The Braves are Better Than the dodgers... at least right now!

Eh, no one had us beating the Phillies last year.

We were 0-7 vs the Brewers last year.

What happens now has very little on the impact in October.

When Sasaki goes on a rehab assignment after his blister heals,it should be as a high leverage reliever or a closer to get him ready for the playoffs. He will NOT be needed as a starter the remainder of 2026.

Well, for me, the thing I’m most upset about the Dodgers this year is that never shared their secret about the Dodger Way. If so I could have started a couple of insurance companies and lent myself a bunch of money to buy all kinds of stuff. I always wanted to own an F 1 team!

The Brewers. The Braves. Maybe the Cubs too. Heck, maybe the Phillies.... With Sasaki heading to the IL, I hope Gavin Stone gets called up. He's been waiting and working a long time. And it seems like Treinen might be ready to rejoin the pen. Getting Smith back should help the offense. But with the OF, I think we're just waiting for Pages to heal. If Tucker and Teo stay healthy but continue to underwhelm, I think we're just stuck with them. It's a shame because Tibbs has more than earned a promotion. These fat contracts limit flexibility. Tibbs is sort of like the new Ryan Ward--but the old Ryan Ward might be an upgrade too.

Another worthless effort by the offense. I wish the baseball gods would the have told me the game was going to be over in the first inning. Yamamoto and the pen were really good. This has been a strange month. Either we sweep or get swept. I guess the high point was they didn't have to waste a reliever in the ninth. On to Detroit.

It’s not September yet so it’s true there is time for this club to get its mojo back.

Will they? At the end of August we are still waiting for this team to be at full strength. It’s been a long wait.

Teo and Tucker. Pages? Yeah, maybe. Is Shohei focused on pitching at the present time? Skubal, Snell, Glasnow and Shohei sounds impressive. Is there a closer on this staff?

It still feels like they will cruise to a Division title. It’s doubtful SD or Arizona will put together a run to catch them. The Dodgers do play some sub .500 clubs coming up and we know they can beat them so the lead should be safe.

As with most things in life, it’s how you finish. And that includes every day. Next pitch. On offense and on defense. Always. Next pitch.

If Pages can heal before the post season starts I would not be surprised at all to see a platoon of Keekay and Alek Thomas in LF with very little playing time for Teo. Both are better defensively and perhaps will put the ball in play with more frequency than Teo and his pitiful half-hearted swings on a breaking ball in the LH batter box. Thomas can steal a base or put down a sac bunt. If there is no improvement and Teo doesn’t get “hot” I would argue Thomas just might be more valuable in the post season than Teo.

I was at last nights game and the botched fly ball by Teo was right in front of me. A major league outfielder has to make that catch.

You can blame Teo and Scott all you want, but this loss was on the offense once again. They had 10 hits, 7 walks and were 4-14 with RISP! Pitiful. Their four extra base hits went to waste. They left 11 runners on base. Scott got the first two hitters in the 9th, Thomas's double off of him was a flare down the RF line. So, they walk Riley and Kim, who was probably due, gets a hit after a few foul balls finally hit one. As bad as that might have been, Lauer giving up a homer to a guy hitting about .140 at the time was just as damaging.

But the possibility remains—though no longer as favorites. They have the same chance as any of the other teams heading to the playoffs; the advantage is gone, and they are no longer favorites or superior to several other teams. Yet, there is still hope—only this time, it is the same hope shared by the other teams.

OVERMATCHED! For those of you waiting for the Dodger offense to turn on some type of switch, the next switch you will hear will be in December, when the owners turn off the lights on the first half of the 27 season

I thought about writing here that the game was effectively over after just one pitch, but more than a few people would have gotten angry—even though we all know it’s true. This team just doesn't have anything left; there’s no sign of how or where it might improve. This team is finished; it’s dead. The dream is over.

This loss was a bitter pill. When you can’t win a game where you get 10 hits and 7 walks, you have issues. * Gawd Roki, make some attempt to hold a runner at 1st. Every error, every walk, every single is a double. He never even looks. At least make the runner freeze and not get a running start. * I’ve had it with Teo. Of course the ruling is a 2 run double in the 4th. Orel described it as NOT routine. I beg to differ. Whether Teo touched it or not is relevant for a Little Leaguer, not a Major League outfielder. That ball just has to be caught. * It seems Dodger fans are always waiting for something. It starts out waiting for Spring Training. Then waiting for Spring Training to end. Then waiting for which pitchers get injuries. Then we spend the season waiting for the broken players to come back from injuries. We spend the regular season waiting for September and October, when the “real” games start. We keep waiting for our “star” players to break out of slumps. We wait on Mookie to break out of his season long “Two- Forty Gordy” pop up act. We wait after too many first inning deficits to come back. And now we wait for somebody who can close a game. We constantly wait for our hitting to show some consistency. Our hitters are so streaky. * What happened to a knock a night? * Scott will keep his job by default. It’s the Dodger Way, but it really shouldn’t have come to that with better play for the first 8 innings.

Thomas needs to go. Edmonds Kike can fill in cf or even Kim is better than Thomas. Teo should go on the il for ten days and see if he can get some energy. In the playoffs we need four starters we have that covered really well. The reinforcements the bullpen will get should solidify the bullpen. The Dodgers will go in with the best starting rotation and bullpen of any team in the playoffs. Glasnow, Wrobo, Lauer on the left side and Sheehan, Glasnow and Saski on the right side will improve the pen substantially. Sometimes a person can’t see the forest because of the trees. The goal is a world championship. Th September schedule has LA home for 15 games and 12 on the road. The schedule favors LA even without the huge lead. Our goal should be getting through September healthy and rested. Need to keep the focus on the prize.

Will Smith to Return September 1st.

There are a lot of players' availability for the playoffs up in the air right now. It seems that's been the case all season.

How effective will Smith be on his return? His clutch bat is definitely needed right now. It's important that Pages be ready and productive for the playoffs. The Dodgers need to get their act together offensively or it's going to be a rough road for a repeat.

I agree that if Teo can't get his at bats to be more productive then a platoon of Kiki and Thomas should be in order. I can't believe they wouldn't produce more offensively and are both excellent on defense. A Call platoon with Tucker, especially at home, could add some punch to the lineup.

The poor showing against plus .500 teams has been troubling. Beating up on the weaker teams recently has not brought on the needed confidence that the team was hoping to see. Leaving so many RISP has been frustrating for the team and fans. I'm sure the stats won't show it, but it seems like that has been an issue for the Dodgers all season. Like last night. Extra base hits with no one on. Then scoring nothing three times with the bases loaded. So often, left with dismal results when opportunities are there to regain a lead or break a game open.

It would appear the split finger split Sasaki’s finger. He’s had this happen before. There has to be a solution to this.

Here’s one: 2-Octyl cyanoacrylate. It’s a medical-grade liquid tissue adhesive used as a flexible, waterproof alternative to traditional stitches and staples for closing skin wounds. Kinda like Super Glue, which is another possible solution.

Here’s another: stop grabbing the ball between the fingers on every set up. You can figure a way to disguise the grip. Try wiggling the glove during the stretch, looking like you’re changing the grip.

Here’s another one: rub some dirt on it and get back in there.

One more thing: that was clearly an error on Teo allowing two unearned runs to score. The team should have had a two run lead in the bottom of the 9th. I’m proposing a new rule: Designated Fielder. Here’s another one, the NFL has an offensive unit and a defensive unit. Baseball could adopt that format.

Scott has been great this year.
