Clayton Kershaw has said that he intends to play at least one more season. Most Dodger fans assume that it will be with the Dodgers. I don’t think that is a given. He could decide to be the Ranger’s Ace in 2023: Play at home, have his kids there every game, and go home to his own bed. Oh, and the Rangers would likely hand him a blank check. On top of that, he will always be a Dodger, and he would likely sign a one-day contract to retire as a Dodger sometime in the future. Clayton will go into the Hall of Fame as a Dodger, but don’t assume that he will play for the Dodgers next year. Enjoy it while it lasts.
The only thing we know for sure is that Clayton Kershaw is a Dodger right now. We know that he will start Game Two today. We know that if the Dodgers take this series, that Clayton will be a key part of the Dodger’s rotation going into the NLCS and maybe the World Series. Enjoy it while it lasts. If I were Clayton, I would think hard about playing in Texas next year. In the interim, Clayton has a Game, an NLDS, an NLCS, and a World Series to win.
Clayton, it’s all on you today. Let’s show them what you have! I’d like to see him go seven and shut down the San Die (what they should do) go Clowns.
Notes & News
- Chris Martin – Closer? It makes sense. He has the stuff, and most important;ly, he has the experience.
- Trea Turner showed he is not going to shrink in the playoffs.
- Will Smith did so as well – Today, some others need to step up.
- Gavin Lux looked good with the bat and on defense.
- Mike Clevinger is worse than Trevor Bauer’s (and his) ex-girlfriend.
- I do not like anything about the Padres.
- I will be in the air during the game tomorrow, but Southwest better have the WiFi thing working.
- Is today a Gallo day?
- I can hardly wait – Hawaii will soon be in the rear-view mirror.

Note No 1: Martin has playoff experience, but as a closer not much, he only has 9 or had saves
Notes 2, 3, 4 and 5: I agree
Note 8: I think so, same lineup, with the exception of Gallo over Thmpson in LF
Note 6: I don’t like it, I love the Padres
Just kidding, I don’t think it’s necessary to say what I feel about that son of a bitch team!
Have a good trip back.
I expect a different closer–if one is needed.
Treinen and May were deemed healthy enough to play–and, obviously, better than Kimbrel. That’s a lot of stuff right there–and, of course, Treinen has plenty of closer experience. May can be just so nasty.
Looking around at the other games, the Phillies delivered a nice surprise, while that Houston broke Seattle’s heart. That was rough. Hoping that Seattle and Cleveland can bounce back.
Here’s hoping Clayton can dominate tomorrow….
Martin showed he has the stuff and the nerves to close. I would give him the call again today if there is a save opportunity.
Vesia did an amazing job giving the team 1.2 scoreless but the biggest game arguably was the inning ending dp in the 6th that Phillipps induced. Nice stop and feed by Lux to TT was a thing of beauty.
I was hoping Doc would keep Vesia in the game to face Soto and it worked well.
1 down, 10 to go!
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Vesia! He’s quickly becoming one of my favorite players.
Yup. He’s a bulldog. Cool dude.
I love Vessia too! Several weeks ago I proposed him as a potential closer to replace Kimbrel. Now, I think the way he was used last night illustrates why he should continue as a late inning specialist. I like Mark’s idea of trying Martin as the closer; I like his good stuff, control and calm demeanor. I also would like to see Treinen brought into a middle innings relief role soon and if he performs well he is another potential closer….
Martin and Graterol should be available today after throwing 11 and 1 pitches respectively yesterday.
Phillpps and Vesia probably will not be available.
That should give Doc enough options with the pen.
Hopefully our offense can get something going against Darvish. He has looked very good lately.
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!
I seriously doubt Clayton would go to any other team for his last season. Just sayin!
I agree. The temptation to play at home will be countered by his strong desire to win. He needs two more seasons to get to 3000 K’s. If I were him, I would want that.
It all depends upon your perspective. You think he won’t go because it is his last season while I think that is the very reason he might be inclined to go .
Love the game played by TT, Will and Lux. JT, Mookie and FF with some bad looking AB’s in some RBI situations while the Dodger BP was “lights out.”
Darvish has about ten different pitches in his bag of tricks and is pitching very well. I just hope just the Dodgers stay patient, pass the baton, get each AB to a good offensive count and then rip it. Dodgers need CK to pitch a gem and the offense needs to get to the Padres BP. I don’t expect the Padres BP to keep us off the board two nights in a row.
