Watford Dodger has been CJ Abrams’ agent since Christ was in Cleveland. BTW: Happy Easter to Everyone! I was never a fan because of his youthful immaturity… and he is still there to some degree, but I do think he is going to have a monster bat. There is 30 HR potential in that bat, and he’s a potential .300 hitter with mid-.800 OPS. The thing is: he is not a good SS… but I do think he could be a good 2B! Maybe even a great 2B.
It’s clear to me that the Dodgers do not value Hyeseong Kim’s singles bat… maybe the Nats do. The Nats are in a full rebuild mold, and Abrams will be gone by the time they rebuild. He’s not part of the long-range plan. I don’t know if Kim is a better 2B than Abram, but I believe he’s a better SS. Abram is arbitration-eligible in 2027 and is a free agent in 2029. He will easily get $10+ Million then. The Nats want no part of that.
The Dodgers have a glut of outfielders and a 1B the Nats could use. How about Kim, JT3, and another player (or two) for CJ Abrams? I love Tibbs III, but you have to give up something to get something. That’s how it works. Freeland could be part of that deal, but I would prefer to keep him as the Dodgers’ future “Swiss Army Knife,” following in Kike’s footsteps.
The Dodgers don’t have to trade for CJ Abrams… but…
On a personal level, I met with my hip doctor on Friday, and the hip I had replaced 16 years ago has at least another 16 years left. That will put me at 90, so I’m good there. The left hip was the one I was worried about, but there is plenty of cartilage left and no signs of arthritis. The Doc thinks a couple of weeks of Physical Terrorism, followed by a continuation of that regimen afterward, will fix it. I also got a referral for my back. This will be the Fifth Back Specialist I have talked to. Some of the back doctors are just hacks and want to fill you up with painkillers – I don’t do that crap! Hopefully, this is the guy. My hip Doc says he’s the only one he trusts with his wife’s bad back. Now… about that brain transplant.
US Water Systems has opened a new branch in Tampa, Florida (right where 4 and 75 intersect). My nephew, who is our VP of Business Development, is moving his family there this month and will oversee operations there as well. My son is living there for this month with his family, but will be back when my nephew takes over. We have one more employee moving there in July, and we currently have five others who live there and work remotely who will utilize that office. Next Spring, we will move West to Phoenix, and we plan to buy a condo or winter home there. I may have to get my Press Passes back then… By the way, we are the ONLY family-owned Major OEM Manufacturer of water treatment equipment in the industry and plan to keep it that way.
There is a lot of great stuff happening in the Minors…

Just tried to post this on the last thread but it was closed. It would appear Mark and I are on a similar page here:
Abrams. Dodgers don’t need him. They already have 4 second baseman. 5 if you count Kiké. 6 if you count Espinal. 7 if you count Muncy. Heck, you could count Betts as a second baseman too.
Seems to me if you can list 8 second baseman on your team you don’t have a second baseman, but you do have a rowing team. Stroke. Stroke. Stroke.
Three strokes and you’re out.
And if Betts’ back is hurt badly enough to keep him out a significant amount of time, all 7 of those guys might be asked to play short. Dodgers up the middle infield could soon be in flux.
Flux that.
I wonder if Washington would be interested in trading Abrams? Doubt it, but he would look good in our lineup. Give them Freeland, Kim and a pitcher and let Edman, Rojas and Kiké rotate at second. I know, not going to happen. But it’s Easter, so, I’ don’t mind laying an egg here.
I appreciated this post, Badger.
Thanks Brian. I appreciate you saying that.
Maybe playing second could reduce Betts injuries. For me that would put Freeland at short.
Speaking of egg laying, Jeff sure laid one when he said he would not trade Pages straight up for PCA.
I wouldn’t either.
Happy Easter. Good luck with your medicals Mark.
Go for the sweep today before 3 in Toronto who is currently struggling with the mighty pale hose(White Sox).
What a night for Jo Adell robbing 3 HR’s from the Mariners.
Final four NCAA games were ok. Illinois just played uphill all night while Michigan routed Arizona. Should be a good national championship game tomorrow night.
Keep in mind,Connecticut is the capital of Men’s and Women’s College Baskrtball!
I am rooting for UConn mainly because a local former Indiana Mr. Basketball, Braylon Mullins, is on UConn. He played for a school one county over from where we live.
Quite a player.
I’ve have more futures coming on UConn than Michigan but Hurley is such a dbag that I will happily take less and root for Michigan.
We DON’T need Abrams and I DON’T want Abrams. He is not the type of player AF would pursue with his troubled background and lackadaisical play. A couple of plays at shortstop yesterday by him would wonder why anyone would want him. The Dodgers have better options and remember Edman will be back with 3 years remaining on his contract.
Edman is one the 7 I mentioned earlier. It’s a strong possibility he will be the Dodgers choice to start at second when he returns. Personally I look at him and his 97 OPS+ as a utility player, of which the Dodgers have a plethora, but I know the team’s management love the guy. So what happens to Freeland and Kim? Trade bait? Maybe along with Tibbs they could be used in a package to get Skubal or Skenes.
