It pains me to say this, but Bobby is just not quite right in the head. Oh, he’s not crazy—he’s just confused and has lost all his confidence. He has to learn either to throw another fastball with a different grip and better spin and to trust his pitches or start over. It won’t happen this year, and he needs to go to Camelback Ranch and work on rebuilding his repertoire and career. The harsh reality is that this is a time of year when they can no longer experiment. I have not lost confidence in Bobby Miller for next year, but this year, he is toast! Maybe he needs some ADHD medication, as he seems to lose focus at times…
Yoshi Yamamoto is back. Jack Flaherty is pitching well, and so is Landon Knack. Glasnow should be back soon, and Kershaw will not be far off. Gavin Stone and Walker Buehler are wild cards, but it appears that there are enough starters for the playoffs, and there is no more time to “fix” Bobby Miller. I’d rather see Wrobleski start because we know he will not make the playoff roster. In short, right about now, it is demoralizing for the team to see Bobby Miller take the mound. Simply put, “Just wait until next year, Bobby!”
Tyler Glasnow can throw all his pitches and threw a very aggressive bullpen session this week. He will pitch a simulated game in Atlanta over the weekend, and if all goes well (and I hear that it is) he will start a game for OKC the week of the 23rd and return to the Dodgers rotation right after that. It would be nice to have Clayton, and he is progressing, but Yamamoto, Flaherty, Glasnow and Knack will work. Kershaw and Stone will be determined later.
After losing two games, it was important to get the win last night as the Dodgers are now one game behind the Braves with 16 games to go. It may be a struggle until the end of the season, but the Dodgers will make the playoffs. That we know. Now, they hard to ATL to play three this weekend. Knack, Flaherty and Buehler will go, in that order. This is a big one for Buehler.
This week was the first time I had traveled since March, when I had to attend a convention in Orlando. It’s been a whirlwind of a year, with buying a new home, moving, construction, and relocating our business this month. As I mentioned earlier in the week, I flew into St. George, Utah, to meet with a Penguin Water Dealer who also has facilities in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Durango, Colorado. I did 9 hours of training with their crew on Tuesday, followed by dinner at BalconyOne Restaurant in Virgin Utah near Zion National Park’s entrance. If you have never been here, you should go – I am going back! Wednesday was additional training, which started at 6 AM and was followed by media interviews and video shoots until 4 PM. Then, at 7:00. I went to dinner with the owner and his wife. Great People! It was a long day, and this morning, I am flying back to Indy. See you on the weekend.
Finally, I am not going to get sucked into an argument. Certain people are not welcome to post here, and they have earned that right. When you wrestle with a pig, you get muddy, and the pig likes it! Go away!

I sure hope we are not one game behind the Braves 🙂
I am perfectly fine with the 2 seed.
Also its a 4 game wraparound series. I hate those.
The Braves have 8 less wins than the Dodgers, but they acquired Canan Biggio to destroy us.
😉
I think you’re right. Miller seems to be battling himself.
It may not be the biggest trade deadline haul in terms of star power, but the Dodgers front office certainly acquired some very good impact players. Difference makers. Can’t say enough about Edman.
If those pitchers are healthy, the Dodgers are good to go.
If Miller’s season is over, why isn’t Buehler’s season over also?
Walks. In his last game, Bobby walked 4.
Walker walked just 1.
Both have issues, but I think it is likely (due to maturity) that Walker can fix his sooner than Bobby… but Sunday may be Walkers’ last start too.
In the ever-evolving battle for #4 SP in postseason, I now give you current leader . . . Landon Knack, with Kershaw close behind and Wrobleski the longshot.
Buehler & Miller don’t belong near a postseason mound right now.
And the freakiest outcome has Gonsolin winning the #4 job.
One other factor is if Vesia is only LHRP. Kershaw or Wrobleski could sneak in for pen role.
There’s a chance Gonsolin is in the mix. He should get one more start at OKC… maybe 2.
He honestly should be. If he can throw 4-5 innings and not shit the bed, that could be enough.
Joe Kelly begins rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday
Wednesday scores
Oklahoma City 7, Tacoma 6 (10 innings)
Tulsa 5, Wichita 3
Thursday schedule
5:05 p.m. PT: Oklahoma City (TBA) vs. Tacoma (Emerson Hancock)
5:05 p.m.: Tulsa (Jackson Ferris) at Wichita (Cory Lewis)
There is a lot to be decided in the next 16 games.
Most of it should be good.
It is pretty obvious that (barring injury) KK is not going to make the playoff roster.