Mark- good luck on your flight home, but I don’t think the Southwest Airlines channel line-up has FS1 as one of their channel offerings.
If you sign up for fubo TV free trial you can get the game, as long as the Wi-Fi thing is working on the plane
Haven’t seen Freddy look that bad all year. I hope he wasn’t bummed out by the Braves losing…… just kidding!!
Freddie will step it up agst Darvish. He hits him pretty well usually.
The game last night was something we have watched all season. That is, score early and then the offense shuts down for the rest of the game. The BP was outstanding after Urias lost his stuff after only four innings. The players did their jobs. Dave Roberts is a genius. The DH is Roberts’ best friend right now.
More of the same for the next 10 games to put a huge exclamation mark on their 2022 season.
Carry on.
Good first tune-up game of the postseason.
Julio pitched well enough, but it wasn’t his best game. Well, he was pretty damn good until that last inning.
Doc did a great job managing the game. No pinch hitters, no use of the bench at all. The bullpen is Doc proof. There are no bad options.
Let’s check in on some of those ridiculous narratives.
The Dodgers are too dependent on the big three. – 1 RBI and 2 Runs from “The Big Three” 3 RBI and 3 runs for the rest of them. – Narrative Fail
Bullpen by committee seldom works – 4 scoreless holding onto a 2 run lead. – Narrative Fail
The bottom three is horrible – 2 of the 5 runs were sent in by the bottom three. – Narrative Fail
We fared a lot better than Patch’s new favorite team as they fall to the Red-Hot Phillies!
The Astros showed why they’re a great team erasing a two run deficit in the 9th winning on a walk off.
The team formerly known as the Indians just can’t seem to score runs and fell to the Yankees, as expected.
My biggest hope is that Kershaw puts in a post-season for the ages. Let’s go on a hot streak now.
A suggestion for the Dodgers fans at the game tonight. When Darvish gets his signs, just start randomly banging on trashcans to trigger his PTSD from ’17.
My favorite play of the game is a tie between that sweet double play to end the 6th and Belli’s infield single that was ruled an error after his HBP, that was ruled a foul ball.
Trayce squared up a couple of balls, there’s no need to start Gallo.
I can’t wait for the game tonight. Go Blue!
Speaking of PTSD, I think I made the Big Three comment over a week ago. You’re fixated on that. Do you wake up in a cold sweat screaming “Big Three!! … dodgerpatch!!”
And the man talking on the screen says the Braves are good, so they must be.
https://youtu.be/-I08U9KYBSY
No Patch, the only time I think about you is when you post nonsense. So when you don’t post, I don’t think of you at all. Go get that chord checked out.
Even if sarcastic and not full of self-import this was NOT a very useful and productive response B&P.
Can we have fewer like it, please?
I watched your Braves kumbaya video. Great analysis. Sadly, when I compare us, position by position to the Braves by OPS for hitters, they are better at three positions and we’re better at the other 6. That is called disparity.
When I compared their Rotation to ours, it’s even worse. We’re a perfect 5 for 5 sorting by ERA.
Bullpen? You guessed it. Sorting by ERA it’s 6-2. No wonder the Dodgers have better team stats in all categories.
Oh, and judging by your mental gymnastics regarding odds to win the World Series. Explain to me which team is favored. I’d love to see your math. No team is favored is not a valid answer, obviously, since someone has to win.
WAIT. Full disclosure.
I think I may be too harsh with my tone, changing it….
I haven’t been reading every back and forth on this, so I’m just going to weigh in with the proviso that I may be arguing a point that isn’t the point you are alluding to.
Only one team can win the World Series.
There are, now, EIGHT (8) teams who can win the World Series
It’s much more likely that any team NOT named the Dodgers (i.e. any of SEVEN teams) will win the World Series contra the chances that a team named the Dodgers will.
The Dodgers are more likely to win the world series than any other single team.
That’s it. That’s the point.
This is basic probability and chance.
IOW:
The Dodgers right now are +200, which is (more or less, because it’s Vegas and there are other influences on the line) 2/1. Or 1/2 for the rest of this discussion. You get two dollars for every one. (Or two hundred for every one hundred wagered.)
