Now Hear This!

Due to circumstances beyond my control, people are coming here with political comments or baiting others. It won’t continue to happen. I will be using most of Jon Weisman’s Rules. Here they are:

Thank you For Not …
1) using profanity or any euphemisms for profanity
2) personally attacking other commenters
3) baiting other commenters
4) arguing for the sake of arguing
5) discussing politics
6) using hyperbole when something less will suffice
7) using sarcasm in a way that can be misinterpreted negatively
8) making the same point over and over again
9) being annoyed by the existence of this list
10) commenting under the obvious influence
11) claiming your opinion isn’t allowed when it’s just being disagreed with

  1. just a quote from planes trains and automobiles! doesn’t mean anything. how bout them dodgers?

    1. I”m more than happy to discuss Planes Trains Automobiles (Dell Griffith is on the GOAT list), OR discuss my Chicago Bears (who may or may not suck again, but Chicago is a fun city to visit)!!

  2. I have a question:
Do I appear, mean, or am I somewhere on that list?
Because I don’t want to hurt feelings or offend some very delicate eyes.
But it’s okay, I promise not to bother anyone, I’ll be very respectful from now on.

And by the way, although it’s not important, I don’t hate anyone, because no one is important enough to hate.

I don’t hate those SD players, I just want to kill them!

    1. You can hate on the Madres all you want. Doesn’t bother me.

Even though my transcendent intellect finds such paltry cavilings and base impulses to be obnoxiously boorish. …ok, that was sarcasm. I can’t help it!!!

  3. If I can’t use sarcasm, how am I supposed to communicate?

    It’s basically my mother tongue.

NO Conforto again against a RH ptcher

  5. If the Dodgers do part ways with Conforto I think they would improve the team by moving either Edman or Kim to the outfield and playing the other at second base. Both are equal or better defensively and much better offensively.

I don’t understand why Dave Roberts has been pinch hitting Kiki for Kim. Does anyone have an insight?

    1. They haven’t seen to many lefties, so I think he’s trying to get Kike’ some at bats.

      1. ^^^ THIS^^^
AND because Kiké is occasionally lightning in a bottle! It seems Will the Thrill is developing the same ability.

    1. That would require more time and effort. That’s asking a lot of Mark, I think.
We should be able to police ourselves.
I’m fairly certain I never start a political argument — but I sometimes feel a patriotic duty to engage, especially when the truth of a matter is twisted beyond recognition.

  6. if we don’t make them, he doesn’t have to delete them…. and i said earlier, why take kim out every time a lefty comes in? he’s got more to offer than kike at this time

      1. The burden is ALWAYS on the individual, but still people are posting inappropriate content

    1. DD,
      Your comments were right on.
Kim would be a leadoff on most teams. Low strikeout rate, high onbase pct and speed. Plus he can play GG Defense at short and 2b and all three OF positions
He is another Ichero with a little less power.

Ohtani is on pace for over two hundred Ks. Twice last night he killed rallies with non productive outs. Nothing against an amazing HR hitter, but batting him 3/4 with speed and high OBP ahead of him would make pitchers nervous and give him better pitches.

      1. That is not, and has not been, the traits and role of a lead off hitter in quite some time.

        See: Schwarber, Kyle

        1. Granted Kim doesn’t hit hrs often but Mullins Arraez, Turner, Diaz are all leadoffs and their key traits are they don’t strike out 200+ times a year, have great base running abilities, and set the plate for the power hitters. Also with the larger bases and blocking rules, speedier players have gotten new life. Just seems a waste to put Kim, with his numbers , at the bottom of the order

          1. Unless Kim get on base in the 9th spot, which creates an RBI opportunity for Ohtani.

The 9th spot is also inherently lower pressure. It’s a good place to put a recently called up rookie.

Shohei also walks at a 14% clip, has a .388 OBP, and is the team leader in SBs. Isn’t that what you want in a leadoff hitter?

          2. are you just making stuff up?

Mullens doesn’t lead off for Baltimore.

Arraez doesn’t lead off for San Diego. nor does he run much.

            who are Diaz and Turner?

Trae Turner leads off this year, but not in previous years.

        2. Mullins Arraez, Turner, Diaz are all great and their key traits are they have great base running abilities, and set the plate for the big guys. Also with the larger bases and blocking rules, speedier players have gotten new life. Just seems a waste to put Kim, with his numbers , at the bottom of the order

  7. “The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of Jack Little from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned Emmet Sheehan prior to their series finale against the San Diego Padres.

Tony Gonsolin was transferred to the 60-day injured list in order to make room for Little on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, which remains full. There was an open spot but that was filled Wednesday when the Dodgers activated Sheehan off the 60-day injured list for his 2025 debut”.

  8. I think there is some real hate between the two NL West managers. Something I haven’t seen in Doc. Dodgers needed a little Lasorda in the clubhouse and the Pods provided it. Little started a fight in his first MLB game. Baptism by fire. He has some serious composure and guts, pitching well after the mele. Instant acceptance in the clubhouse.

