This may be a revelation to some, but I do know how to read. I read what is on this blog and also on the LAdodgerChronicles blog. I still say that many of the commenters there are morons, and I am sticking to that. Jeff Dominique is very, very knowledgeable, and I read his stuff every day. It’s top shelf. I think highly of Jeff, and I recommend his site to any Dodger fan. I read the posts over there (well, not every day, but I read them yesterday). Most of the morons who ridicule me have no clue who I am. It is humorous to read their drivel:

I am disappointed that Michael Norris turned to the dark side, but he did what he thought he had to do. I appreciate his SERVICE and wish him well. I also immensely respect Jeff Dominique. I will continue to read there daily! I have never had a cross word with Jeff. In some small way, I hope I was instrumental in helping him get started in blogging.

I am tired of all the morons who constantly want to berate Friedman and Roberts. I have listened to it for ten years, and it is getting really old. I do not think Andrew Friedman and Dave Roberts are perfect. Of course, they make mistakes and will continue to do so, but the morons love to point out their mistakes ad nauseum. It’s like every decision made is criticized. These are hard decisions, all with their own trade-offs. There’s a probability of success and a probability of failure. People just immediately forget every decision they criticized that actually works. If it works, “the Dodgers got lucky,” and they can delete their own bad judgment from their memory. But if the decision fails, then the critics get to be the secret genius who knows more than one of the best front offices and managers in the game. It’s pathetic!
In that way, criticism is a defense mechanism from disappointment because it always feeds the ego of the shortsighted. When you’ve won as many games as the Dodgers have over the last ten years, just know the vast majority of their decisions have paid off, and the critics have been wrong the vast majority of the time (even if they don’t recognize it themselves). These petty little people are miserable in their own lives and want others to feel the same way.
I don’t buy into it and I will continue to call it out. I am disappointed that Michael Norris decided to leave and based it upon a lie. The lie being this:
I took offense to what Mark said about Jeff’s site. I do not think that we have morons posting over there. I just think Jeff is a very tolerant site administrator. But if things get testy, he nips it in the bud. And I also think it was a little too much of a slap in the face to a guy who used to contribute heavily to this site. Plus, Jeff is recovering from surgery. He hasn’t been able to sit up for any length of time for the last couple of weeks. I respect Mark a lot, but to me, he crossed a line criticizing Jeff’s site. After all, many of the people who post here, post there also. In my world, he owes Jeff an apology.
Feel free to leave, but don’t lie about it. Jeff’s site is linked at the top of mine (he does not do the same, but that is OK), and I said this yesterday:

So you can say: “I don’t like that you say mean stuff about some people.” But, don’t make up stuff that is not true. I read there and will continue to do so. I just don’t tolerate morons. I just usually don’t read the comments. This is the best time EVER, in the history of Dodger baseball to be a fan.

(blake snell decision excluded). … Could this be the last shot for Bobby Miller? I hope not because he has fantastic stuff! His, i believe is more mental now than physical. …. Walker is a man! Not blaming his struggles on anything or anyone other than himself! i hope he grts right. i want him in a dodger uniform for a long time!…. Finally , Doc . I’ve been skeptical of him at times over the years. But give the guy credit. i am! This may be his best job ever! Who knows what happens the rest of the season? That’s taking things a bit too far! Haha! Those that have moved to commenting on the other side have certainly not improved things over there.
As much as I like him, I have a hard time seeing the Dodgers signing Buehler to a long term deal even if he turns it around this year. Two TJ surgeries makes him a risk on a long term deal IMO with the other pitchers we will have next year. We could have as many as 9 starters next year in Yamamoto, Glasnow, Kershaw, Stone, Miller, Gonsolin, May, Sheehan and Knack. Unless he signs a 1-2 year prove it deal I think he will be pitching for someone else next year. I could see the team trying to re-sign Flaherty depending on what he asks for. I miss several posters but I do not miss the negativity and people who only seemed happy when thing went bad. I agree Doc has done a good job this year leading the team through all of the injuries. I do feel that he has a tendency to go too much based off of analytics or the script and not what he sees. Cash’s Snell decision is a prime example of managing too much to analytics.
Your list of starters omits that DH who also likes to pitch.
So that would be 10 starters–and likely a six-man rotation.
Unless he becomes a World Series hero, it’s hard to imagine the Dodgers trying hard to keep Buehler. This is especially true if Sasaki is on the market.
If Flaherty keeps pitching well, perhaps he’d give the Dodgers a “hometown discount.” Or maybe his old high school teammate Max Fried would want to come home to LA.