They are the favorite. The Astros are 2nd favorite, FWIW
1/2 odds implies a one in three chance of winning the World Series. That means every three times the World Series is played a team NOT named the Dodgers will win it twice.
N.B. The formula I used to convert from odds to a probability, is divide the odds by one plus the odds. So to convert odds of 1/2 to a probability, divide 1/2 by 3/2 to obtain the probability of 0.33.
N.B. #2: this obviously doesn’t extend to parimutuel betting, like at the track.
You’re going down a rabbit hole that’s going to give you a headache.
1. The Dodgers have the best odds of any current playoff team to win the WS.
2. The odds are against the Dodgers winning the WS.
Points 1 and 2 are not mutually exclusive. As you wrote yesterday, it’s not hard.
It’s like explaining sound engineering to Nigel Tufnel.
https://youtu.be/4xgx4k83zzc
Bluto and Patch, look at it in context, not just trying to prove your own point. The fact is that no other team is favored higher, therefore the Dodgers are favored. You’re just doing a bad job of using math to argue semantics. You know what you’re doing, I know what you’re doing and it’s not working.
It’s ridiculously stupid to constantly come on this site and complain about the shortcomings of the best team in baseball. One that put up historic numbers in wins and run differential. I don’t see the point, unless you’re just trying to cope with your own lack of confidence.
The tone used in Patches’ response to my post was just begging for a fight, so don’t come here and lecture me about “productive” and “useful”. If you pick a fight with me, I will fight you. End of story.
Here’s a review…
Another day, another episode of Bill Swerski’s Superfans here on LADT.
“The Dodgers won 111 games. They are historic! They are magnificent! They are PERFECT! It’s guaranteed they’ll win the WS.”
“But the Dodgers won 111 games!! They are historic!!
Yeah, I know. That’s nice.
“That’s nonsense talk!! The Dodgers are perfect! They won 111 games!”
Yeah, you mentioned that already.
I think you get the point.
And I quote:
“Statistically speaking, the Dodgers will NOT win the World Series. Their odds are better than anyone else’s, but the odds are still not in their favor to win it all.
Please stop embarrassing yourself with math. If their odds are better than anyone else, then by definition, they are favored to win it all.”
The bullpen is ALMOST Doc proof. I don’t want to see Andrew “home run allowing” Heaney and his home run rate, unless there is a blowout game and he is needed to eat some innings. And if Doc uses Graterol like he did yesterday, Just to get that final out of the inning against a RHB, I’m somewhat OK with that, but there still is a chance in the future Graterol doesn’t get that final out and is forced to face at least 1 if not more LHB. He might not be able to intentionally walk LHB’s (like your example you always gave me) and in the playoffs do you really want to intentionally walk anyone. And will Doc make that call to intentionally walk someone or 2.
But all in all the bullpen is close to Doc proof though.
I agree no need to start Gallo he is really useless. Just continue to play the same lineup. The bench is horrible. Gallo, Barnes, Taylor and Vargas.
Clayton Kershaw a Ranger? Naw! He wouldn’t do that to me. He’s what heroes are made of and it ain’t the paycheck he does it for. He’s enjoying his game without stress and doing it for the faithful showing how it’s supposed to be done. The only part of me that wants the Astros to win the Pennant is for Kershaw to dish them some of what he thinks of them. What an unsportsmanship way they got they’re ring that Manfred allows then to proudly fit in their underwear drawer. Chickenshit bastards. I fully expect another great performance tonight by the Dodger on the mound. No sweat!
Oops! ‘their ring’ not they’re ring.
B&P: I fully agree on the Bellinger hit called an error. Even if Myers fields the ball cleanly, there is no way he beats Belli to the bag and Clevenger also clearly loses that race. Bad scoring, should have been called a hit.
Yep, that’s how I saw it too.
Did anyone else wonder if Gallo could have snagged that Wil Myers HR? Seems like Thompson jumped into the wall rather than straight up. It took several inches off his leap. Gallo looks pretty tall to me, the Golden Glove might have shined in the field last night. I have caught flack about wanting Manny back even with his character flaws. He sure can dominate at 3rd and the plate. Their best player IMO.
There were three plays in that inning that were critical that involved Trayce. I don’t really fault him, but I can’t help but wonder if a stud defensive outfielder could have made, not only the HR catch, but a better a jump and dive on that double and gotten off a quicker and more accurate throw to the plate on that sac fly.
