Preview of Weekend Series with Brewers

The Dodgers are about face a very tough NL adversary, Milwaukee Brewers.  The Brewers have reached the playoffs 7 out of the last 8 years.  They have reached NLCS in two of them, both times they lost to Dodgers (2018 and 2025).  The Dodgers also beat Milwaukee in the 2020 Wild Card.

They are widely considered one of the best organizations in development of pitchers.  They are almost always near the top of the MLB pitching stats.  2026 is more of the same.

The Dodgers have the second best record in the NL, and Milwaukee is virtually the same.  The LAD winning % is .620 while the Brewers is .617.  The Dodgers have played 3 more games than Milwaukee.

The Dodgers are in 1st in the NL West, 1.5 games ahead of San Diego.  The Brewers are in 1st in the NL Central, 1.5 games ahead of Cubs.

The pitching matchups for the weekend series is:

  • LHSP Justin Wrobleski vs 24 year old RHSP Logan Henderson
  • RHSP Roki Sasaki vs 27 year old LHSP Robert Gasser
  • RHSP Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs 25 year old RHSP Brandon Sproat

As previously mentioned the Dodgers are not scheduled to face the Brewers top 2 SP:  24 year old RHSP Jacob Misiorowski and 24 year old LHSP Kyle Harrison.  As an aside, it sure is great to know that Harrison is not pitching for the Giants.  Another misstep by Buster Posey???

Henderson has 4 starts, 18.0 IP, 3.50 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, .235 BAA. Henderson was Milwaukee’s 4th round pick in the 2021 draft.

Gasser had 6 starts at Nashville (AAA), and 1 start in MLB (4 innings). Gasser was San Diego’s 2nd round pick in the 2021 draft.  He was part of the Josh Hader 2022 deadline trade. I am particularly interested in Gasser. He is from El Dorado Hills, CA where I reside. He went to the same high school as my grandson currently goes to.

Sproat has 7 starts and 2 relief appearances.  He has compiled 40.2 innings, 5.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP. And .257 BAA.  Sproat was a NYM 2nd round 2023 draft pick.  He was traded to Milwaukee last winter in the Freddy Peralta trade.