  9. It’s time for Yamamota to develop a hang nasil infection and head to the IL for some R&R. Not the same pitcher as he was earlier in the season. When he returns,he needs to have full 7(SEVEN) days rest between starts when he is most effective according to his stats.

  10. I agree on the hangnail IL stint for Yamamoto. With others returning and the Dodgers in their current position, it’s a good time to hangnail. Maybe he can get designated as an AS and then hangnail it, using part of that time in his 10 days. I have an untrained eye but he seems to be almost 2 mph down. The splitter doesn’t feel as wicked as it did in April. His curveball looks good. I wonder what the batting averages are against his different pitches? He’s a good guy and we need to give him every resource to shine.

  11. Put Rushing in left.
Let Conforto go. (or a bench player)
Bring up Hunter Feduccia to backup Smith

      1. I don’t think there’s much between his ears. The ribs might linger. You don’t throw at Ohtani!

  13. Mike Shildt is a tool.

    That is all oh and…..

Happy Kershaw day to all that partake!

  14. I don’t know how much I will be around this weekend (I will be watching the Pacers Sunday night), but the wife and I are in Mountain View, California, for the weekend. We return home Monday night. Out here to see her family. Maybe go into SF on Monday! I want to know if they are cleaning it up.

  15. It’s a shame I can no longer express what I think of that team of good and talented SD players. After all, they are very good people, very beloved players.

Now I understand why many of you are so afraid of that team, I shuddered in terror when I read this:
Manny Machado says the Dodgers should “pray” that Fernando Tatis Jr.’s X-rays come back clean.

    I’M AFRAID!

    1. Meanwhile, Ohtani gets thrown at intentionally and, instead of flipping out, gestures to the Dodger bench to chill, and shakes Arraez’s hand as a peace overture when he gets to first.

Most of the comments I’ve read have applauded Ohtani for his class, which restores my faith in humanity somewhat.

BTW, Machado ended Dustin Pedroia’s career with a borderline dirty slide.

  16. Dodgers are trading for LHP Zach Penrod from the Red Sox per MLBTR. Return to the Sox not known yet. Penrod was DFAd in the wake of the Devers trade. He has been at AAA after an elbow issue sidelined him for about 3 months. He most likely will be sent to AAA OKC as he has pitched just 7.1 innings at AAA.

    1. “The Dodgers have made it official, announcing that they acquired Penrod in exchange for cash considerations. Right-hander Roki Sasaki has been transferred to the 60-day injured list as the corresponding active roster move. Sasaki has been on the IL since mid-May due to a shoulder impingement. He can be reinstated 60 days from that initial IL placement, which would be mid-July. He was recently shut down from throwing and has an uncertain timeline”.

  17. KERSHAW day! Well i won’t get to watch it because of the mlb stupid blackout rule! i live 5 1/2 hours from d.c. so i dont have masn cable on my cable provider, so i get the shaft! And yes i have mlb package, but it is still blocked from my viewing pleasure! so since i’m in eastern standard time, i can wait till 2am and watch! whoooopeeee! Damn i’m lucky! Well Clayton, keep it rolling tonight! … I just don’t understand all the negativity towards Manny. He’s such a sweetheart of a guy! Don’t hit him in the head or face , it might make him better looking! seriously, enough of the hitting batters. But high praise for Doc! love the fire!

  19. 06/20/25 Los Angeles Dodgers recalled RHP Will Klein from Oklahoma City Comets.
06/20/25 Los Angeles Dodgers optioned RHP Jack Little to Oklahoma City Comets.

  20. Buster Olney:
    “Suspensions for the Padres-Dodgers machinations:
Reliever Robert Suarez 3 games (but he’s appealing and will be eligible until that appeal is heard).
Padres Manager Mike Shildt gets a one-game suspension and fine.
Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts gets a one-game suspension and fine.
Roberts and Shildt will serve their suspensions tonight”.

  21. Manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Sasaki (shoulder) has restarted his throwing program by playing catch from 60-90 feet out, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

“Sasaki paused his throwing program last week due to feeling uncomfortable ramping up to full intensity, but he’ll now give it another shot after sitting down for a few days. The 23-year-old righty will likely remain without a defined return timeline until he begins throwing off a mound or facing hitters, but he’s guaranteed to be out through the All-Star break after moving to the 60-day IL on Friday”.

  22. Glasnow (shoulder) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

“Glasnow tossed about 40 pitches in a sim game Tuesday, and he’s now ready to progress to game action. The veteran righty is expected to log two innings in his initial rehab start Sunday, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, and is slated for at least three rehab outings before coming off the injured list. Glasnow has been on the IL since late April, and though he’s coming up on eligibility to be activated, his timeline suggests early July as a best-case scenario”.
