This was a forgettable game. The Comets committed more errors (2) than hits (1). LHSP Cole Irvin and RHRP Jonathan Hernández were tattooed for 10 runs, 11 hits, and 5 BB, in 5.0 IP.
RHRP Ben Casparius was making his initial rehab assignment. He entered in the 7th and struck out the first batter he faced. He walked the next, and then a RBI double. After a 2nd out, he walked a batter, and RHRP Jerming Rosario was summoned to get out of the inning. Casparius threw 24 pitches.

Tulsa Drillers 5 – Arkansas Travelers (Seattle) 3
RHSP Christian Zazueta pitched well for four innings. He allowed a solo HR in the 4th. In his 4.0 IP, he allowed just the run, 2 hits, 1 BB, and 7 K.

Tulsa tied it up in the 6th. When LF Josue De Paula tripled (2) and scored on DH Mike Sirota’s single.
Tulsa took the lead in the 8th. CF Kendall George singled, JDP walked, and with 2 out, the runners pulled off a double steal, and RF Kole Myers was IBB to load the bases. 3B Taylor Young walked to bring home the tie breaking run.
Tulsa stretched the lead in the 9th. SS Jose Izarra led off with a single. With 1 out, he stole 2nd and continued to 3rd on the throwing error. George singled to score Izarra. George stole 2nd and went to 3rd on the 2nd catcher throwing error. With 2 out, Sirota walked and stole 2nd. Both George and Sirota scored on 1B Jake Gelof’s 2-run single.

RHRP Antonio Knowles came in to close it out in the 9th. He allowed 2 runs in the 9th on 3 BB, a HBP and was relieved by LHRP Christian Suarez. Suarez struck out the first batter he faced, but the batter reached 1st on a WP. He got the last out for the save.

Lansing Lugnuts (A’s) 8 – Great Lakes Loons 5
RHSP Brady Smith made his Great Lakes debut. It did not go as well as he hoped.
CF Charles Davalan led off the game with his 15th HR.

In the bottom of the 1st, Smith issued a BB to the leadoff hitter and struck out the next batter. That is where it went wrong. A single, BB, 2 run double, and SF scored 3 for the Lugnuts.
In the top of the 2nd, DH Cameron Decker hit a 1-out single. With 2 outs, 3 consecutive BB to C Victor Rodrigues, 1B Chase Adkison, and Davalan brought home a run.
In the bottom of the 2nd, Smith allowed three straight singles, a BB, a SF, and a run scoring single for a 6-2 lead.
Smith gave up a solo HR in the 4th. His line was 4.0 IP, 7 runs (all earned), 8 hits, 3 BB, and 4K.
In the 5th, Davalan stroked a 1-out single, and 2B Nico Perez walked. With 2 outs, RF Jose Meza hit a RBI single.
With Seamus Barrett on the hill in the 5th, Lansing got the run back on a single and a 2-out triple.
In the 7th, Adkison doubled (3), and with 1-out Perez tripled (4). Perez scored on a groundout to complete the scoring.

Things were looking good when Ontario started in the 1st. CF Jaron Elkins singled and moved to 2nd on 2B Kellon Lindsey’s sac bunt. Elkins to 3rd on SS Aidan West single. Elkins scored on the RBI single from 1B Easton Shelton.

San Jose took over from there.
RHSP Luis Carias pitched a scoreless 1st 3.0 innings, but with traffic. In the 4th with two outs a batter reached on an error, and that was followed by a 2-run HR.
In the 5th, Carias walked a batter with 1 out. The runner stole 2nd and continued to 3rd on a WP. He issued another BB and then a sac fly. When he walked his third batter in the inning, he was relieved by RHRP Angel Cruz who got the final out.

Ontario moved to within 1 run in the 8th. With one out, Lindsey singled and moved to 3rd on a single by West. Lindsey scored on a WP.
RHRP Luis Gamez entered in the 6th. This was his first game with Ontario since the end of the ACL season. He pitched 2.0 scoreless innings, but it was his third inning where he ran into trouble. Gamez issued 2 BB, and with one out, gave up a bases loading single. That was followed by a grand slam HR. He allowed a single, HBP, and RBI single before getting the final out.

Ontario’s 1B Mairo Martinus and C Conner O’Neal led off with singles in the 9th. Martinus moved to 3rd on a GIDP and scored when Elkins tripled (6).

It would have been nice to hold on to the lead, and end up with another W, but a 6 and 3 east coast road trip is still pretty impressive.

