Kings of the World

We had our annual Memorial Day Party (a week late) yesterday, and it ended around midnight. We did have the Pacers game on, but I deliberately didn’t watch the Dodgers until this morning.

Wowsers!

What an unbelievable beatdown! “We are the World Champs, and you’re not, and just to cement that fact, we are going to give you a classic beatdown!” It’s just one game, but it was fun. Maybe the Muncy and Knack haters will go away. What I like is that the Dodgers talked so much trash after beating the Yankees in the World Series, and are not only backing that up, but they just completely destroyed them.

  1. Truly amazing that there’s EVER a true “laugher” against last season’s ALCS champs but of course we’re very happy to take it.

But before we all start laughin’ & scratchin’ just remember it can happen to the Dodgers too.

So nice to see Max getting some hard earned results shutting up his critics.

  2. Max should pass Kemp sometime soon. Word is Sasaki is aiming for a late June return. Glasnow probably not until after the All-Star break. Sheehan on his way back too.

  3. sunday brunch. …. nice to pound the yankees and ohtani really had a “mediocre “ day…. Teo let me down yesterday! …. Freddie!!!! nothing else needs to be said. …. Will! the best catcher in baseball!….. Andy Pages. Getting better every game. HOSE for an arm!….. Max . my apologies. keep it up!…. Conforto. still have hope. seems to be having fun again……. Edman. a glue stick!….. Kim! Still think he doesn’t belong?…. Knack. see Max! …. Aaron Judge. i hate the Yankees. But that guy is a total beast. Can’t make myself dislike him!! No one in the american league should even smell a mvp vote other than Judge! case closed! … Yamamoto and the sweep?? you bet!! …. Well we finally see Statton. lot of off speed stuff. not sure his fastball scares anyone. worth a look? maybe. …. 26-7 so ffar and the best pitcher on the team pitching? love it!! … Hey, baltimore is cooked. how about a trade for zac efflin? would be a nice addition to the pitching staff. just wondering.

    1. Eflin is a possibility–one of several, I think. A bolder deal with the Orioles could target Eflin + Cedric Mullins.
Mullins could play CF between Pages and Teo and bat 8th ahead of Kim.

With all the injuries, the Dodgers again seem to need more help with pitching than position players. Last season, AF picked up Flaherty from the Tigers for minor leaguers Trey Sweeney and Thayron Liranzo.
Now Flaherty is back with the Tigers, and Sweeney is playing SS behind him.

      1. I still have a hard time with this.

        The rotation right now is:
        YY, May, Gonsolin, Knack, Kershaw.

Snell and Glasnow are coming back.
Sheehan and Ohtani are coming back.

Ferris and Miller are in AAA for spot starts.

How can one imagine another starting pitcher is needed or has a place to slot into?

        1. I am not advocating for the trade, but lets say we got Skenses. Don’t you think he might jump ahead of a few names on that list?

          1. he’s not available, he won’t be traded so why entertain the silly hypothetical.

but yes, they would do a trade for Skenes. They would do a trade for Witt Jr, too

  4. Overlooked fact:
Kim’s HR was in his first official plate appearance against a lefty. Roberts had been using him exclusively against RHP. (I had previously seen data that I misinterpreted as a previous PA against a lefty, but perhaps he had entered as a pinch runner. Whatever.)
His OPS versus lefties is now 5.000.
Overall, his BA is now .422 in 45 ABs, and OPS is 1.058. Goes to show what a 4 for 4 day can do to small sample.
With Mookie out, let’s hope we see him at SS a few more times, and later he can shift back to 2B.

Rancho Cucamonga (Hyun-Seok Jang) at Modesto (Matt Tiberia), 6:40 PM PST

  6. gonsolin and may are coming off serious injuries. Clayton is slowing building up his innings. Yamamoto is pitching his -ss off. Knack has been good. sheehan coming off injury. So if an innings eater is available, yeah you get him. worry about the quantity later. snell and glasnow aren’t for certain

    1. Several veteran pitchers could be on the market, including old friends Tyler Anderson and Andrew Heaney. But the most important addition to the rotation in the second half should be Shohei.
The Yankees had to feel good about today’s game, beating up on Yamamoto, the Dodgers’ ace. All considered, I wish that Yamamoto, and not Knack, had held down the Yankees’ lineup. The Yankees are too good not to bounce back after that drubbing.
The silver lining in today’s game is that Max, Edman and Pages all kept hitting, including those HRs. But the top of the lineup–Shohei, Teo, Freddie and Will–was a collective 0 for 16, with 5 Ks and zero walks. Yikes.
I found it a bit annoying that Roberts started Rojas at SS and not the red-hot Kim.

