OKC Comets 10 – Round Rock Express (Texas) 3
LHSP Blake Snell on his 1st rehab start at OKC and 3rd overall. He was scheduled to go 4.0 innings and approximately 60 pitches. Mission accomplished with 4.0 IP and 55 pitches (37 strikes).
Snell allowed 2 hits, a 1st inning leadoff single, and a 1-out 100 MPH – 372 foot 2-run HR. He “settled” down and retired the next 9 hitters, issued a walk, then erased him on a DP to end his game.
Snell left trailing 2-1. OKC scored a run in the 3rd. CF Mike Siani led off with a BB. 3B Ryan Fitzgerald followed with a single. DH Ryan Ward had a 1-out RBI single.
The score stayed 2-1 until the 6th inning when OKC exploded for 7 runs. 1B James Tibbs III led off with a single. RF Jack Suwinski kept his HR swing up with a 2-run HR (8). LF Zach Ehrhard walked, 2B Austin Gauthier singled, and C Eliézer Alfonzo singled to score Ehrhard. Gauthier moved to 3B and Alfonzo to 2B on an E2. Fitzgerald hit a 1-out 2-run single. SS Noah Miller walked, followed by a RBI single for Ward. Miller went to 3B and Ward to 2B on an E6. The inning ended with OKC leading 8-2.
RHRP Griff McGarry followed Snell and struck out 3 of the 4 batters he faced. RHRP Brock Stewart followed and struck out the first batter he faced. However he walked the next batter and allowed a soft hit (70.3 MPH) into RF for a single. RHRP Christian Romero came in to get the final out in the 6th.
Romero finished the game allowing a run on a double and single in the 8th. 3.1 IP, 3 hits, 1 run, 0 BB, 4 K.
OKC put up 2 more insurance runs in the 9th. Alfonzo drew a 1 out BB followed by a Siani double (5) putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. Fitzgerald singled to score Alfonzo and moving Siani to 3B. Miller hit a SF to score Siani.
- Ryan Fizgerald – 4-6, 1 run, 3 RBI
- Ryan Ward – 2-5, 1 BB, 3 RBI
- Mike Siani – 2-4, 1 BB, 2 runs, double (5)
- Jack Suwinski – 1-3, 1 run, 2 RBI, HR (8)
San Antonio Missions (Padres) 8 – Tulsa Drillers 7
The Missions jumped out to a 6-1 lead after 4. LHSP Adam Serwinowski continued his struggles allowing 6 runs on 6 hits, 2 BB, and 3 K in 3.0 IP. RHRP Joel Ibarra entered in the 4th. He got one out, but then surrendered 2 BB and a 3-run HR.
The Drillers looked to get back in the game in the 3rd. C Griffin Lockwood-Powell and 1B Joe Vetrano led off with walks. 2B Sean McLain followed by HBP to load the bases with nobody out. CF Kendall George hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring GLP and Vetrano moved to 3rd. George stole 2B (16) and RF Josue De Paula walked to load the bases with one out. The threat with just one run when 3B Kyle Nevin and DH Zyhir Hope both struck out.
In the 6th inning, LHRP Maddux Bruns walked 4 allowing a run.
Tulsa put up 3 in the bottom of the 6th. 3B Kyle Nevin (4) and SS Elijah Hainline (4) both hit solo HRs. Later in the inning, with one out, LF Chris Newell singled, GLP and Vetrano walked, and McLain was HBP for a 2nd time in the game to score Newell. George hit a ground out with Newell scoring.
LHRP Evan Shaw pitched a scoreless 7th.
In the bottom of the 7th, De Paula, Nevin, and Hope each singled with De Paula scoring. Hainline drew a BB and to load the bases. Nevin and Hope each scored on a fielding error to tie the score at 7-7.
With Shaw going back out in the 8th, he got two quick outs, but then gave up a single and double for the go ahead run. LHRP Christian Suarez finished the inning and pitched a scoreless 9th.
Unfortunately Tulsa could not muster enough offense in the final 2 innings to get the 8th run, and they went down 8-7.
Kyle Nevin was the lone Tulsa batter to get 2 hits.
Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals) 11 – Great Lakes Loons 1
This was a forgettable game. Two of the better Loons pitchers, LHSP Jakob Wright and RHSP Aidan Foeller pitched poorly in this one.