Do you think the Dodger’s have a stud out fielder on the bench who could have made those play’s just curious. If so who is he?
I don’t know. I think Bellinger could have snagged that Homer- we’ve seen him do it against SD before. As for the other plays, although Gallo is by most accounts a better defensive fielder than Thompson, I’m not sure he could have caught that ball that went for the double.
Mostly I was just thinking aloud. I personally think defense matters a little more in short series versus a long season. Critical plays carry more significance.
It never crossed my mind about Gallo making that play. If he jumped higher the fan who made a feeble attempt to catch the ball would have interfered with him. The might have, could of, possibly, etc can take the enjoyment out of watching the game. After all, the Dodgers did win despite lots of maybes and could of by the team. I’ll take Trayce all day over Gallo right now.
You are entitled to want Manny Machado on the Dodgers. But, he wasn’t the type of player the front office or the fans wanted on the team. Super talented, but not a team guy. Not a Dodger!
Fans gotta have something to complain about Ted. I doubt Gallo would have been any better on any of those plays. As it was Trayce misread the play and was at least 6 inches away from where the ball hit the fans hands. His throw home hit Kim and Smith made an awesome bare handed catch to even put the tag on the guy. They won, but fans still find things to complain about.
Was someone complaining?
Sure sounded like OC was.
There’s only one player on the Dodgers that would’ve made that play with ease, and he was in centerfield where he should’ve been
Beg to differ. Nobody would make that play “with ease.”
Trayce is tall, very athletic and maybe–just maybe–has a shot if he wasn’t too close to the wall. Same with Belli, Gallo and Mookie. He’s not tall but has terrific hops, as he showed the Braves a couple years back.
But any catch would have been absolutely spectacular.
I feel the same way. Chances are you aren’t going to get that many really close plays in the same game again. I think this is an anomaly. Not to mention, everyone seems to get stuck on that left field wall. I distinctly remember Pollock and Lux having that issue as well. What do you think would have happened if Vargas was out there? Geesh.
Nope, OC Dodger
I wasn’t complaining (it was a victory). I was noting that as he hit the wall, it stunted his upward motion. I still think, a taller fielder and a clean jump, that is a catch-able ball. It was just an observation, not a complaint (don’t be sissies). I also observed how good Manny is. He was/is a punk, I remember him leaning into a base runner which I thought was poor form for a professional. I also think the Dodger environment could help keep him in check. Anyway, I’d be happy to have him manning third base here if he opts out. Doubtful I realize, but the man has skills! He creates the most anxiety at the plate for the Padres.
Why would Kershaw go to the Rangers? People here have been chattering about that for years. Badger was obsessed with this. I would think the desire to not end a storied career buried in a losing franchise would outstrip the pleasure of seeing your kids off to school in the morning. The Rangers tried to go all AJ Preller and and buy wins and it has so far failed spectacularly. I was looking at the details of Seager’s contract, and he has no opt outs. Have fun with that, Cory. At least you got the dough.
Who knows? Maybe if Kershaw gets a WS this year he can feel he’s accomplished everything he needs to in LA and can do something different in Texas, and I guess there is something to watching your kids grow up. It only happens once, and a man’s priorities can change a little as he gets a little older. Still, Texas has a lot of work to do to make that franchise competitive. The pitching is atrocious and wasn’t fixed when they went on the spending binge for infielders. I think Cory was sold on the idea that they were turning things around and would be competitive.
What did you all think about the announcers?
I didnt like AJ much at all. The other guy was tolerable. Was supposed to be a 4K broadcast, wasnt always 4K for me….
Matt, as Dodger fans we have been privileged to have the best for over 60 years. Most of the announcers today are not even close to Vin or even Joe Davis for that matter. I still do not really care for Davis all that much, but he is better than what the Rockies fans have to listen too. Too many of them today sound like Joe Buck clones. They have no style and very little rhythm for the game. The only one who knew what the hell he was talking about was the reporter in the dugout. AJ Pierzynski is one of those analysts who just loves the sound of his own voice. I have never cared much for any of FOX’s broadcast teams. Davis is pared with Smoltz who is another one who never shuts up. And I still detect an anti-Dodger vibe from most of them. It was all Padres this and Padres that.
