Looking to 2019 – Part 2

November 5, 2018

Yesterday I looked at what might the team be looking at/for in 2019 with pitching (starting and relief) and catchers.  Today I am looking at the infielders and outfielders. Infielders:  Much of this will be determined by how Corey Seager rehabs.  Will he be able to play SS as well as he did his first two years? Many do not believe that he will be able to, but much of…

WELCOME TO THE FALL CLASSIC 2018!! Tough To Watch

October 13, 2018

In a game where the two best hitters struck out 7 out of 10 plate appearances, this was a very hard game to watch much less write about.  Unfortunately for the good guys, JT’s strikeouts were much more problematic than Christian Yelich’s.  The Blue put up a good fight late, but Game 1 goes to Craig Counsell in his chess match against Dave Roberts.  It appears that Counsell played Roberts…

And Then There Were Four

October 11, 2018

With the Yankees being TKO’ed by the Red Sox, the slate is set.  The Red Sox play the Astros while the Dodgers play the Brewers.  Many Dodger fans didn’t think the Dodgers would be one of the last four teams standing…. but here they are!  Think about this: The Dodgers are one of the TOP FOUR TEAMS IN BASEBALL! I think that the Dodgers will be one of the last…

Projected 2018 Dodgers NLDS Roster

October 2, 2018

Now that the regular season is through, we can begin to speculate as to what will make up the NLDS roster.  It really shouldn’t be that difficult for 23 of the 25 players, but those last two will surely draw some scrutiny. IMO the givens:   Starting Pitching (4): Clayton Kershaw Hyun-jin Ryu Walker Buehler Rich Hill   Bullpen (8): Kenley Jansen Kenta Maeda Alex Wood Pedro Baez Scott Alexander…

Fan Appreciation Day

September 24, 2018

Yesterday’s game was fun and to be appreciated.  What a fan appreciation day!!!  The Dodgers score 14 and collect 16 hits.  Ryu pitched AND hit superbly.  He allows 4 hits and collects 8 strikeouts, and ZERO walks, and gets THREE hits.  Josh Fields and Julio Urias come in and shutdown the Padres for the final three innings.  It is hard to get too excited about shutting down the Padres, but…

Rant and Rave Wedenesday

September 5, 2018

Last night had a happy ending, but it looked bad for a while as Rich Hill gave up 4 runs in the first three innings.  He threw 103 pitches. 75 of which were strikes, and his curveball was amazing.  It really was a good outing and the two HR were (in my opinion) just one of those things. Hill pitched a strong 6 innings and kept the Dodgers in the…

Roster Expansion

August 28, 2018

So, who is coming to help on Saturday when rosters CAN expand?  The current 40 man is filled with players on the DL.  How many of those are legit, who knows?  Well I guess FAZ does.  Another consideration might be how many of the Rule 5 eligible draftees do the Dodgers want to take a look at in September.   Current Dodger relievers on the 40 man:   Julio Urias…

The End is Near, Because the Pen is Here

August 20, 2018

Most of you probably don’t believe it, because the Dodger bullpen has been awful many times during this season, but it went from awful to deplorable when Daniel Hudson, Ross Stripling and Kenley Jansen went down.  Of course, Kenley was the biggest loss and there’s no way to replace him. That will likely come to an end tonight as if Kenley is approved by his Doctors to play again.  In…

Logjam in the Outfield

August 18, 2018

Friday night’s game was nice, but it’s just one game.  The starter did his job, the bullpen did theirs (it’s a lot easier when it’s not close) and the hitters certainly did theirs. Kemp and Machado are coming out of their slumps and the Dodgers are still two games back of the D-Bags. These guys now need to build some consistency (which is breed with confidence) and start a winning…
