to a .148 average (4-for-27), while punching out eight batters against five walks.

Paredes, 31, will make his third stint with the big league club this season and has appeared in one game with Los Angeles, tossing 0.2 scoreless innings of relief on May 3 at Arizona. In 18 relief appearances with Oklahoma City this year, the southpaw has gone 2-2 with two saves and has posted a 2.00 ERA (4 ER/18.0 IP), while limiting the opposition to a .224 average. He has also struck out 24 batters over 18.0 innings.

Cingrani, 28, was taken out of the game last night against the Pirates after facing one batter, which he walked. The southpaw, who will make his second stint on the disabled list this season (previous: May 9-19, left shoulder inflammation), has gone 1-2 with a 4.84 ERA (12 ER/22.1 IP) and has struck out 36 batters against just six walks over 22.1 innings.

Ferguson, 21, made his Major League debut last night with the start against the Pirates, allowing four runs on two hits over 1.2 innings as he did not factor in the decision. He struck out three batters and issued three walks, while also hitting two hitters.

    Hope Ferguson gets another start.

Santana gets his second start today, hoping for the best.

Read some of the comments from AC and Mark about Verdugo and his attitude and how Kemp, Ethier, and Harper have played with bad attitudes at times. AC is down on Verdugo because as he says, Verdugo hasn’t earned the right to act like Harper.” I would hate to think that at some point if you play the game better then most you get a pass to act like a jerk, disrespect your fellow players and the game, no one ever gets that pass. Their attitude comes from being self-centered, egotistic, an I am bigger than the game attitude and a sense of entitlement. I don’t want Harper on the Dodgers and if Verdugo is indeed showing this attitude, then trade him.

    Dodgers get the win today.

  16. Peter JJune 7, 2018

Let the financial games begin with the kids and lets head out to Ogden Utah or Az… to begin their major lg. careers!!! Oh to have had that chance…

AC now you’ve got me worried!!! Grabbing the lil woman and heading to beautiful downtown Fresno Ca. and watching OKC this coming weekend… Not exactly one of my wife’s favorite destinations unless were heading over to the Sierras after to find some trout that want to die…

Dodgers Food Trailer

I did this interview a couple of weeks ago with Chef Mike, who runs the Dodgers Food Trailer for the Great Lakes Loons. They are there for every home and road regular season and playoff game. They prepare three meals a day for approximately 50 people (players and coaches). Since games end late most evenings, they do not prepare breakfast. Many of their hotels have a complimentary breakfast anyway. However,…

Meet LAD 2026 Draft Picks 1-12

3 picks were High School players (2 SS and 1 OF). There was a college OF, college catcher, college SS, and 10 college pitchers. Of all the talk for a need for a catcher, the only catcher the Dodgers selected was Luke Bard, son of LAD bullpen coach Josh Bard. Bard was a 4th year senior from Houston Christian University. He is not a prospect, so the Dodgers are still…

Interview with Paul Beachy – Team Bus Driver For The Great Lakes Loons (LA Dodgers Minor League Team)

It’s been a few days since I did this interview. We have evidently been working my son-in-law (the video guy) like a rented mule at US Water Systems. However, I am taking him to London with me in a few days, so maybe Watford will buy him a pint as a tip, but he’s a dang Red Sox fan, so there is that! I thought that it would be interesting…

Thanks for Your Service: Chris Taylor

I was going to do this post when Chris announced he was retiring, then he changed his mind, but since the chances of him ever playing for the Dodgers again are slim and non-existent, I will go ahead with this post. He unretired, went on the IL, then decided to call it quits on May 24th. Taylor was born in Virginia Beach VA on August 29th, 1990. He attended Great…