- Jakob Wright – 3.1 IP, 6 runs (all earned), 8 hits, 1 BB, 5 K
- Aidan Foeller – 4.0 IP, 5 runs (2 earned), 4 hits, 2 BB, 6 K, 2 HR
Things did not go much better for the offense. The Loons got 6 hits, including one triple by 2B Nico Perez (1).
Turn the page!
Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres) 12 – Ontario Tower Buzzers 9 – 10 innings
And yet another poor pitching performance from an affiliate. 6 pitchers allowed 12 runs (11earned), 19 hits including 3 HR, 6 BB, with 9 K. But in this one, the offense turned this one into a back and forth high scoring affair.
RHSP Hyun-Seok Jang gave up a 2-run HR in the 2nd for a quick 2-0 lead.
Ontario answered back in the bottom of the 2nd. 1B Easton Shelton led off with a BB. 2B Mairo Martinus followed with a single. With one out, DH Jose D. Hernandez singled to load the bases. With 2 outs, CF Jaron Elkins hit a 2 run single.
With Jang still on the bump in the 4th, he allowed a single, SB, and run scoring single before RHRP Jholbran Herder relieved Jang to finish the inning.
Herder gave up a HR in the 5th to give the Storm a 4-2 lead.
In the 5th, with 2 outs, RF Ching-Hsien Ko walked and came home on Shelton’s 2-run HR (4) to tie the score.
Ontario took a brief lead in the 6th with C Conner O’Neal’s 2nd HR.
After pitching a scoreless 6th inning, RHRP Seamus Barrett returned to pitch in the 7th. He allowed a double, run scoring single, WP, another run scoring single, and was removed for RHRP Jhonny Jimenez. Jimenez walked the next batter, and allowed another run scoring single, giving Lake Elsinore a 7-5 lead.
Ontario bounced back in the bottom of the 8th. With one out Martinus singled and moved to 2nd on O’Neal’s BB. Hernandez slugged a 3-run HR (4), giving Ontario an 8-7 lead.
Down to one out for the win, RHRP Robby Porco issued a BB and gave up a 2-run HR and the lead.
Doubles in the 9th by 3B Emil Morales and Martinus tied the game at 9-9.
In the 10th, RHRP Domingo Geronimo gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and 1 BB, giving Lake Elsinore a 12-9 lead.
In the home half of the 10th, Ontario got one back when LF AJ Soldra drove home the placed runner.
- Jaron Elkins – 3-6, 2 RBI
- Emil Morales – 2-5, 1 BB, 1 run, double (11)
- Mairo Martinus – 3-5, 2 runs, 1 RBI, double (6)
- Jose D. Hernandez – 2-5, 1 run, 3 RBI, HR (4)
Easton Shelton (4) and Conner O’Neal (2) also hit HR.
ACL Dodgers Did Not Play Sunday
They probably wish they did not play on Saturday. They lost 24-6 to ACL Seattle. 5 pitchers allowed 24 runs on 11 hits, 19 BB, and 4 K, while 3 other pitchers did not allow a run, on 3 hits, 2 BB, 6 K, also in 4.0 IP.
They play ACL Rangers on Monday.

Anybody here know the name David Lesch? I didn’t. There’s an interesting read in this morning’s Times about him. Former Dodgers draft pick that got a Harvard education paid for instead of a large signing bonus. Worked out well for him.
And Phil, there’s a column on Sasaki and a grip change that is working for him. Thought of our conversation yesterday. That was fun. Thanks.
Somebody mentioned the name Hairline yesterday and it cracked me up. Whoever that was, thanks for the laugh.
Hershiser mentioned something regarding a starter maybe going to the bullpen when Snell returns. Sheehan? He might could make another long man.
Schneid over? Hope so. Would like to see a few double digit wins in row in the Texas. Asstros. Errr. I hates the asstros.
Thanks for MiLB box scores Jeff. Always a fun way for me to start the day.
You are welcome Badger. I too enjoy our conversations. Keep em coming…..
Riddle me this.
Has there ever been an instance where a Cy Young Award winning starting pitcher has not been able to crack his team’s playoff rotation?
I know it’s early but……
Who would you be referring to?
Wrobo
Long way to go. There could be someone new to the team in that rotation.
