Time to Take Notice of this Guy

June 26, 2021

I had started a series of posts re: June is Busting Out All Over. June is still busting out but all of a sudden more difficult to follow. For whatever reason, the game logs and splits for minor league players are no longer available at MiLB.com . One day they were there, the next day gone. I have written to Jeff Lantz, Senior Director of Communications for Minor League Baseball,…

Getting No-Hit May be the Best Thing That has Happened to This Team

June 25, 2021

Being no-hit in baseball is humbling, humiliating, embarrassing, and in this case, it is a wake-up-call! Bear was right yesterday, these are not the 2020 Dodgers. This version is different from last year. Gone are the “all-or-nothing” bats of Kike and Joc who have been replaced by McKinstry and Lux. That has not been a problem. The problems is that the team has gotten poor production from Betts, Seager and…

These Are Not the 2020 Dodgers

June 24, 2021

Been watching with a lot of interest the comments of fans on all sorts of posts on social media. I have to personally believe that too many think this is last year’s team and that is not the case. Several key pieces from the Champs are now plying their trade elsewhere. Some key pieces of this team have not played enough to make an impact. How many thought back during…

It’s Never Clear… at least in the Beginning!

June 23, 2021

Kershaw was OK last night, and the bullpen did their job, but the hitters failed to deliver in the clutch. The Dodgers had 8 hits and 5 walks, compared to the Padres 4 hits and 3 walks. I guess this loss is on Doc, because if Austin Barnes had started, he might have won it with 4th HR. Instead Doc started that bum, Will Smith.

What Baseball Needs

June 22, 2021

What does this game we love really need? Interesting question. More action? More runs? Shorter games? MLB has tried numerous things to get all of these in play. And in reality, I believe some of all of these would be a good thing. I also think the game could use a few more personalities.. Players who are just a little bit out there. I would have loved to have a…

We Will Never Forget These Two: DBM & MJ

June 20, 2021

Over the past couple of years, the world has experienced a pandemic and many other tragedies. The “Circle of Life” includes death and while we do not have to like it, it is best that we accept it, lest it controls our life. A car has a big windshield and a very small rear-view mirror. You should drive your car by watching through the windshield, but occasionally, you have to…

For Love of The Game

June 19, 2021

Excuse me for borrowing the title of one of my favorite baseball movies, but it is a perfect title for this post. Baseball is at a crossroads in my humble opinion. For years, I was a traditionalist. Still prefer the old-style NL game. But it this day and age, that kind of baseball has become very boring for the most part… at least to younger fans. And that is where…

Rant & Rave Friday

June 18, 2021

Who will go down next? That seems to be a broken record for this season. Hopefully, everyone gets healthy for the stretch run. Tonight, Trevor Bauer goes against the D-Bags in AZ. The Dodgers are 3rd in team ERA… within .06 of the Padres and .10 of the Mets. They are still #2 in starter ERA behind the Mets, but deGrom keeps breaking down (he’s older than Clayton) and it…

June is Busting Out All Over

June 17, 2021

It was great to have AC’s minor league article on Tuesday. When he produces a column it is like MLB. That is,  Minor League Buffett. So much to digest. In his smorgasbord he did mention some young players I have been following. Today I am going to just highlight a few hitters who seem to be busting out in June after  a bit of a slow May. Today it is…