    1. anybody else bummed Kim not in lineup. Know going against lefty today but he’s hot ride him

      1. Yep, I was bummed.
Kim’s BA against lefties is now 1.000, with a 5.000 OPS!

  8. Emmet Sheehan’s line at Oklahoma City today:

    3IP 2H 0R 0ER 0BB 5K 39 pitches 27 strikes (impressive)

  9. Corbin Burnes of the Diamondbacks was removed from Sunday’s start against the Nationals due to an apparent injury, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.
“The veteran right-hander showcased some decreased velocity during the fifth inning but still retired the first two batters before giving up a single to CJ Abrams and subsequently departing with the training staff. Abrams then came around to score on reliever Jalen Beeks, so Burnes was charged with one earned run across 4.2 innings Sunday. The specifics of the injury are unclear, but the team is likely to update Burnes’ status in the near future”.

    1. I have predicted that he will need TJ soon. Is soon now? We shall see…

  10. 06/01/25 Los Angeles Dodgers placed RHP Luis García on the 15-day injured list retroactive to May 29, 2025. Right adductor strain.
06/01/25 Los Angeles Dodgers recalled RHP Noah Davis from Oklahoma City Comets.

  11. When I read about the Dodgers needing to trade for Zac Eflin or Paul Skenes, I realize I’m reading pure fiction. Let me list the reasons why:

In 2023, the Nats traded a player who was arguably one of the Top 5 players in the game, for six (count ’em 6) San Diego Prospects:

    Jarlin Susana – Not rated
    CJ Abrams – #1 Prospect
    MacKenzie Gore – #4 Prospect
Robert Hassell III – #2 Prospect
    Luke Voit – Not Rated
    James Wood – #5 Prospect

So, just to be clear, the Nats received four Top 5 Prospects for Soto.

Paul Skenes is arguably one of the Top 5 Pitchers in baseball, so logically, the Dodgers would have to give up four of their top 5 prospects:

    Rushing
    DePaula
    Hope
    Freeland
    Ferris

It will take four of these five plus two or more unranked players, like Joe Vetrano and Yenier Fernandez. Do you think that is smart? I don’t! Even Zac Eflin (who has a 4.46 ERA) will cost 1 or 2 Top 5 Prospects.

Today the Dodgers rotation is as follows:

    Yamamoto
    May
    Gonsolin
    Knack
    Kershaw

Bobby Miller is at AAA with 11.2 scoreless innings under his belt. Sheehan will likely be back THIS month. Sasaki, Glasnow, and Snell are supposed to be back in July, but the Dodgers don’t have room for them all. Oh, and then there is Ohtani!

Oh, and Mullins is not bringing his .232 BA to the Dodgers anytime soon. All of this is pure fiction. Andrew Friedman aims to build a team strong enough in the offseason and early part of the season to minimize the need for major acquisitions during the trade deadline period. Friedman has also mentioned that acquiring players at the deadline is often more expensive and can lead to a less optimal outcome compared to acquiring players during the offseason. The Dodgers’ pitching is fine. I suggest some non-fiction material… like this!

  12. Recent deadline aquisitions;
    2021-Scherzer, Trea Turner
    2022-Gallo
    2023-Kike
    2024-Flaherty, Edman, Kopech

