What Will FAZ Do???

April 16, 2018

This will be somewhat unusual for me, as generally I am an extremely unapologetic pro-FAZ supporter, and I still am.  But to critically examine any operation, personal biases need to be thrown out, even when it comes to the Dodgers.   Sports team owners do not get into the game for short term profits.  The big profits come when the team is sold.  For the Dodgers, the ownership group has…

First Week Observations

April 6, 2018

Some first week observations:  It is obvious that the Dodgers offense misses JT; the one clutch hitter in the lineup.  The only offense thus far is Yasmani Grandal.  Without any concrete evidence, it is my opinion that the Owings HR off of Jansen with two outs in the 9th on the Monday game against the DBacks had a negative impact on the Tuesday and Wednesday games.   The Dodgers have…

Hurry Up and Calm Down!

April 5, 2018

On April 18, 2017, the Dodgers had 8 wins and 10 losses. They simply were not hitting, but I think it ended up OK (except for the very last game).  As a matter of fact, on May 3rd of 2017, the Dodgers were just one game above .500.  Should the Dodgers make a plethora of moves now and get rid of hitters not hitting and pitchers not hitting?  That’s silly…

Dodgers Trade Kemp and Buehler for Ryan Braun

April 1, 2018

April Fools Day is Upon Us although some morons wrote that a day earlier.  Relax, it’s not happening! Braun would save the Dodgers  $4 or $5 million a year over Kemp, but with an additional year added.  I don’t see that as an upgrade and the fact of the matter is that a Happy Matt Kemp can be a real force on this team, and we have already seen that…

I’m Back… Just For a Day!

March 26, 2018

My oldest son and I got back from Haiti at Midnight.  It’s heartbreaking to see how the Haitins live, but we are trying to change that.  I’ll do a blog about it someday soon for those of you who are interested.  But, It’s Time For Dodger Baseball!  I recorded the game last night and “speed watched” it. I leave for Denver Tuesday AM and will be back on April Fools…

The Dilemma (?) of Dodger Relievers

March 24, 2018

Yesterday, e-6 and Hawkeye were commenting on the relief pitching (or maybe lack thereof) that seems to be coming to LA this upcoming week.  When I thought there were going to be only 7 relievers I listed Kenley, Alexander, Baez, Cingrani, Fields, Stripling, and Chargois as the 7.  Now that it is back to 8 (at least for right now), I agree with Ken Gurnick that Font will be #8….

Dodgers Opening Day Roster?

March 21, 2018

The Dodgers are now one week away from playing for real.  Kershaw vs Bumgarner to kick off the season.  While Kershaw has not been automatic in the playoffs, he is unbeatable in opening games.  The Dodgers have been 7-0 in Kershaw’s opening games, including 2 games against the Giants.  The Giants fans I know have been drooling especially since JT broke his wrist, and the Dodgers and Giants face off…

The Man Without a Position

March 15, 2018

On November 2, 2017, still reeling from a World Series loss, I wrote this: Kike Hernandez is looked at as a “super utilityman” because he can play anywhere… especially SS, but a lot of people are dismissive of his offense.  Me? I think there is a possibility that he could be a huge offensive force in the future. Quit laughing and listen to this: Through age 25, JD Martinez was…

El Gasolino: An Explosive Subject

March 11, 2018

I think it was DodgerRick who coined the moniker “El Gasolino” in reference to Pedro Baez.  He has also been called “The Human Rain Delay” because an infielder can make a sandwich and drink a beer between pitches.  I also call him “Dumb” because you can’t get major league hitters out with a fastball as your only pitch unless you can throw it 120 MPH! The offensive explosion caused by…

The Matt Kemp Experiment

March 4, 2018

An experiment is a procedure carried out to support, refute, or validate a hypothesis. Experiments provide insight into cause-and-effect by demonstrating what outcome occurs when a particular factor is manipulated. Make no mistake, the Dodgers are going to carry out the Matt Kemp Experiment… and it is truly an “EXPERIMENT.” We did  a few experiments in high school chemistry class, some of which caused violent explosions, but some were pretty…