Bullpen sucks today, Ohtani does not look good at the plate. Team is probably anxious to go home. Still will be up by double figures in the division race. Arizona is losing, SD winning, both games in the 9th.
Nice start from Sheehan, with 54 strikes in 87 pitches, and 5 Ks over 5 innings. And then Roberts pulls him in favor of Dreyer... This is a pet peeve of mine: A starter is removed even though he seems to be rolling, and should have more in the tank. I'd rather see a hot starter finish 6 innings and get backed up by 3 relievers, than pitch 5 and be backed by 4--because there's a good chance one of those four won't be a sharp as the guy who started the game. Why lean on the bullpen when the starter is rolling? As I write this, I just learned that Dreyer allowed two baserunners and then a homer to Tyrone Taylor, giving the Mets a 4-3 lead. Looks like Dreyer is the RP who wasn't sharp.... Oh well.
The Yankees and Brewers are both interested in CJ Abrams. Who wudda thought…..?

Nice win last night. It must be nice to be as good as Yamamoto . He didn’t have close to his best stuff and still finds a way to get it done. Mets score 2 in the 8th and guess how they got on. You guessed it, a hit by pitch and a walk. It drives me up a wall to do that with a lead. Apparently Henriquez has climbed up Doc’s trust ladder. I’m glad for Doc but I don’t share that optimism. I love the kid’s stuff and think he profiles as a top reliever. But there’s too much Joe Kelly in his game for me right now. I never know which guy we’ll get. Good mound visit by Rushing after which Henriquez when from Sayonora to Cy Young. Too bad Scott let his HBP and walk score. So don't do that. Brock Stewart just came out and put it where the sun don’t shine for the Mets in the 9th. Nice closing. Sweep today.

Does anyone understand Boston’s trades over the last few years? I guess being in the Al east makes them do crazy stuff at times. With Tampa always being relevant, the Yankees being, well, the Yankees,the blue jays are usually good, the orioles while competitive, are usually looking up at everybody else. Look for the Rays to go hard after Skubal. Look for the Yankees to get a big bat somewhere, but they still need Judge in that lineup. Their pitching is as good as it gets if healthy! Toronto has become a seller. Could the Dodgers possibly have any interest in Gausman? The orioles? Another wasted year, although they have been playing better lately. The rest of the American League is mediocre at best. The White Sox are the biggest surprise in baseball. Cleveland, while competitive, doesn’t have the offense to get to the World Series. Detroit? What the heck do they do? Sell? Buy? Seems like they’re screwed either way. Texas could be dangerous if their pitching is healthy. Aaaasssstros? Alvarez and that’s it! Just a shame isn’t it? Angels? Nothing to say here, other than Trout doesn’t seem to mind losing after all. Minnesota? Buxton and Ryan top names on the Craigslist in Minneapolis! Oakland? A bit of a disappointment. Young talent. NO PITCHING. Seattle? Probably needs a new manager. It looks like a healthy yankee squad should win the American League. Aaron Boone could stop that from happening if he tries hard enough! The National League of course goes through LA. Atlanta is dangerous. Phillies have 3 top shelf starters, but need some more offense. Miami is cooked after a nice start. Alcantara is probably gone next few days. Nationals? Lots of interesting options there. Abrams anyone? Mets are a train wreck! Seen Clay Holmes name in dodger rumors. Brewers? If they land Skubal, lookout! Biggest question there? Will Miseroski be healthy for the playoffs. Cubs? Dangerous! PCA is trying hard to push Ohtani for MVP. Pirates? Hanging in there, but without the real Paul Skeenes, probably fade down the stretch. Cardinals? A nice surprise, but a little lacking on offense and defense. And the West? I’m eating crow here. Padres are done. Giants are much worse than I could ever imagine. Rockies could make the Yankees much better this year if they trade Goodman to the Yankees. Dbacks? Hate playing them. They seem to play like monsters when they play against the Dodgers. Or maybe the Dodgers play like goblins when they play the Dbacks. Either way they have a hard road to travel to get in the playoffs. Bottom line? The Dodgers are the favorites for a reason. I don’t believe that they will be silent at the deadline. Finish up the road trip today with a win. 7-2 trip? Nice, though Peralta is auditioning for a new home now. He couldn’t be on the Dodgers radar, could he?

I know it seems to be a done deal that Freeland goes when Kike returns, but maybe a trip to IL for Ohtani would be helpful for him