    1. Exactly, he had to pay dearly to get them, and last winter he said he did not want to be in that position again.

      1. Here’s some non-fiction material…
A few seasons back, in 2022, AF built a playoff bench that featured Gallo and a rookie named Miguel Vargas even though he had basically flunked a 50 at-bat audition down the stretch.
How weak was that bench? When Roberts needed a pinch-hitter for the struggling Belli in a key moment, he sent Austin Barnes to plate. Given his options, it was the correct call. Barnes lined out.
I like to think AF learned from his mistakes. The Dodgers may not make a bold trade this summer, but last year AF brought in Flaherty, Edman and Kopech–and all proved vital in the championship run.
So are we supposed to believe that Friedman and Gomes will just be sitting on their hands this summer? Will they refuse calls from other teams looking to make deals? Will they say, “Thanks for calling, but we’re all good here.”
I don’t think so. Wheeling and dealing is what they do.
Everything written about the future might be called speculative fiction.
Will the Dodgers trade for Mullins? Probably not. Will the disappointing Orioles deal him if they can get an acceptable price? Probably so. Could the Dodgers and Orioles swing a deal?
        Sure.
        Maybe.
At any rate, the case for Mullins to the Dodgers is very simple:
        Mullins > Conforto.
        And it’s not even close.
Mark, as we all should know, is a great one for cherry-picking stats. He points out Mullins’ .232 BA–but of course he omits his .772 OPS, 10 HRs and 31 RBI. Simply put, Mullins has been a very productive player in the Orioles’ lineup in his “walk” year. Plus, importantly, Mullins provides quality defense in CF.
Conforto is starting to show signs of life, but his BA is .173 and his OPS is .602. He only has 3 HR and 9 RBI. (Tommy Edman, whose stats are roughly comparable to Mullins’s, has 20 more RBI in eight fewer ABs.) Conforto has been the least productive batter on this roster– and the Dodgers don’t consider Conforto an option for CF.
So there’s a logic to building an OF that reads Pages-Mullins-Teo, instead of Conforto-Pages/Edman-Teo.
        Stronger on offense and defense.
And the way that Dodgers’ arms keep falling off, why wouldn’t Friedman and Gomes explore the pitching market? They’ve already added Alexis Diaz, haven’t they?
Why should we think they are done shopping?

        1. Why should we think they are done shopping?

The Dodgers will always be looking to get pitchers like Alexis Diaz. That’s their MO, and it’s smart. It works. Since last season, the Dodgers now have a lot more starting pitchers available. That’s the difference.

Knack, Gonsolin, May, and Miller are all at different phases of development. In the second half, the Dodgers are counting on none of them. Kershaw is back and building up. Sheehan is coming, and so are some combination of Sasaki, Snell, and Glasnow. Then there are Frasso, Wrobleski, Ferris, and Matt Sauer. In 20 IP, Sauer has a better ERA than Eflin.

If you count them up, including Yamamoto, the Dodgers have 14 potential starters at their disposal, some of whom will end up in the bullpen. I do not believe the Dodgers need or are looking for more starting pitching and certainly not Paul Skenes.

I am glad you mentioned Miguel Vargas. He is now the best player on a bad team, and as Jerry Hariston, Jr. noted, “He is becoming the player we’ve all thought he would be.” Progress is not linear! I’d rather trade for Vargas than Robert, Jr… and I’m not trading for either one.

      2. Did AF really “pay dearly” for Flaherty, Edman and Kopech?
I don’t think so. That trio all played a vital role in winning the championship–and AF dealt guys who had little future in LA…

Miguel Vargas was the most familiar name in the 3-team Edman-Kopech deal. He had ample opportunity to succeed with the Dodgers, but fell short. A trade was best for all concerned; he’s much better off with the White Sox. That deal also included young prospects Jeral Perez and Albertus. Too early to say whether they’ll blossom.

For Flaherty, the Dodgers dealt OKC SS Trey Sweeney, who is now the Tigers startingSS but would have had little chance to crack LA’s roster. Also included was catching prospect Thayron Liranzo, who now is reportedly struggling down on the farm.

The Dodgers might be able to roll to another championship without making a single trade, especially if Shohei, Sheehan, Glassnow and Snell return strong. But today’s rough outing from Tanner Scott should have the exploring the pitching market.
        |
BTW, TrueBlueLA has some nice video of Outman walloping another HR and also gunning down a guy at home trying to score on and fly to medium-deep RF.
Gee, it would be a darn shame if Conforto strains an oblique…

  13. Agree with those who suggest searching for a starting pitcher at the trade deadline seems unlikely at this point in time. Mark outlined the minor league options (Miller, at least) and those returning from injury (Ohtani, Snell, Sasaki, Sheehan) plus the five starters currently in the rotation. That is ten starting pitchers. I was actually sitting here wondering what they will do if just three of Ohtani, Sheehan, Sasaki, Snell, and Glasnow come back. The bullpen seems like a more likely need although Kopech, Yates, and Henriquez are due back within a month and Graterol remains a possible return. Not to mention any excess starters who may transition to bullpen roles.
Cedric Mullins seems to be this year’s Luis Robert in trade rumors. With Pages improving in center and Edman able to play center and Kim/Hernandez at second when Edman is in center, I don’t see the need for Mullins. In fact, if there is a Pages injury or Conforto flatlines again (though he is showing some signs of resurgence), Edman/Kim/Hernandez would likely hold down center and Freeland can fill in at third, short, or second.
I am actually hopeful that this is a quiet deadline and the Dodgers are simply integrating injured pitchers onto their roster.