I prefer Skenes because of age.
I like Edman. He can be my starting 2b any day. I also like Freeland, who may be Edman’s understudy and Muncy insurance for a couple years, which is just fine.
Kim does appear to be first man out, although we are seeing how quickly that can change. He better play well or the possibility of a trade will increase. He has interesting multi-year team option and coukd be appealing to a low-payroll team.
As for Tibbs, he’s fascinating. There’s no spot for him but that doesn’t mean he should be traded. Let’s say he mashes AAA all year long, gets a cup of coffee, then makes us move Teo in tbe offseason with one year left on his contract.
Nice problem to have. He’s our #1 prospect now.
One week does not make a #1 Prospect.
Triple-A: Oklahoma City Comets
Final Score: Las Vegas Aviators 8, Oklahoma City 5
Highlights: James Tibbs III delivered a historic three-homer performance, connecting for solo shots in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th innings. Noah Miller also added a two-run blast in the 2nd inning to give OKC an early lead. Despite the power surge, the Aviators rallied with three runs in both the 4th and 6th innings to secure the win.
Double-A: Tulsa Drillers
Final Score: Tulsa 4, San Antonio Missions 0
Highlights: The Drillers’ pitching staff dominated, with Patrick Copen (5 innings), Lucas Wepf, and Wyatt Crowell combining for a 14-strikeout shutout. Offensively, Kyle Nevin and Elijah Hainline provided all the support needed with solo home runs to clinch the season-opening series victory.
High-A: Great Lakes Loons
Status: Postponed
Details: The scheduled game against the Fort Wayne TinCaps was postponed due to inclement weather. The teams are set to play a doubleheader on Sunday, April 5th.

Zach Root is making his Dodger debut as a starting pitcher in one of the games of the doubleheader today at High-A Great Lakes today.
Zazueta/Root is a must-see DH pairing.
Copen looked like a big leaguer out there.
Tunink with helium.
Tibbs is going to force his hand at some point.
No thanks on Abrams.
I posted earlier this morning and it didn’t make it! Abram’s would not replace mookie. He would play second. If a trade were to be made! I don’t believe that it would happen, but some whispers are out there. All just speculation , but his speed would fit in nicely. As I said this morning, Tibbs is looking like a beast! But where does he fit in? An injury seems like his only path to playing in LA. But the nationals already have James Woods. Kim is a mystery to me. He’s a singles hitter, yes. But! That’s a double with his speed, right? If Freeland hits .275 and play second and third, who’s the more valuable player? The Dodgers need some speed for sure! Abram’s ain’t Puig! Could happen!
Glasnow looks really good! Just stay healthy ! 15-16 wins are very possible!
Camparius and Hernandez are possibly pitching their way to AAA!
Tanner Scott is going to be very valuable this season!
Sasaki needs to take it an another step forward today. Control and command are crucial!
Doc should be fired! He’s already lost 2 games! No excuses! He has to go!!
The Los Angeles Dodgers game against the Washington Nationals today, Sunday, April 5, 2026, is at a high risk of being delayed or postponed due to heavy rain in Washington, D.C..
Weather Summary for Nationals Park
Current conditions at the stadium show light to moderate rain with an 89% chance of precipitation. Forecasts indicate that rain will intensify near the scheduled 1:35 PM EDT first pitch, with a 99% chance of moderate to heavy rain during the early innings. While the rain is expected to taper off significantly by late afternoon (around 4:00 PM), the initial window for starting the game remains highly unfavorable.
{Insert Roki worried face here}
I shall be rooting for the UCLA women today.
Not a fun last 2 days for the Lakers. Let’s see who steps up today in Dallas tonight.
I look forward to the next MLB prospects list to see where Tibbs gets ranked.
Joe Adel highlights yesterday were amazing. How often does an outfielder get a chance to make 3 HR robbing plays, AND make them? I”m sure it was crazy loud in Anaheim last night, especially after that last robbery!
Better Mookie heal up his back issues now, when it’s early in the season. I’m sure Freeland/MiggyRo/Kim will hold the fort till hes back.
Andy Pages is making a case to eventually move up in the lineup from the bottom 3 to the middle 3. It would be interesting to see how that unfolds over the next 2-3 months. This is how you keep the dynasty rolling: younger guys stepping up as the older guys slowly decline.
Kings fightin for the last playoff spot. It will be a fun next 12 days in the NHL! GKG!!
I have friends who went to Michigan, and I may not know a soul from the state of Connecticut, so I”ll root for Michigan tomorrow night.
Mark I’ll be sending you my resume to be head janitor for your new Phoenix location.
You are not taking my job!
dammit
Before Mookie proved he could be a high-quality SS, I thought the Dodgers might be wise to shop for a young, talented, gold-glove-caliber SS like the Rockies’ Tovar or the Card’s Masyn Winn. I figured that Mookie would play 2B, and it would be good for the team to get younger with a guy who’d be batting 9th.
