A Win for the Ages

September 30, 2021

Every Dodger fan knows that when you score more than four runs for Max Scherzer his record is something like 103 -2. Well, last night was a strange one, because the Dodgers scored five early runs for Max and he promptly gave them all back, plus one. Actually, the defense gave him plenty of help in giving back runs. But while the Padres were busy dancing and smiling when they…

Max Scherzer and Sweep of the Padres

September 13, 2021

A couple of observations for the weekend series sweep of the Pads.  The starting pitching was obscene.  Urias 7.0 IP – 0 runs, Buehler 7.0 IP – 2 runs, Scherzer 8.0 IP – 0 runs.  In 22.0 IP the Padres scraped together 10 hits and 3 walks against the three starters.  Two shutouts for the weekend.  The Padres were never ahead for the entire weekend.  Outside of Blake Treinen’s outing…

Time is Running Out

September 10, 2021

Well, it is now early September. Dodgers 2 games back with 22 to play, and none of them with the Giants. So, what do they need to do? First off, they need to take care of their own business and not get too involved in scoreboard watching. Some players now have a short time to get back on track and play like they were earlier in the season. Smith and…

Gavin, Belli, Doc, and Andrew

August 20, 2021

That is not the law firm defending Trevor Bauer, but it is the four most scrutinized members of the LAD organization.  I started to respond to Mark’s post from yesterday, but I got called away for errands. It then got too long for a response, so I decided to make it my own post. I am writing this before Game 1 with NYM, so this could all go to H***…

Max Scherzer – Yea or Nay?

July 29, 2021

Before I answer with my position, let me do my best to lay out some of the factors assuredly being discussed in the Dodger “war rooms”. Max Scherzer is a HOF pitcher who can still bring it at 37.  He would be a front of the rotation pitcher even with the Dodgers.  This year he is 7-4 with a 2.83 ERA and an exceptional WHIP of 0.886 in 105 IP. …

L. A. Dodger Trades The Good and the Bad.

July 28, 2021

Since the deadline is just a few days away, I thought it might be fun to look back on some of the trades the Dodgers have made over the years. Some were significant in helping the team win, others, well they just were not all that good or popular. Winter: 1958 On the 4th of December, the Dodgers sent Gino Cimoli to the Cardinals for OF Wally Moon and P…

Now it’s a Sprint!

July 13, 2021

In 2020, the Dodgers played just 60 regular-season games. As of right now, the Dodgers have played 91 games, so if you struggle with math (5 out of 4 people do), that means there are 71 games left. That means the Dodgers can almost treat this like 2020, henceforth! The season is not now so long and they can “sprint” to the finish line. But will they? I think they…

These Are Not the 2020 Dodgers

June 24, 2021

Been watching with a lot of interest the comments of fans on all sorts of posts on social media. I have to personally believe that too many think this is last year’s team and that is not the case. Several key pieces from the Champs are now plying their trade elsewhere. Some key pieces of this team have not played enough to make an impact. How many thought back during…

Catching Duos

April 12, 2021

While thinking of subjects to post about, I was watching the game and marveling at how well our two catchers are playing right now. Even though he went hitless in the opener, Will Smith directly impacted the win with two great throws to nail runners trying to steal. Austin Barnes is an equally adept defender and has also been contributing on offense to start the season. And who is in…

Dog Daze

March 24, 2021

With eight more days left in Spring Training, all thirteen (13) of the position players are set (barring injury). There is nothing left to decide. Here’s the list: Will Smith Max Muncy Gavin Lux Corey Seager Justin Turner AJ Pollock Cody Bellinger Mookie Betts Chris Taylor Austin Barnes Edwin Rios Zach McKinstry Matt Beaty Noisy and Peters may be back in the heat of summer when a fan (I mean…