    1. Luis Robert Jr. and Cedric Mullins are similar…. and different
Robert Jr. was considered a top ten talent just a couple years ago, a young, fast gold-glove centerfielder who might produce a 40-40 season. He reminded me of Puig in his prime. But his game has gone into reverse. Any deal for Robert would be a gamble that his talent could be reclaimed.
Mullins, who like Robert plays a quality CF, is a former all-star who is having a solid season. His contract is expiring. If the Orioles wanted to keep him, they could have extended earlier. This is a lost season for the O’s, who are desperate for pitching. Dealing Mullins will help them reload for the future.

  14. Up until this last offseason the Dodgers have been caught flat footed due to pitching injuries . They didn’t have enough depth to take on the Madres in 22. Not enough in 23 to beat the Dbags. And barely enough last year thanks to pulling Flaherty out of their hat. This last offseason AF said, “ENOUGH!” So he went and took the old axiom to heart.
….you never have enough pitching…….He wanted a starting pitching depth chart 12 deep. So that’s what he did. And he’s been playing 4d chess with them perfectly this season. Pitching is so valuable he will continue to stockpile controllable kids with upside, not trade them for a rental. He would love to continue a new trend where a contender becomes the seller, al a Brewers and Tigers the last couple years. I wouldn’t put it past him to get an overpay for Outman. Checkmate!
    Oh and bravo Landon.
    Book em

    1. Yes, a lot of pitching depth….
But with the benefit of hindsight, it seems fair to ask if AF made the right choices.
At one point, Burnes, Cease and Glasnow were all on the market. The Dodgers wound up with the most injury-prone option….
Later AF signed Snell to a big contract. He pitched in two games before going on the IL….
And of course Sasaki, for all the hype, now appears to be an injured work-in-progress….
In an alternative universe, the Mighty AF might have dealt for Burnes or Cease instead of Glasnow; he might have signed Fried instead of Snell, and he might swung a deal for Garret Crochet.
Oh well. Dodgers remain in first place despite all the injuries.

      1. Hindsight is a benefit? You have a sense of humor don’t you. Don’t you?
        Book em

        1. Hindsight is a liability?
I always thought the idea is to learn from experience.

  15. Well, Muncy has broken out. His OPS is up to .749 – I think his OPS at the end of the year will be over .800, and in case you forget… an OPS of .800 is a distinction of an above-average hitter. A player who consistently achieves an OPS of over . 900 is often amongst the league leaders and is perceived as an excellent hitter. The truly elite, a select group, often hover or exceed an OPS of 1.000. Now, we wait to see if Conforto can be fixed.

    1. Max’s new specs seem to have really helped.
Over the past 30 days, Max’s OPS is .934. Later this season, he should pass Garvey on the LAD homer list.
FWIW, Bruce Bolt, maker of the popular and pricey Bolt batting glove, suggests that .750 is the average OPS.

  16. It goes to show the limited insight we, the fans, have on what goes on with these players. Many were ready to give up on Muncy, but thankfully the Dodgers don’t rely on the fanbase to make critical decisions.

    Go Dodgers!

    1. Ok. So Kike and Max have picked it up a lot since April. Next up –Conforto and Rojas

  17. Kudos to Max, Passing Garv, Penguin and Matty will be impressive.
    That 3A
stint in did wonders for Kim. I didn’t realize he won a GG at SS. Sadly, without a permanent position, no NL GG. Is there one for a utility player? That dinger he hit was hammered!

Looks like the Dodgers big 4 took the night off. 0 for 16, ouch. Max up to his normal average and homers. Pages could be a deserving all star.

    1. In Korea, you can win Gold Gloves for your hitting as well. The Gold Glove frequently goes to the best offensive player. His fielding% at SS is .954, while at 2B it is .978. He won his Gold Glove as a Utility Player, mostly playing 2B, SS, 3B and LF. He can play SS, but it’s not his best position.

Speaking of 2B, damn, Kike made a fantastic play last night.

  18. Contrary to Max Muncy, I have no opinion about Conforto and whether he will come around. I just believe his runway is to the 20th (or so) of June.

Miguel Rojas could be in danger of being cut after the All-Star Break.

    1. I think we’re riding with Conforto. We lack an internal upgrade and traded for someone brings uncertainty as well. One year deal, play him judiciously in postseason, maybe he gets hot. Like his patience, effort & attitude.

