MiLB Game Summary Report

Tacoma Rainiers (Seattle) 3 – OKC Comets 2

LHSP Cole Irvin started for OKC.  He allowed a HR in the 1st, and a another in the 4th.  Overall, Irvin pitched well enough to win in the PCL.  Just the two runs on 5 hits and 3 BB.  He did strike out one.  But he left trailing 2-0 after 6.0 IP.

LHRP Ronan Kopp pitched a scoreless 7th inning, issuing 1 BB.

The Comets got one back in the 7th and a pair of doubles from LF Jack Suwinski (6) and DH Eliézer Alfonzo (3).

RHRP Paul Gervase entered in the 8th and surrendered a HR.

Eliézer Alfonzo hit his first HR in the 9th to pull within 1.  SS Noah Miller followed with a single, but he was left there to end the game. 

Alfonzo was the only OKC hitter with 2 hits.

Frisco RoughRiders (Texas) 6 – Tulsa Drillers 5 – 5 innings

Tulsa put up 4 in the 1st inning.  CF Kendall George singled.  He stole 2nd, and 3rd, and came home on the catcher throwing error.  DH Josue De Paula walked and stole 2.  SS Elijah Hainline also drew a BB. De Paula and Hainline pulled off a double steal.  C Griffin Lockwood-Powell hit a 3-run HR (2) for the 4-0 lead.

With LHSP Wyatt Crowell on the mound, the lead did not last long.  3 BB, 1 HBP, catchers interference, and 2 singles, and the RoughRiders put up 6.

The Drillers got one back in the 5th.  De Paula led off with a single and stole 2B.  He moved to 3rd on a groundball and scored on a GLP single. 

On the pitching side, RHRP Nick Robertson bailed Crowell in the first, and then threw 3.0 additional scoreless innings.  He allowed a single, did not walk anyone, and registered a pair of K.

RHRP Christian Ruebeck pitched a scoreless 5th before the rain came. 

Tulsa had 9 hits to Frisco’s 3.

Great Lakes Loons 13 – Beloit Sky Carp (Miami) 9

RHSP Logan Tabeling surrendered a 3-run HR in the first inning.  Tabeling proceeds to pitch the next 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing a single and 2 walks.  LHRP Cody Morse got the final out in the 5th.

GL started their come back in the 2nd.  With one out, LF Jose Meza, 1B Cameron Decker, and C Jesus Galiz drew a BB.  DH Samuel Munoz and SS Jose Izarra each hit run scoring singles to pull to within 1.

In the 3rd, 2B Nico Perez led off with a double.  RF Eduardo Quintero singled Perez home to tie the score.  Decker and Galiz each drew a BB to load the bases.  During the BB, Quintero stole 2 bases.  Munoz hit a 2 run single and a 5-3 lead.

In the 4th, three Loons again drew consecutive BB to load the bases. 3B Logan Wagner singled home two runners.  With 2 runners on, Meza and Galiz both drew BB to force a run in.  GL now leading 8-3.

The score stood until the 7thRHRP Reynaldo Yean entered and faced five batters.  A single followed by 4 BB and Yean was pulled.  RHRP Dilen Figueredo relieved Yean and inherited the bases loaded.  Figueredo gave up a 2-run double and 2-run single before settling down to retire the side.

Now trailing 9-8, Quintero led off the 8th with a ground rule double (1).  After Meza walked and Galiz doubled home both runners, giving GL the lead.

In the 9th Quintero hit a 3-run HR.

Figueredo and LHRP Justin Chambers got the final 6 outs, 4 by K.

The Loons got 14 BB with Meza, Decker, and Galiz each walking 3 times.

I do not know if it is a sign of coming out of his season long slump, but Eduardo Quintero had 3-5 night with a BB, scored 4 runs, and knocked in 4.  Munoz and Izarra both had a pair of singles.

Ontario Tower Buzzers 7 – San Jose Giants 4

Ontario jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the 1stCF Jaron Elkins singled.  That was followed with back to back walks to DH Emil Morales and 3B Chase Harlan. RF Ching-Hsien Ko singled home 2.

LF AJ Soldra hit a leadoff HR in the 2nd for a 3-0 lead.

RHSP Mason Estrada had a rough 2nd.  He allowed a leadoff double, an infield single and throwing error brought the run home.  A BB, WP, and 2 balks brought home two additional runs. 

AJ Soldra hit his 2nd HR (3) of the game giving Ontario a 4-3 lead.  

Giants threatened in the 8th with RHRP Ricardo Montero on the hill.  He walked the first two hitters in the inning.  That brought RHRP Robby Porco in relief.  He retired the first batter on a sac bunt.  Next hitter got a 5-3 ground out.  He hit the next batter to load the bases, and then struck out the next batter to end the threat.

Ontario put up 3 in the 9th to open up a 4-run lead.  With one out, C Conner O’Neal drew a BB and Soldra tripled (4) him home.  Soldra scored on a 2 out WP.  Back to back doubles by Jaron Elkins (3) and Emil Morales (9) plated the 3rd run of the inning.

Porco allowed a leadoff triple in the 9th who later scored on a sac fly.