* I don’t see Kershaw ever playing for anyone other than the Dodgers. Mark and I however, both said CK needed Tommy John and was likely done last season so I don’t have a great track record being Carnac with CK.
* It was agonizing to watch the Mariners lose that game to the Asstros. Their fans were clueless. Every frigging pitch Verlander threw that was 6 inches off the plate, the fans down the lines when nuts. They booed the crap out of HPU, Pat Hoberg, who is the best balls and strikes guy in the league and missed 2 pitches all day. Just unknowledgeable, bush league fans. Thankfully, Buzzy Altuve was 0 for 4 with 2 K’s. Tough call going to Robbie Ray but Servais tried to put the best guy in for the last out and Ray didn’t get it done. He’ll take heat but that’s baseball.
* According to A. J. Pierzynski the way to get the Dodgers out is “you tease them enough to get them to chase but don’t give them anything good”. There you go.
He also reported that our bullpen was getting depleted after using Phillips, Vesia and Graterol with Martin coming in. Oh, panic time, AJ. We only had Gonzo, Heaney, Treinen, Kahnle and Almonte left.
Geez Dude do your homework and don’t say dumb shit.
* As I predicted, Will needs to come up big. He did.
* Yeah that guy Trea Turner is horseshit. Can’t hit in the playoffs. Marginal defender. Let him walk. Anybody can play SS.
* There I go. Stop it! Don’t get cocky just yet. Lots of work left to do. The 12 hour rule applies. You get to feel good and puff out your chest for 12 hours and it’s back to work.
* But don’t be afraid to score after the 3rd.
I’m hoping for a Dodgers/Yankees World Series. They have played each other the most amount of times in the history of the World Series (11 times) and the Yankees won 8 and the Dodgers won 3. It’s payback time.
On another note, I can see Ferguson getting traded in the near future because I think it is a sign that management left him off the playoff roster and since he’s only under contract control for 2 more years. Players have more value in trades with more contract control.
I doubt they will ever catch the Yankees in Series wins against them. Just winning the series is enough. As for Ferguson I think his being left off of the playoff roster is more about his last several outings than what the organization thinks of him. He was lights out for several outings after he came off of the IL. He was on the bench and in uniform last night.
Agree with your comment on Ferguson, Eric.
Unless he’s hurt, and there’s no indication he is, I think his relationship with the front office is strained.
He already pretty much accused them of putting him on the IL earlier in the season when he didn’t need to go (or possibly wasn’t even injured), and then he wasn’t happy that they left him at OKC for such a long rehab.
Now they leave him off the playoff roster.
There will be a definite 40-man roster crunch this winter, and I’d bet he won’t be here come spring.
Question.
It may have been on the radio broadcast, it may have been on the TV broadcast. Hell, it may have even been on a preview show, but the announcers made a point about the travails of the Dodgers despite their big record.
How the team dealt with Kimbrel’s poor performance, Bellinger’s struggles, Buehler’s injury.
Notable for its absence in this laundry list is Bauer. Does anyone here think that’s a broadcast decision or it’s MLB putting soft pressure on its media partners to not bring Bauer up?
Please, please, please can we avoid mentioning:
Justice Kavanaugh
Sharia Law
Commies
In any response.
Not sure Bluto, but I have not seen any mention of Bauer at all in any of the analysis of the Dodgers . He seems to be persona non grata at any length.
I thought there was a direct correlation between Trevor Bauer and Sharia Law. I’m dismayed that you don’t think discussing Sharia Law in a baseball blog is appropriate.
And note to Bear: The above comment is what is called “sarcasm.” It is not meant to be taken seriously. It it meant to be humorous or introduce levity to a discussion. No, I’m not actually advocating that we discuss Sharia Law here. That would be absurd. You see, it’s the absurdity of that scenario – discussing Sharia Law in any relation to baseball – is what is humorous about it. That is what humor is – pointing out the absurd in world. Please to not delete my comments.
There’s was some guy (who I think was a troll) who literally went on this insane tirade equating the two, Patch.
It was bonkersville.
Like I give a rats ass about Sharia law or Bauer. I am not deleting anyone’s comments.
Good, because I believe you previously deleted a thread where Bluto and I were sparring with each other in an obviously humorous way about Communism … they were jokes.