      1. He’s at least getting on base now. His OBP is .400 for the last 15 games.

    2. About 6 weeks ago, Roberts said it looks like Muncy has turned the corner.
About the same time Roberts said it looks like Conforto has unlocked something in his swing.
Conforto was at a lower level than Muncy and hasn’t improved as much but his BA is about 30 points higher than before.

  19. From MLBTR:

In an early morning deal, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mariners are acquiring southpaw Joe Jacques from the Dodgers. The return headed to Los Angeles is not yet known, though unlikely to be significant given Jacques’s status as a player on a minor league deal.

  20. DODGER MINOR LEAGUE STANDINGS 6/1/2025

Oklahoma City AAA 34-23 1st place 1.5 games ahead

Tulsa AA 22-29 5th place( last place) 5 games behind

    Great Lakes A+ 27-24 3rd place 9 games behind

    Rancho Cucamongo A 33-18 1st place 9 games ahead

ACL Dodgers Rookie 12-9 3rd place 4 game behind

  21. Rojas isn’t bringing much to the table right now other than his leadership, which is important. No speed, not much at the plate anymore. I think most of us thought he couldn’t repeat last year’s offensive numbers. with the emergence of Kim, and the versatility of edman, he may be taking up a spot that could be another outfielder. Should make a very solid manager in the future. … well Max seems to be “fixed “. I’m all in!!! Really, i don’t think anyone on this site hated Max, it’s more of , please don’t make so many errors! BUT, when he’s on, that swing is nice! And let’s hope he continues his hot streak! …. Yamamoto probably throws 7 innings of no hit ball next start. …. Another big new york series starts tonight. need 3out of 4! .. Hate the news about Corbin Burnes. seems like a great guy, not to mention a helluva pitcher. …. Boy did the A’S fall off the edge of the earth! Hopefully Kotsay isn’t made the scapegoat! ….i said earlier, Lovello might be the next one to get the axe. under performance will do that to a guy! …. Giants keep hanging around! Good starting pitching and a decent offense. good manager too. …. Yarbrough was amazing yesterday! he would be a big help right now for the dodgers. Junk pitchers are hell on the dodgers!… Could tell Aaron Boone has a bur in his drawers towards the dodgers!! Funny how that works. A little criticism after the world series, and he loses his sense of humor! …. It truly is the pinnacle of being a dodger fan! go blue!

  22. For Shoulda-Coulda-Woulda contingent who believe AF made the wrong choice with Glasnow, and shoulda gone for Burnes or Cease, understand, too, that acquiring either of those would have cost A LOT more than Ryan Pepiot.

Glasnow’s injury history was factored into his price, and AF, former Wall Street guy that he is, was getting someone with very high upside at a slightly depressed value.

Burnes is an ace with the track record of durability, but the thing is, there really is no so thing as a durable ace anymore. It’s only a matter of time. The frayed UCL fairy comes for all hard-throwing starting pitchers.

If you accept that reality, it’s smart not to invest too much in any single “workhorse” starting pitcher, because they don’t exist.

Better to assemble an expanded corps of really good pitchers you can plug and play as they go on and off the IL, and try to time it, hopefully, so your best are at full strength come playoff time.

Right now, in spite of injuries to Snell and Glasnow, it’s going to plan. The Dodgers are still in first. Even if those two are out for well beyond the ASB, if the team gets them back in time to stretch out and be fresh and peaking come playoff time, that’s really the best possible scenario.

I kind of agree with Duke that Crochet would’ve been a sweet get instead of Snell, but oh well.

    1. Yes, the cost for Burnes or Cease would have been higher than for Glasnow.
But it’s not like the Dodgers pinch pennies. (That said, the O’s gave up Joey Ortiz to get Burnes–and the Dodgers did not have a SS talent like Ortiz, who played one year at 3B and succeeded Adames at SS.)
To get Glasnow, the Dodgers also had to acquire Margot’s contract. Somebody around here insisted that Margot would play CF for the Dodgers but, of course, he was traded away. The notion that surgery had fixed whatever made Glasnow injury-prone was, I think, wishful thinking.
Anyway, would the Dodgers have been better off with Dylan Cease or Glasnow?
Glasnow, despite his injuries, set a personal record for innings pitched in 2024.
His 134 IP was just short of the 140 thrown by Gavin Stone, before injury bit him. Glasnow finished 9-6 with 3.49 ERA… So not bad at all….
Cease, meanwhile, led that Padres with 187 IP, compiling a 14-11 record and 3.47 ERA. He started 33 games to Glasnow’s 22.
Cease isn’t pitching as well this season–but he is pitching. He leads the Pads in starts with 12 and IP with 63 while compiling a 1-4 record and 4.66 ERA.
Before he went (again) to the IL, Glasnow had 5 starts and pitched only 18 innings. His record is 1-0 and ERA is 4.5. He remains on the IL.