The pitching will be decided at the end. The 13 healthiest will make it. I won’t even try and predict.
If Gonsolin can go 3 or 4 innings in his next outing, he will get called up.
Bill Plaschke is stumping for Ohtani to pitch in the playoffs… out of the bullpen:
https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/story/2024-09-12/shohei-ohtani-dodgers-playoff-relief-pitching
I would say NO!
Game 7 in the World Series at Dodger stadium….im game!!!
Interesting idea from Plaschke. Won’t happen, but provocative thought. And it would a helluva finish to a helluva season.
What are the chances of Banda getting back? One article I read suggested the injury isn’t that severe. An extra lefty could come in handy.
That might be Clayton
Clayton or Ohtani in relief gives me visions of 2019 playoffs. Better to stick with the guys who got you there.
2020 Urias?
Leaving KK off the roster would signal the Dodgers are standing behind their “numbers” determine the roster position. I love it. I love Kersh too but not enough to take a roster spot. I don’t think KK is a good pen option because he typically struggles when he first takes the mound.
KK=Kiermaier. CK=Kershaw
Miller will get one more start per Dave Roberts on the post-game show last night. It will come in Miami next week. After that, Dave said, we’ll see. Knack pitches Friday against Schellenbach, Flaherty gets Sale on Saturday, Buehler gets Morton on Sunday and Yoshi is pitching against Freid on Monday. Need at least a split.
Correct me if I’m wrong,….wait one, none of us are ever wrong in are own minds. 5 days in between starts is the new normal. Game 1 starter will pitch on 4 days rest, if there’s a game 5. That would be short rest in the new normal. Wow. The game sure is changing.
Book em
Miss the old days when starters went 9.
I don’t know about you, but I am wrong a lot!
Ok you’re right. I was wrong once, many times. Just ask my beautiful wife of 40 years.

I rarely disagree with the Dodger’s decisions, but I do not see any reason to give Bobbly Miller another chance this year. It’s demoralizing to the team and he needs to redo his fastball. Even at 99 MPH, it is a big fat lollypop! He’s not going to fix it this year. Move on…
I read that by metrics it’s the worst fastball in the league
Yes it is very hittable. It’s BP for hitters.
Zach Logue, a 28 year-old LH Swingman could be an option for the last week of the season if the Dodgers have clinched and want to rest some arms. He’s been in the Brave system and pitched all year at AAA where he had a 2.68 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP in 90 IP both as a starter and reliever.
He pitched 3 innings last night for OKC and was better than Bobby Miller! 3 IP, 5 H, 1 ER
Bear, I miss those days of complete games, too. My all-time sports hero, “the left arm of God”,
had 11 shutouts and 20 CG in’63 and in ’65 and ’66 had 27 CG. Now 7 innings is monumental accomplishment.
Most of the pitchers in the MLB are lucky if they can pitch 5 innings in any given game. MLB is proposing to have pitchers go at least 6 innings under certain circumstances. Good luck with that!
“Major League Baseball (MLB) is considering a rule change that would require starting pitchers to throw at least six innings per game. The rule would be part of an effort to restore the value of starting pitching, reduce the number of pitching injuries, and increase the amount of action in games”.
Mickey Hatcher was the subject of Houston Mitchells’ Newsletter today. In part he said:
Question: During the time you played, pitchers threw complete games and seemed to avoid the injuries we are seeing today. Do you have an opinion as to what could be causing these injuries?
Hatcher: Compared to when I played, pitchers are definitely stronger and more powerful. We didn’t have the weight rooms and our pitchers weren’t built like tanks. Back then, pitchers used to go in the training room and rub heat on their arms, go out, loosen up, get in the bullpen, pitch, and go out there and pitch a game. And I think there’s a big factor to that. Nowadays, the workout programs for the pitchers are just unbelievable. How many pitches do these guys throw before they even go to the mound, before they get in the game? It’s amazing. So a lot of these things have come up when I talk to guys in my era who watch what’s going on. It was interesting to see the Dodgers’ general manager say, “We might have to look into our pregame workouts.”
Back in our day, guys did pitch with sore arms and injuries. Now they shut down everybody. So, it was a different era. Back then most of these guys didn’t have the multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts. There were a lot of guys out there that were pitching hurt, but they pitched through it. I’m not saying that the guys nowadays are wimps. But they’re more protected because they are paid more money. And that’s just how the game is now.