Interesting question Cassidy. The Cy Young is not awarded until after the World Series, so the pitcher who eventually wins the award would not know until long after the playoffs were over. There have been award winners whose teams did not make the playoffs. About the only way I can think of that a winner would not make his team’s playoff roster is if he had sustained an injury close to the end of the season. But they have been more than a few winners whose teams did not make the post season. Skenes last year is an example.
The answer is NO.
“John Sterling, the iconic “Voice of the Yankees,” passed away on May 4, 2026, at the age of 87. His death was announced by WFAN Sports Radio, the station where he spent the vast majority of his legendary career.Sterling’s career spanned 64 years, though he was most famously synonymous with the New York Yankees.Yankees Tenure (1989–2024): He joined the Yankees’ broadcast booth in 1989 and called 5,420 regular-season games and 211 postseason games before retiring in April 2024″.
RIP. Man had a memorable voice that is for sure.
If James Tibbs III succeeds as a Dodger, do we call him Mr. Tibbs? Asking for a friend.
He is officially JT3.
JT3 doesn’t have a movie though.
You just haven’t seen it yet:

But do they call him Mr Tibbs?
The term “pitch ability” was coined for pitchers like Wrobleski. He is so refreshing and I’v become a big fan.
He stopped the bleeding Sunday with another great performance.
In the current arena where velo and swing and miss are king, I love to see Worbs pitch to contact. The Dodger pitchers had two K’s from their staff; both by Scott who wrecked the “perfect game” in the 9th inning. I love it. Just outstanding work by Justin.
Do I love to watch a dominant pitcher, like a Paul Skenes mow through a line up? Hell yeah.
But I also love and appreciate a Wrobleski who’s a pitcher and not a thrower.
Very nice team win.
I’m really impressed with the young, rebuilding Cardinals. There middle infield is terrific and a double-play machine.
I’m also impressed with Kim and Freeland’s work up the middle. Freeland has a nice cross-over turn at second that Gavin Lux never mastered. This group hasn’t missed a defensive beat during Mookie’s absence.
It’s so nice to see Muncy injury free and trim. He’s hitting and playing great defense. He has gone from barely adequate defensively to a plus. He’s throwing darts to Freddie and shows way better lateral movement.
It’s hard to imagine Ohtani’s lack of production at the plate recently. Since April 12th, Ohtani has one home run and 3 RBI, hitting .212 / .675. The Dodgers are 10 and 9 over that stretch and while he’s not been alone, the case can be made that as Ohtani goes, so go the Dodgers.
Funny thing with Ohtani, he wants his offense in the lineup when he pitches.
I like to watch Kim throw the ball and Freeland’s overall defense.
Why did Max wait until this year to trim down. Even I like this version of Max.
I wonder if Kim and Freeland might share 2nd base when Betts returns.
I’m looking forward to Sirota joining the team.
I enjoy Sheehan and Wrobleski.
Jim and Freeland will probably split time. Only problem is that Freeland hits better from the left side. He could also help Muncy out on occasion.
Depends how soon Mookie gets back, but also how close to the return of Kike that happens. They will be on the roster, period, with Espinal the most likely to be cut first, one of Freeland or Kim is gone when both of those guys are activated. The other is gone when Edman returns. Matter of numbers, not talent.
Call could be traded because Kike and Tommy T can play OF.
In fact, I think that could be the plan.
Call has .7 WAR in 31 at bats this year. Kiké had .2 WAR in 232 at bats all of last season. Call also slugged higher than Kiké. I’d rather see Call at the plate than Hernandez. Kiké is good in the clubhouse? Great. Give him a job there.
Call won’t be traded; I believe that is the LEAST likely scenario. LA likes their veterans and Kike is no everyday outfielder.
Sarah Langs is one of the very very best. It was her birthday, May 2. Emmet Sheehan wished her a happy birthday with one of his K ALS gloves.

But do they call him Mr Tibbs?
Yep. Déjà Vu All Over Again all over again.
Sasaki pitches to contact as well. Except his contact goes over the fence. Maybe he found something finishing up the last 3 innings last outing. We need to bring Tommy back down and give Roki the Bulldog speech. Toughen him up
Skubal to have elbow surgery
That’s 3 right?
Bet they would trade him now.
This falls under the category of : I TOLD YOU SO!”
They are removing loose body’s in his elbow, it is not TJ surgery. No timetable set for his return yet, 4-8 weeks seems logical.
