Shohei Ohtani Likely to Pitch in Playoffs
- Sometimes, someone has already written what I wanted to say (only better), and MLBTR has done exactly that. READ THIS PIECE ON OHTANI. It’s speculation, and it does not seem likely that he will start, but everything he does is unlikely. It’s possible he will not get 50-50 either…
- Mike Trout says he is open to discussing a move off of CF… to a wheelchair, I presume. I told you that would be a horrible contract. Guys built like tanks seldom age well.
- It turns out that the media (surprise, the stinking media?) was to blame when they posted that the “Dodgers Don’t Know Where Glasnow is.” They should have said, “Dave Roberts said he doesn’t know where Glasnow is.” It turns out Roberts lied… and under the circumstances, he did the right thing. Dave protects his players. Of course, the Roberts and Friedman haters loved to wallow in that swill… even for just a minute.
Dodgers Nation has a video entitled “Why Tyler Glasnow Left Team Revealed.” Feel free to watch it, and maybe you will see. Doug McKain must get paid by the word because he could have used 3 minutes to say what it took him 58 minutes on the video. Don’t get me wrong, this must appeal to some people … maybe people who have no life! I couldn’t watch it. I’m already too stupid to risk getting stupider! Let me know the reason.
- Top Dodger Hitters by BA: 1. Feduccia – .333; 2. Edman – .298; 3. Betts .297; 4. Rojas – .297; 5. Ohtani – .288; 6. Freeman – .280 The haters who dissed Miggy Ro’s offense are munching on crow!
- The was a lot of great defense last night. Kike Hernandez is a guy who is a baseball player and rises to the moment at any position. What a throw to the plate, and what a tag! That does show up in the box score and does nothing for your Fantasy Team.
- The Dodgers are second in MLB in Runs scored behind the D-Bags, who are #1, but 27th in ERA. Yikes! The Dodgers are 12th in team ERA but are within .38 ER of the top spot. There’s not much separation between the teams.
- As usual, your regular season stats mean nothing. It’s what you do when the playoffs arrive. It seems to me that back in 1988, the Dodgers were not expected to win. There weren’t any blogs that I know of back then, but had there been, the morons would have been losing their collective minds. Carry on! Let’s sweep the Marlins.
- The Padres are hot again (3.5 games behind), but the D-Bags are sinking at six games out… with just 12 to go!

The
listening to Doug McKain comment ” I am already too stupid to risk getting stupider ” might be your best line of the 2024 season
I don’t know whether that is a compliment or an insult! 😉
That was one heck of a relay Kike made!
Yes, and he had to turn completely around and throw.
I wondered how many others noticed that. If the ball had been to his glove side the tag & out would have been more obvious THOUGH, the throw was still pinpoint and Will’s tag was perfect. Love seeing an old time perfect defensive play
compliment sir …. sorry for the confusion
Either way: It was fine! 😉
To Thomas _
I knew you meant it as a compliment but you definitely can read it either way.
Casual banter at its best.
That was brilliant writing!
Definitely got a laugh.
The city of Ontario is stepping up to keep minor league baseball alive in California and the city has been inspired by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ontario City Councilman Alan Wapner has been working to bring a minor league team to his city for nearly 30 years, as described in a new report by Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times. According to the report, Ontario is finally on the brink of securing a team — one affiliated with the Dodgers, no less.
Wapner said the scoreboards in Ontario are designed to be hexagonal, similar to those at Dodger Stadium.
“We’re half-jokingly talking about a Union 76 ball out there,” he told Shaikin.
City officials announced that the Dodgers’ California League affiliate, currently the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, has agreed to move into the new Ontario ballpark, which is set to open in 2026.
RC was a quaint ballpark, but dated. Ontario would be a good choice as they have a new stadium. They built (or rather, are building it – it will open in March 2026) it and the Dodgers came.
I wonder if the Dodgers are also looking at leaving OKC. Albuquacky and some other PCL cities skew the pitching and hitting. I suggest they move to Indianapolis, but they have and agreement with the Pirates until 2030.
