Dodger’s pitcher Alex Vesia revealed on social media that his infant daughter Sterling died in the final week of October.
“Our little angel, we love you forever & you’re with us always. Our beautiful daughter went to heaven on Sunday, October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through, but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her,” Vesia wrote in the caption of an Instagram post of him holding his daughter’s hand.
“Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us, and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them. Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It’s brought us so much comfort.
What a terrible thing to have to go through.
Godspeed to the Vesias!

No words are needed!

Life is hard. Love is harder.
Deepest condolences to the Vesia family.
Sincerest condolences to Alex and his wife. Losing a child is tragic
Alex, stay strong for you and your family. You are a warrior and you will overcome all of this. My condolences to your entire family.
My prayers go out to the Vesia family during these trying times.

Amen
My wife and I lost a baby girl 30 years ago. We didn’t know why God took her from us. It was several years later our second daughter was born and she is a grown woman now, with 2 of the most beautiful little kids. We adore them and love our only daughter. If our daughter who was stillborn at 9 months in the womb would have lived, would she have been able to have children ? Let alone function independently as she died in an umbilical cord accident. The almighty Lord works in mysterious ways.
I thought that the Big Blue Dodger in the sky pulled this World Series Championship off with all the crazy things that took place, from a ball getting stuck at the base of the wall, the outs by inches, the timing of those home runs and those game ending double plays, but I was wrong.
It was the newest little angel in heaven by the name of Sterling.
God bless and comfort you Alex and your lovely wife. I hurt and pray for the three of you.
I so know his pain. He’ll revisit that pain every day for the rest of his life. So sad to hear this.
Some things are bigger than baseball. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Vesia family.
My wife and I tried for 5 years to have a baby without ever getting pregnant.I was the problem. My wife told me that God would give us a baby if we would adopt. We adopted from Kazakaistan and 10 months later we our own baby.We had 2 babies,a red head and blonde Russian.Well those 2 girls are southern 26 and 24 and they are beautiful and sweet and smart. Now it hasn’t always been easy , but I know we were in God,s plan.Sometimes I look at things that don’t make sense and I wonder why God? But it may not be about me.But it may take me a long time to see what Gods plan was
My son was born when I was 46 and my wife was 36. He jokes, “Dad, you have always been old.” When he was 4 or 5 and in daycare, people would say, “Is this your grandson?” Of course, he’s now the CEO of our company at 26, and now they ask, “Is this your grandson?” as I hold his son!

“The latest reports indicate that Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report for 2026 Spring Training around February 11. The official start of camp is expected to be the following week. This date is based on the collective bargaining agreement, which allows teams to require pitchers and catchers to report as early as 43 days before Opening Day”.
Can’t wait. 94 Days till 2026 Spring Training. The road to a 3-peat starts then.
