This article has 12 Comments

  1. Dodgers acquired Inf-OF Tyler Fitzgerald from the Jays for cash considerations. Fitzgerald was added to the 40-man when Landon Knack was placed on the 60-day IL. Fitzgerald slugged 15 homers as a rookie in 24 for the Giants. But his K rate raised some concerns. He was placed on OKC’s AAA roster.

  2. After 30 games, 132 to go, LA is 20-10. Exact same record they had last season. Padres are 19-10 1/2 game back. They lost 8-3 to the Cubs. A Bergman single drove in the 5th run, and Crow-Armstrong hit a 3-run homer to cap it. LA should not lose to a guy like Junk. LA did not have an extra base hit. Pages is now slumping, his BA down to .324. The good thing was LA had just 4 Ks. Ohtani walked 4 and struck out 9. The bullpen kept Miami off of the board again. Freeman had a hit and Smith had 3. Rushing, Tucker, Muncy, Teo, and Kim were all ofer. Rushing got aboard on an error and scored the only run in the 8th on Smith’s RBI single.

  3. Ohtani also hit a batter…who then advanced on Ohtani’s throwing error.
The greatest player in the world cost himself this game with a couple of poor throws.
    Oh well.
Rushing handled the DH duties. Will this become standard when Shohei pitches?

Tyler Fitzgerald seems like a good acquisition. Maybe the Dodgers can fix that K problem.

    1. Roberts wanted Shohei to concentrate on the pitching. It worked most of the time. But they could have used his bat. Rushing’s Abs were not very good. He struck out on a pitch clock violation.

      1. Rushing appeared to have called time out on that pitch violation. He was pissed.

Personally I thought Ohtani’s throwing error should have been caught, or at least knocked down. Freeland arrived at the bag late and was jumping in the air when the ball arrived. Then Pages throw on the sac fly was 12’ off line. I’ve seen better throws in junior high. Oh well. If you only score 1 you don’t deserve to win.

Every team in the West lost yesterday so no ground lost.

  4. Shohei Ohtani: 30-Game Side-by-Side (2025 vs. 2026)
Stat Category 2025 (First 30 Games) 2026 (First 30 Games)
    Batting Average (AVG) .284 .278
    On-Base Percentage (OBP) .381 .398
    Slugging Percentage (SLG) .561 .500
    On-Base Plus Slugging (OPS) .942 .898
    Home Runs (HR) 9 6
Runs Batted In (RBI) 18 13
    At Bats (AB) 113 108
    Stolen Bases (SB) 5 3

He only batted in 28 games in 2026

    1. It wasn’t Ohtani yesterday. 1 earned in 6. It was everyone but Smith. 4 for 31? That blows.

Slugging lineups will have games like this one. However, .667 win % is a pace for 108 wins. That likely won’t happen. Why? Games like this one.

I wonder how long Mookie will be out?

      1. Rehab Assignment: Mookie Betts is projected to begin a minor-league rehab assignment as early as the weekend of May 1–3 or the following week.
MLB Return: If the rehab stint goes well, he is feasible for a return to the big-league roster in the second half of May or sooner.
Current Activity: He is already participating in defensive drills, taking grounders, and hitting in the cage.

  5. Nice outing by Blake Snell last night at Single A Ontario. He should be back by the end of May or sooner.

  6. The Dodgers expect Kiké Hernández to return to the active roster on Monday, May 25, 2026 for a home game against the Rockies.
