Disagree, not disagreeable
So, Puig is available!
Getting rid of Oaks makes me think that Kershaw will be with us for a while.
It appears that NYY will be signing Jace Peterson to a minor league contract. Once the Dodgers signed Angelo Mora as a Minor League Rule 5 draftee, and traded for Jake Peter, to go along with holdover Max Muncy, I am sure that FAZ said we have enough LH hitting infielders to compete. If one looks like they can be a #25, then they have one. If not, then Trayce Thompson, Rob Segedin, or an eighth reliever will be #25.
MLB Radio on the Scott Alexander: “This is another excellent trade. You don’t know much about Alexander now… BUT YOU WILL. This is another example of how Friedman and Zaidi are smarter than anyone else.!
What about Zack’s annual ST shot in the shoulder??? How long will that last???
Wasn’t Zack playing the mercinary role with the Blue???
Here is another trade option…I do like crazy in the winter time….Greinke for Kemp, Arbuennna (or however you spell it) plus $5 million each year of the contract. Arizona gains some long term financial flexibility to sign Martinez, Dodgers get the number 2 starter they need for the next few years until Greinke ends as a number 5 starter. I see him lasting that long.
Bradley 2017 line: .245 .323 .402 .726
Bogaerts 2017 line: .273 .343 .403 .746
.
I’ve read that Red Sox would like to get more production from one of these two positions.
Bradley would add defense for the Dodgers in CF.
Puig could CF for the Sox and add offense there fore them.
Sox are trying to sign Martinez to get a righty power bat.
.
I’m glad the Sox declined.
Could be revisited if they don’t sign Martinez.
Earlier this winter, the Dodgers asked if Red Sox would have interest in discussing a deal involving Bradley for Puig – more floating the idea than a trade proposal. Sox declined. What the exchange says about Bradley’s value and Sox’ options.
I might miss it too (I’ve missed the last 3), becaue of surgery too.

The Doctor said I needed a frontal lobotomy, but I misundertood and thought he said “a bottle in front of me.”

My Mistake!
Hi Pete – Happy New Year to you.
–
What’s up? Thought you’d just been under the knife?
Nothing serious I hope.
#5 hole is open!? Anybody thinking Darvish is close??? Just saying…
Maybe the first ST in years I’ll miss due to additional surgery.. Oh well chin up and ready for regular season and trout season…
Done forget Dylan Baker.
There will be a lot of shuffling this season back and forth to OKC.

From a purely baseball standpoint, this is a good trade for the Dodgers. For me it is bittersweet. I had hoped that Trevor would pitch for the Dodgers. He would be the first from his high school to reach the majors. Not only that, I am familiar with him and his family. He is a tremendous young man of exceptional character. The type of man you would want your daughter to marry. He has worked relentlessly to get where he’s at. Barring injury, I’m sure he’ll find a measure of success with the Royals.
In a way Alexander is Morrow. According to link posted by Mark, Alexander is a diabetic.

From the looks of it, the Dodgers get a reliable lefty in the pen, and a potential lefty hitting infielder, and bring themselves a little further below the luxury tax threshold, giving them just little more financial flexibility.
I posted about 6 hours ago in the previous thread that the Dodgers were rumored to acquire Alexander. Chris Camello beat the talking heads again on him.
True Blue LA is reporting that the Dodgers don’t make up any ground under cap (luxury tax) due to the money that they are sending to the other teams in the deal. It is essentially a swap of Avilan for Alexander (Avilan is out of options but Alexander has 5 more years of team control and a lower salary next year) and Oaks for Peter.
–
Question – the Dodgers’ starting 5 is not going to start all of the games. Oaks was to be essential depth this year. Now what? I think the Dodgers view Stripling as a reliever. Stewart has done nothing as a starter to inspire confidence. Buehler is not ready for prime time although he may be later in the year and Urias hasn’t yet recovered from surgery. Just say “no” to Faucet Man Koehler please (as a starter anyway).

Who starts when the 1st Dodgers starter hits the DL this year?
Here’s a piece on Alexander from last summer:

Jake Peter was the ChiSox #16 prospect last year.
Looks like I hit the three link moderation purgatory so here goes again without the links

Trevor Oaks about to be traded?
Maybe everybody is like me. I get excited when pitchers and catchers report.
–
And it wouldn’t hurt to have a better idea what the team will look like on opening day, even though we know that opening day could look a lot different than the start of ST.
–
I’m just excited to be a Dodgers’ fan who believes that the team is headed in the right direction.
I guess no one is excited about Spring Training….