I personally think there should be latitude in allowing what are very obviously humorous and non-antagonistic joking.
To most of the baseball world, except for Bauer’s online followers and some Dodger fans, Bauer has been totally forgotten. I think the lack of a Bauer mention was more due to that than any word from MLB.
I can’t believe that MLB can get away with dragging his appeal out for this long.
And what if the arbitrator decides to cut his penalty down? He’ll get paid, but the Dodgers (who haven’t been accused of anything except poor judgment in signing him) will be penalized, not only by not having his services when he technically would have been available in retrospect, but also with all the $ penalties that will be piled on for their payroll overages. It’s totally ridiculous.
I’m with you STB on Bauer and MLB dragging this out. First, it took ridiculously too long for a decision to be made by MLB. Despite the Pasadena Police taking their time, once they decided not to prosecute, MLB still was in no hurry. I guess their crackerJack investigative team was busy trying to dig up other gold diggers to interview all over the country.
And all the while, the Dodgers were held hostage. They paid millions and had to keep their mouths shut. Now that he is actually suspended for 2 years we are off the hook and no longer paying a steep tax for being so far over the tax ceiling. I guess? But with Bauer’s appeal are we still off the hook?
It’s obvious to me that MLB did everything possible to punish Bauer and the Dodgers as much as they could.
It was fascinating that the Dodgers were supposed to put together a roster this last spring without knowing how much money they were spending. Thanks Rob.
Maybe when this is all settled someday, we could tally up all the money Manfred cost the Dodgers by dragging his feet and we sue the bastard and MLB for every penny of it, plus damages.
In my dreams most likely.
Maybe the simple answer is that Bauer was effectively suspended last year as part of that administrative leave and wasn’t even a factor this year. The other guys’ struggles have been documented all year. We don’t talk about Bauer, either. I don’t think it’s by design.
Geez Bluto, apparently not!
?
Bluto,
no, apparently we can not avoid mentioning…
We can always hope.
Did anyone notice that when Machado struck out, Deiter played “Do the Hustle” as he walked back to the dugout. Just classic!
Deiter is hilarious. I love that guy! It’s very entertaining because it usually takes a little while to name that tune and when you do, you get a delayed reaction to the joke he was making. He’s an artist in every sense of the word.
Most excellent.
Yes that was pretty funny, even the announcers commented and got a chuckle.
This falls into the category of “Sour Grapes” and/or “Second Guessing,” but I think 2-Time GG Outfielder Joey Gallo would have had a better chance of catching that ball in LF yesterday. I also believe his cannon arm would have gotten the runner at the plate. The throw by Trayce was online but weak. Just my opinion…
That’s what I was thinking, too. That doesn’t mean that it’s not still preferable to have Trayce there for his bat, and it doesn’t mean Trayce is a bum defensively, it’s just that better outfield D could’ve made a difference.
Agreed. I have to admit I was stuck on the weak jump, and overlooked the throw to the plate. I much prefer Trayce hitting to Gallo but Gallo runs the field with skill. Hope both get many chances to shine this championship run. Either way, yesterday, 0-3 was still 0 for 3!
Wow! How spoiled is this fan base? Thompson is being criticized for a throw home that hit the runner? And critiquing and criticizing him for not catching a home run?
“You know if we had a left fielder who was as tall as Aaron Judge and had a 44 inch vertical, and had he jumped more efficiently farther from the fence and had a glove that was 5 inches longer and if he a better outfielder like Joey Gallo, we would have won by more!”
Tough crowd.
I didn’t read anyone criticize Trayce Thompson. Good grief, people!
Exactly! I was just mentioning my observations. I won’t say anything more about Manny who just took Clayton deep…..
We got the past-prime AJ. No hit and def no glove. ‘Clubhouse guy’. Suspect he’s decent enough on-air. Catchers do bring brains. David Ross anyone?
Rained down here this morning. Forecast looks ok for gametime. Last thing I want tonite is a rain delay. Cancellation would be a major headache for schedule.
Damn, I thought Pierzynski was in LA for a cuppa joe 10-20 years ago.
David Ross was who I was thinking of.
When will Trevor Plouffe lean in harder on the Dodgers when the east coast podcast guys are downing us? Come on big guy – show us your colors. Local guy to boot.
So I think CK plays one more year for us then retires. Its not like his kids are going to college next year and he missed their entire childhood. Of course no one knows the answer, probably not even him. So we can only hope.