There are exceptions, Like if they give up 4 runs before that. So Miller and Bueler would be excused if that were the rule this year
Joe Kelly also pitched an inning for OKC with 1 BB and 1 K. He had several pitches at 99 and one at 99.5. If healthy, he will be on the playoff roster!
I’m not a Joe Kelly fan and he is too inconsistent to be on the playoff roster. My opinion.
It seems the Dodgers view him differently
If he has control he is very very tough to hit and he gives the Dodgers some swag/edginess.

“The Dodgers have not ruled out having Shohei Ohtani pitch in some capacity in October. He has missed most of the season after undergoing his second Tommy John surgery last fall.
“Shohei’s on board with continuing his rehab process and I wouldn’t put it past him to have an eye on that,” manager Dave Roberts said of his chances of pitching in October. “We’ll just see how it plays out.”
It may be a little late for Ohtani to return as a starter this October, but he could possibly come out of the bullpen. Roberts seems encouraged by his superstar’s rehab process, and if Ohtani does return, the Dodgers will receive a major boost for the postseason.
This season will be the first time Ohtani will have experienced the postseason. If he can do so as a hitter and a pitcher, October will certainly be special for him.
The Dodgers could use all the help they can get, as their pitching staff has been decimated by injuries this year. Yoshinobu Yamamoto has been out for a while, and Tyler Glasnow has made multiple trips to the injured list, so it wouldn’t hurt for the Dodgers to have Ohtani available to pitch in some capacity.
Ultimately, everything depends on how his rehab goes. Returning to pitching this season while also putting together an MVP-caliber year at the plate would be a nice comeback story for Ohtani as his legend continues to grow”.
NOT GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!
Glasnow didn’t complete his scheduled simulated game Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
“Glasnow went straight to the clubhouse after warming up in the bullpen instead of facing hitters in a 2-to-3-inning simulated game. It’s unclear why he couldn’t complete the session, but it’s a situation worth monitoring in the coming days. Glasnow hasn’t thrown for the Dodgers since Aug. 11 due to elbow tendinitis. Barring a setback, he’s expected to rejoin the rotation in a week or so”.
This is starting to look grim:
1. Flaherty
2. Yamamoto
3. Buehler
4. Knack
We better be up 2-0 going into game 3
Dang. The new game 4 starter.
Stone. Yeah sure
Kershaw. I hope
Striker. If I have too
Miller. Worst case
Wroblewski. Insert after Kershaw
Logue. ?
Book em
Gonsolin would fit in perfectly.

I am not worried. It’s a lot better than last year.
I am worried. A third option stepping up is needed.
Knack
Gonsolin
Kershaw
Buehler
Miller
Some one
The simulated game for Tyler Glasnow on Friday in Atlanta did not happen as planned, as the Dodgers right-hander felt discomfort in his right elbow, manager Dave Roberts told reporters before the series opener against the Braves at Truist Park.
In my opinion,Glasnow’s season is now over in 2024 and maybe 2025 if elbow surgery is required at this late date.
Stone (shoulder) is expected to begin his throwing program this weekend, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
“Stone landed on the 15-day injured list Sept. 6 due to right shoulder inflammation. The Dodgers’ rotation has taken a hit with Stone, Clayton Kershaw (toe) and Tyler Glasnow (elbow) all on the IL, but Stone’s progression to starting a throwing program is at least a step in the right direction with the playoffs just around the corner. Stone has an 11-5 record across 25 starts this season with a 3.53 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 140.1 innings”.
How many starting pitchers do you have to stockpile tp make it through a full season and playoffs? Very concerning!
Our pitching staff is cursed! It is freaking ridiculous!Unbelievable! Its like well you went out and spent a billion dollars but it went do you any good, cause Karma is coming and it is gonna screw your pitchers all your long.
Hard to win a game when your top three goes 0-11.
Top 5 was 1-19.
And we haven’t seen Sale and Fried yet.
Fucking hell:
1. Flaherty
2. Yamamoto
3. Buehler
4. Gonsolin?
Apparently Miller is going to get at least one more start, so maybe just maybe he’ll pretty please do OK.
Knack was due for a rough outing. I still trust him more than Miller.
Fingers crossed on Glasnow. I assume he was shut down as a precaution, and would later pitch through the “discomfort” with the playoffs closer.
The only think different between yesterday and today is Glasnow missed a sim. Remember the Dbags swept us with Gallen, Kelly & Phat…close enough. I’ll take Jack, Yoshi & Landon any day. Kersh and Stoney wouldn’t hurt either. Compared to last year we’re flying with aces.