But it turned out Mookie was the SS of the future….

Betts to the IL with an oblique strain
Kim will get a chance
UConn’s Braylon Mullins has another March Madness moment, finishing off Illinois
–Gregg Doyel/Indianapolis Star
He did it again. Braylon Mullins, obviously. The UConn basketball freshman from Greenfield-Central. Indiana’s Mr. Basketball last year, America’s favorite college basketball superhero this year. He did it again Saturday night in the Final Four, burying the most important shot of the game as the Huskies beat Illinois 71-62 to advance to the 2026 NCAA championship game Monday night.
It’s possible you’re seeing the score – 71-62 – and if you didn’t see the game, you’re wondering:
So?
And?!?
No, Mullins’ shot Saturday night wasn’t nearly as dramatic as his game-winning 3-pointer against Duke in the East Regional final, the shot that put the Huskies into the 2026 Final Four.
That one beat Duke.
This one saved UConn.
You saw the game? Good, then you know. UConn was in control from start to finish – it helped that Mullins hit his first two shots, both 3-pointers, to give UConn an immediate 8-2 lead – and led 57-43 with 9:44 left. This game was over.
Only, it wasn’t. Because UConn can’t hit a shot, and Illinois is pounding away, getting to the foul line and creeping closer, closer, closer until the UConn lead is down to 63-59 with 1:38 left. UConn coach Danny Hurley has been calling timeout after timeout, trying to stop this from happening, but Illinois won’t go away.
Until.
Until Braylon Mullins, obviously.
The Huskies have the ball, leading 63-59, and they miss another shot – they were 22 of 62 for the game (35.5%), and 8 of 28 in the second half (28.6%) – but they grab the rebound and are working the shot clock and it’s inside six seconds, five seconds, four.
The game clock is inside a minute.
Mullins is coming off a screen, catching a pass from Silas Demary Jr., and rising. He’s shooting a 3, and it’s pure, and UConn leads 66-59 and now, finally, this one is over. Illinois misses its final three shots, UConn makes its final six free throws, and the final score looks how it looks.
But Braylon Mullins won this game. Again.
Need him to come up big against Michigan tomorrow night in the Championship game. It’s going tough to beat Michigan.
They are monsters
Don’t look now, but old friend Miguel Vargas is rounding into form.
Great for him!
I was a big supporter of Miggy Vargas and took a lot of heat from fans who thought James Outman was the best thing since sliced bread. Progress is not linear, and now Vargas is likely going to be an above-average to a star player, while Outman is on his way out of baseball.
I don’t always get it right, but I did champion Adrian Belte, Clayton Kershaw, Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager, and Andy Pages… among others. I did whiff on Andy LaRoche, Alex Verdugo, Diego Cartaya, and Keibert Ruiz (I once believed that Kaybear would supplant Will Smith – that was stupid!)
You were right on Lux too

450 + 427 + 426 = a lot of feet of homers
None was a cheapie
Mookie to the IL.
Kim to LA.
Oblique!
At Great Lakes:
Zazueta – 3 IP/0 H/0BB/7 K
Davalan – 2-3 /2 HR/5 RBI
Quintero – 2-2/2 R
Sirota – 2 BB/2R
Wagner- 1-2/2 RBI
Loons are ahead 11-0 in the 3rd inning.
Sirota looking fleet on the bases
Sirota got rung up on a CB Buckner quality call at the end of game 1. I think the ump wanted out of the cold.
Quintero/Sirota/Davalan
Vs.
DePaula/George/Hope
Who you got?
Wow, I want to eat popcorn and watch that battle
Tibbs/Ehrhard/[Siani]
Vs.
Elkins/Tunink/Vidourek
ain’t bad either
Altjough Ko would improve Ontario’s OF
Where is Jang btw?
I do not think Siani is long for this organization.
Jang is still at Camelback.
Quintero/Sirota/Davalan
Interesting
Tough luck 4th for Roki. But another 0-2 center cut pitch by Dodger pitcher killed his day! Need a $100,000 fine to cure that problem.
He’s still looking for control. Command is a ways away at this point. That ground ball hitting the base cost him four runs, but he’s got to cut the walks.
He can pick up an extra 2 MPH in 1 or 2 inning bursts and be successful.
Everything I see screams “Reliever.”
I will say that I saw more compete today.
He can be frustrating. I feel so much is just fastball location.
Good thing the series in Washington is over. We scored fewer runs each day!!
I really like Alex Call. Always a tough out. Underrated.
I bet Kyle Tucker hasn’t been rested after 7 games too often in his career.
I like him too.
I was just about to complain that the Dodgers gave Rushing his first 2 starts against lefties whe he hit his home against a lefty.
Give Tubbs a SS glove and get his bat in the lineup!
Tubbs may not fit at SS, but Crocket definitely would
Tibbs would be easy to spot. The only lefthanded shortstop in professional baseball. Someone needs to break the mold.
Underhand toss to Freeland for the relay throw.
Teo must’ve heard me talking about Tibbs so much. Tibbs this!
