2021 Dodger Draft Preview

July 7, 2021

As every semi-lucid baseball fan knows, next week is the 91st MLB All Star game.  The results are close with the AL winning 45 games, NL winning 43 games with 2 ties.  The AL has runs scored 373 runs and the NL has scored 370 runs.  The AL is currently riding a 7 game winning streak. But that is not the only MLB event that is happening next week, and…

Get Over it!

June 9, 2021

To me, that applies to a whole lot more than baseball. Lot’s of people could apply this in their everyday lives… but I digress. Last year’s season was a sprint in 60 games and the Dodgers broke out of the gate and never looked back and at the end of 60 games they had 8 more wins than this team. Of course, they had about 25% of the injuries this…

Is Clayton Kershaw Declining?

June 6, 2021

Going into last night’s game, Clayton Kershaw had the highest ERA I can remember at this juncture. His ERA was 3.33 before the game and 3.66 after he gave up 5 ER. However, his WHIP sits at 1.01 which is barely above his career average of 1.00. He is now 33 years-old and has started 369 games and pitched 2,403 innings with 2,603 strikeouts. He has 77 strikeouts in about…

Now – Let’s Roll!

April 29, 2021

Clayton Kershaw did not have his best stuff yesterday, but it was good enough to throw 7 shutout innings. I think he could have pitched another inning, but why wear him out. He threw a very efficient 90 pitches and his ERA now sits at 2.09. Those of you who wanted to anoint Walker Buehler the Ace will have to wait a while. Dodgers Starting Pitcher ERA & WHIP: Clayton…

Snakebit!

April 28, 2021

If you all want to lose your minds… have at it! I will not participate in the insanity! This is simply a prolonged slump and everything the Dodgers do right about now is wrong! It has not happened for a couple of years, but it’s baseball where anything can (and will) happen. They somehow managed to score 5 runs on just 4 hits. Buehler struck out 10 and only walked one but gave up 5 runs. Go figure! They’re 2-7 in their last nine games and are 9-8 on the season against teams that aren’t the last-place Rockies.

…and the Beat Goes on!

April 23, 2021

Since last Friday, when the Dodgers beat the Padres 11-6, they have played five more games and scored one less run than they did in Friday’s game. When you average two runs a game, you are certain to have a sub .500 record and the Dodgers are 2-3 in those games. It’s a testament to their pitching that they have won any of those games. They won one game 2-0…

We are Closer to a Closer

April 10, 2021

Kenley is a proud man and if he loses the closers’ role, I could see him walking away… and the Dodgers agreeing to pay him to do that. You may or may not know this: But, when Andrew Luck walked away, Jim Irsay paid him $30 million that he was under no obligation to do so. This is just speculation and is way down the road, but it could happen.

It’s Time For Dodger Baseball! 2021 Style!

March 30, 2021

Kersh takes the mound for his 9th opening day assignment. Frankly, I wish he wasn’t the guy. Although he has a winning record at Coors at 11-5. His ERA there is 4.44. He has allowed 19 HR’s in 23 games. 139 hits, and 36 walks in 140 innings. Not great numbers. His WHIP at Coors is 1.250. The Rocks only hit .203 against him there, but they get the most out of their hits.

Just Sitting in the Outfield Sun… Wasting Time

March 23, 2021

Spring Training stats can be so deceiving: Last week Garrett Cleavinger was the flavor of the week, an almost certain lock to make the team. Sunday, maybe not so much. Last week, it appeared that Dennis Santana had pitched his way off the opening roster. Sunday, he sort of, kind of, maybe, redeemed himself. But then again, “it’s spring and the statistics don’t matter!”

The More Things Change the More They Stay the Same

March 13, 2021

LA DODGER TALK is not your normal Dodger blog site. Even Ray Charles can see that no other Dodger site has a Dodger historian like Michael Norris. Michael or “Bear” as we know him, is a National Dodger Treasure! What he lays down is not available anywhere else! Then we have 2Demeter2, who has committed to trying to write one blog a week wherein he will give his “opinion from…