Agree on Deiter! He played the theme to Hawaii 50 when the score went to 5-0. Classic!
OMG. I thought he was playing that because Betts’ number is 50.
Stupid.
You’re right Bluto! Double that interpretation!
Was anyone else yelling at the TV when Doc took Vesia out to let Graterol pitch to Machado?
I read on a stupid page that Yordan Álvarez’s home run is already being compared to Kirk Gibson’s as one of the greatest moments of the playoffs… Please don’t offend Gibson, the Dodgers and baseball with such stupidity!
Yeah, the big difference, Yordan wasn’t injured and the Astros aren’t severe underdogs and this isn’t the World Series, it the first round of the playoffs for them against a team no one thought was going to be there, much less get out of the Wild Card.
What a shameless joke.

Walker Buehler will throw out today’s ceremonial first pitch.
Julio Urias set a new record as the only pitcher in history to win 3 games in the playoffs as a starter and 3 as a reliever.
Didn’t Orel in 88?
Just one win as a reliever.
Uh oh looks like playoff kershaw showed up.
Might be time to go the BP. CK didn’t quite have overpowering stuff tonight tonight
Way too early take:
Manny Machado, Dodgers gave up on him too soon.
Trea Turner not a choker
Mookie Bust
This was and is a joke
So Trayce STILL thinks he is getting a fastball. Darvish has thrown him the same slider EVERY pitch.
Trayce and Belli looking totally overmatched
Mookie does not look good.
Kershaw 5 IP, and he is a bum because he gave up 3 runs.
Urias is a hero because he went 5 and gave up 2 runs.
What a silly take.
What is not silly is our Superstar has done nothing.
Didn’t Urias give up 3 runs?
Thank you!
😉
Didn’t Urias give up 3 runs?
Do you take out Kershaw that early?
And do you use Graterol one of the two pitchers in the bullpen that I said I was afraid of?
Yes Turner made that error but Graterol was hit hard. Bellinger saved his ass.
He gave up a bloop hit, a seeing eye soft ground ball single, an error by Turner on another soft ground ball, a bunt that he saved a run on and THEN the last out was hit hard.
Please watch the game .
Thumbs up!
It looked to me that the ground ball single was hit hard.
It wasn’t it was well placed. And they left 9 runners on base. Not all on the bullpen.. Ya gotta score when you get the chance, and they missed a bunch of them. Lux hitting into a DP when they could have tired the game was a killer along with JT striking out with the bases loaded and no outs.
I know I was going to talk about the offense when I got done with what I needed to do after the game.
And all runs in the playoffs are precious.
Takeaway the error and…
That excuse doesn’t work for me. A good pitcher would still get out of the inning without allowing a run. But that’s just me. I guess.
Definitely just you Eric. No error, and there is one man on instead of two. Graterol is a pretty good pitcher. He has some nasty stuff. But this is on the offense. Leave 9 men on base, no hits with a runner in scoring position, all the runs came on solo homers.
This commentators are the worse. So many shit talk and when Almonte strikeout both Soto& Machado went SILENT!
I can’t believe none of the pitchers used yesterday in the bullpen can’t go two days in a row especially with an off day tomorrow.
Picked a wrong time to have an off night.
We’ll have to beat either Snell or Musgrove to get it back to LA. Timely hitting would sure help.
Exactly. They can beat both of those guys, they have done it before. Snell lasted less than three innings in game one against the Mets.
Like you said Bear:”This is on the offense”. Let’s hope the next two aren’t.
I know it’s just Bellinger, but Barnes hitting for him, really? A home run there would have been nice and Bellinger hits home runs at a higher rate than Barnes.
I had more confidence in Barnes
How’s the confidence in Vargas?
I get why Roberts might prefer the veteran, but Vargas has been billed as a great pure hitter, and that’s one reason he made the roster (despite his weak stats).
So what is Vargas for?
Will he simply be a pinch runner?
The Dodgers have lost one game out of two.
They rest one day and play again.
We will see Vargas, but I wish they had played him more down the stretch.
I have no clue why that guy is even on the playoff roster. His chances of actually getting into a game depend on if it is a blowout. No way he gets an at bat in a critical situation. I would much rather see Alberto there for PH duties and infield defense.
