Kirby Yates is a closer for second-tier teams.
Do not put him in that situation again.
That’s all I have to say about it! ^#@$&!

Happy Easter everyone!!! Enjoy the day!!!! Lots to look forward to in the coming weeks and months.
Cheers. Yesterday’s loss bothered me so much I had to drink the other five bottles that came with my single beer.
Well, he had looked a lot better the day before and Scott was not available, so they did not have much choice. Yates is a quality reliever and has plenty of nasty pitches. You have to close against good teams too even when you are playing on a second-tier team. Jansen got his 452nd save for the Angels over the Giants the other day. This loss is on the offense as much as Yates. Ya do not win many games scoring just 3 runs, all in one inning. And the dreaded K monster showed up again, 10 more strikeouts by this vaunted offense.
Roberts overmanaged again. He should’ve let Phillips pitch a full inning then give Vesia the ninth. Easy for me to say but I didn’t like when I saw Yates warming up. He’s going to wear these guys out.

An update on Kopech from the Dodger’s Official Page:
RHP Michael Kopech
Injury: Right shoulder impingement
IL date: March 18 (15-day IL)
Expected return: May
Status: Threw a bullpen session on April 15, his second since pausing his buildup; feeling good as he resumes ramping up on the mound. (updated April 15)
We’re going need him sooner than later with weak relievers,Garcia and Dvis in the pen now and Treinen headed for an MRI which doesn’t sound good.
We can always use good relievers. No reason is needed. However, with Gonsolin, Kershaw, Snell & Ohtani eventually coming back, I think the pitching will get gradually stronger.
Shohei activated, Eddie Rosario DFAd. Looks like he is gone.
Just checked, the 40 man roster now stands at 39 with the DFA of Rosario. A future move can be made.
Rosario was a one trick pony in a sport that doesn’t need that trick anymore.
How about Glasnow shows up today and win a game for us and avoid the homerun ball? Right now I trust May more in the playoffs than Glasnow.

Texas has put together a decent rotation. Eovaldi is really turned himself into a helluva pitcher.
When did Ohtani stop wearing his arm/elbow guard?
Glass-now!
Poor taste, Georgie
Josh Smith is going to win some batting titles.
I would have loved much more to see it be the tranny Tatiana or the Martian-eared guy who got hurt, but okay, I’ll take it!
Death to All Things Padre
No bats this series but still took 2 of 3 on the road from a good team. I would have let Vesia pitch to the lefty before bringing Yates in yesterday.
Texas Rangers finished out of the money in 2024 due to injuries but they were the 2023 World Champions so hardly a “second-tier team”.
Kirby Yates stats as the Rangers closer in 2024:
Saves: 33 (7th in MLB)
ERA: 1.17
WHIP: 0.83
Record: 7–2
Games: 61
Evan Phillips stats with the Dodgers in 2024:
2024 Season:
Saves: 18
ERA: 3.62
WHIP: 1.19
Games: 61
Yates gave up a couple hits yesterday but nothing to be up in arms about. He’ll be fine barring injury.
Good point.
Signing Yates seemed like overkill to me, but I’m glad he’s on the team.