  23. We all due respect to Pedro Martinez, we are the Yankees Daddy.

Gave em a token one last night….

  24. The upgrade to Conforto could already be on the roster – Kim. Instead of Edman at 2B and Conforto in LF, why not Kim at 2B and Edman in CF with Pages moving to LF?

    1. That would be my preference, although I think Pages, with his arm, is a perfect fit in RF. (I think Teoscar has said he strongly prefers RF, which isn’t ideal, bc he’s not a good defender. He’s better hidden in LF).

Kim has been great, but he hasn’t proven his offensive skills with a longer sample, and we know management prefers veterans on the playoff roster.

Kim is already mostly sitting against lefties, and a platoon at 2nd with Kike isn’t a bad option.

I think there’s time to wait and see what Conforto does. The Dodgers really signed him bc of his strong second half last year. If he does that again, maybe he stays and is an asset.

His continued presence in the lineup and in LF, though, really does put a kibosh on what I consider the ideal Dodger starting lineup.

      1. What I like about Kim’s progress is:

        1. It’s entirely predictable. The Dodgers org sees a flaw, player goes to minors to adjust said flaw (swing, offensive approach,) player and team see benefit.

        2. Was greeted so antagonistically and radically on messages boards (including, but not limited to, this one) people couldn’t believe he was sent down, people speculated he may never come around offensively.

He may need another stint in the minors, if pitchers adjust or find flaws, but the process is a good process. Has been for quite a while now.

        1. When we get to the playoffs we will need both Kim and Tommy Baseball in the lineup. Their speed and bat to ball skills are needed to make our offense the best it can be. If Mookie is healthy and is our shortstop I see Kim at second and Tommy in center. That leaves Teo and Pages in the corners and Conforto on the bench. Best offense and best defense. Assuming all are healthy.

        2. It’s kind of funny that Kim’s offensive skills are faulted because the sample is small. To fix that, we just need a bigger sample, don’t we?
And yes, Kim hasn’t faced lefties much.
He’s only faced one–and he hit a HR.
One AB is very small sample. Again, the answer is to give him more opportunity, not less. He should play full-time at least until Mookie is back.
Two hits today lifted his BA to .420.

  25. “Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 reports that the Mariners are sending right-hander Will Klein to the Mariners for Jacques. Klein was just designated for assignment by the Mariners a few days ago. The Dodgers will need to open a 40-man roster spot for him.
Klein has just 7 1/3 innings of major league experience, which all came last year. He allowed nine earned runs in that time. This year, he’s been in Triple-A and has posted a 7.17 ERA at that level with a strong 30.5% strikeout rate but also a massive 18.1% walk rate. That’s generally been his recipe throughout his minor league career”.

Betts (toe) remains out of the lineup for Monday’s game versus the Mets.

It’s the fourth straight start Betts has missed after he sustained a fractured left big toe. Per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, Betts ran the bases and went through fielding drills pregame Monday and hopes to return to action Tuesday. Hyeseong Kim is at shortstop and batting ninth for the Dodgers on Monday.

  27. 06/02/25 Los Angeles Dodgers designated RHP Chris Stratton for assignment.
06/02/25 Seattle Mariners traded RHP Will Klein to Los Angeles Dodgers for LHP Joe Jacques.

  28. SCOUTING REPORT
Will Klein has tantalizing stuff, with a fastball that can touch the triple digits but usually hangs out in the upper 90s. He pairs that with a power curve with downward movement and a slider, neither of which he can locate very well, partly due to a delivery that’s hard for him to repeat.

This is another typical AF trade. He has a very high upside!

    1. This could be a resounding flop or an amazing turnaround. It is capable of going either way.

      1. These guys are usually fun.
The Dodgers have a good track record improving relievers. Not always, but often.

  29. The Dodgers have also recalled righty Ryan Loutos. In a corresponding move ,right-hander RP Noah Davis was optioned to Oklahoma City.

  30. AF might be sorry for the 4 year contract of Tanner Scott. I’m really surprised that he signed him for that long a contract when he usually tries to find relievers internally, trades or the waiver wire.