The Dodgers magic number to clinch the division s 9 with 12 games remaining 3 with Miami away, 3 with Colorado away,3 with Colorado home and 3 with San Diego home. .
LA’s magic number to clinch a playoff spot is 4.
There are lots of morons all over the blogosphere speculating on why and where Glasnow is right about now. What stupidity… when you so little information!
Step back and take a deep breath, morons.
There are some so-called fans who seem to think every little personal item about every player is their effing business. I don’t consider them fans they’re just a bunch of butt in skis.
Who cares where Glasnow is until 2025 when hopefully he will be pitching for us again?
Exactly
I don’t care where Glasnow is as long as he’s alive and kicking somewhere. And as long as his arm is still attached!
Is Glasnow done for the year ? I thought so. If the guy has something personal to attend to leave him the eff alone. That means he has a life. And maybe all the losers should get one too! I don’t need him on the bench cheerleading. He’ll be back on the bench soon enough.

On paper, we should kill the Marlins.
Of course, they don’t play the game on paper!
At least we have Bobby going against somebody with a comparatively crappy ERA.
Gavin Lux has a penchant for blowing very crucial plays! FACT!
… and he follows it up with a bad throw to 1B.
Not Clutch, Gavin Lux!
Miller is toast!
Bobby just needs to go away and come back next year!
Amen to that! He’s just painful to watch.
He should go find Glasnow.
;}
Im watching Bobby Miller pitch against the Marlins and it is agonizing. His eyes rolling, shoulders slouched , yelling and cursing into his glove. Man o man I feel bad for the kid, i hope he can pull it together. Maybe they should shut him down till next year and get him some help. Definitely not playoff ready. Hey didn’t Micheal Kopech start games for the White Sox ? ..
Amen!
Watching Miller pitch anytime is agonizing. Back to AAA and bring up Casparius.
Send him to Glendale…
No more time in OKC.
We sure are lucky that Sanchez is a horrible left fielder.
Who said he was a LF’er?
At this point, pitching injuries be damned, Bobby Miller should not make another start for LA this year. I do feel some sympathy for him. He was rushed to the majors last year out of necessity and pitched well. For whatever reason (shoulder injury, mechanics, lack of confidence, etc.) he is a mess right now. I am guessing Michael Grove gets sent down after this game. I could see keeping Miller in the rotation if he was able to give them 5 innings a start but he is digging a hole on the scoreboard and in the bullpen. I would be interested to know how many games the Dodgers have lost this year in service of giving starters like Buehler, Miller, and Kershaw major league time to get themselves “up to speed”. I know their hand was forced in many cases but, conservatively, I would guess 3-5 games plus the number of short starts they covered with a tired bullpen.
For the next two nights only, Go Astros!
Watched the end of the Padres / Asstros and it was great with Machado making the final out after Tatis struck out. They were gutted. Lovely to see.
Very encouraged by Buehler’s last start. Let’s hope he’s trending the right way.
Daniel Hudson is still struggling.
Padres lost Magic number reduced.
Cmon Knack big us a solid start today!!
Gonsolin anybody? could he actually be ready in time for october? Man oh man would that be great news! Yamamoto, Flaherty, Tony. Buehler/Clayton/Stone., pick one! If the bullpen isn’t gassed by playoffs it will be fine ! But that means no more Miller! There’s no way they can let him touch a mlb mound again this season! They may as well have an opener fill that spot. but isn’t that kinda what they’re doing now with Miller? Only thing is he’s not getting anybody out! It’s sad , but it’s not the end of the world. ….. Lux was not even close to sharp defensively last night. Hopefully we won’t see many lefties the rest of the season. …. i like Feduccia! who knows , maybe he is in LA. next season.
The Dodgers have 4 starters. Gonsolin is still getting ramped up. Kershaw and Stone not so much.
Game 1-Flaherty
Game 2-Yamamoto
Game 3-Knack
Game 4-Beuhler
Game5-Book em
supposedly Gonsolin looks good. scheduled for a rehab start this week. 5 innings from Tony in game 3? yeah i think the dodgers will be ecstatic! We need him! Knack has to pitch well tonight to bbe on the postseason roster. Just my opinion!