In a way, Buhler and Flaherty are now competing for a contract to stay with the Dodgers. One might get a good offer–but not both.
If Sasaki is on the FA market, he seems to be the priority. But guys like Corbin Burnes and Max Fried will be in play too.
But the Dodgers management could focus only on position players and be just fine.

Pages has the talent, but he’s in OKC now. Blame it on Keirmaier.
Let’s remember that Outman had a far superior rookie season, with a .790 OPS –about 100 points higher than Pages–and quality defense in CF. Outman is a streaky hitter and solid defender who finished 3rd in ROY balloting–but now he’s in OKC too.
With Mookie moving back to the OF, both Pages and Outman will have a tougher time cracking the roster next season, particularly if the Dodgers extend Teoscar.
And who doesn’t want Teoscar to stick around?

Now the reports are that Glasnow will be out longer than 15 days. Is this really necessary or is it just Dodgers management try to keep his workload down in preparation for the playoffs?
The news is much better for Yamamoto, as he seems to be progressing nicely. But the same question pertains: Are the Dodgers just doing some load management? We don’t want them sitting out for too long, right?
Their absence make create more starts for Buhler and Miller. But it’s Glasnow and Yamamoto who are getting the big bucks–and Guggenheim will want a big return for its investment.
So in terms of active pitchers, the Dodgers now have Kershaw, Stone and Flaherty–and Buhler and Miller, neither of whom have outpitched Knack. Such excellent depth. Assuming that Glasnow and Yamamoto come back healthy, which of the SPs make the postseason roster?
Right now, nobody is pitching better than Stone. But for the postseason, would management choose the hottest pitcher, or maybe the future Hall of Famer, or the guys getting the biggest bucks?

Jason Heyward is getting DFA for Chris Taylor
Very very surprised by this. Not saying its not the right move, just surprising.
Also surprised they are doing it so soon. Pinch hit home run, and then so what have you done for me lately.
On the other hand, it allows the Dodgers to have 2 quality CF’s as well as allowing Edman to play, SS or second base. Aside from pinch hitting, Heyward really didn’t have a position.
The decision has been made, but Heyward could play quality defense across the OF. And he’s definitely a weapon off the bench.
I hope we get more details about the how the decision was made, etc.
Hi Mark. I have been critical at times of what the Dodgers do and how they do it, but Dave Roberts and Andrew Friedman have no control over injuries, which has been the main problem that the Dodgers have had this season.
I think that this has been one of Roberts’ best managing jobs. You look at the patchwork rotation that they have had most of the season and the crazy injuries to the likes of Betts and Muncy and it’s a wonder that they have done as well as they have.
This team may be getting healthy at the right time of the season. The lineup is one that no one wants to face with the greatly-improved Gavin Lux and the return of Mookie and Max.
The rotation is another matter. No one knows if Yamamoto or Glasnow will be back and if so whether they will be as effective as before. Miller and Buehler look like lost causes this year. I thought that Stone had hit the rookie wall but he has looked much better the last 2 starts. Kershaw – well, I would never bet against him. Flaherty is a concern. He doesn’t throw nearly as hard as he used to and his breaking stuff has not been consistent since he’s worn Blue.
This has been an interesting season for sure, but not one that anyone predicted. They are playing good baseball again and the roster looks the best that it has since May. I think that it will come down to the health of the rotation.

My take on Mark’s lack of patience with the trolls or nay-sayers who pretty much always bash somebody or something and always are negative is this:
Mark puts a lot of time and passion into this site and wants well-thought out positions, discussions or observations. When you have people who are constantly negative, say stupid stuff, etc., – it irks him that people are in someway disrespecting him and the effort he puts into this site (this is my take, as I am projecting. Mark, I could be wrong and no offense meant).
Yes – I know Mark uses the word moron a lot (oh well). However, if you read this site, it doesn’t take long to figure out what lines of thought will invoke the terrible insult of being called a moron.
Yes – I know Mark has actually been “wrong” multiple times, but he, along with most of the others who post on this site own it.
Yes – Mark likes a good argument and the ability to agree to disagree – See the dialogue a few posts back between Bear and Mark on OPS, etc. on who should be batting 1st or 2nd. Both had valid arguments/beliefs on who would be best. Do I know which one is correct – NO IDEA!, but it was good intelligent baseball talk that the majority of us probably enjoyed reading and adding our two cents on to their researched positions.
I also know that there are “stupid questions” and “stupid observations” and those that post them maybe are trying to stir the pot (why – I don’t know), but some of them are very tiresome – AND YES, as Mark has stated many times – I don’t read them or gloss over them, fortunately, there are only a few posters who fit this category.
I do really appreciate the effort that all who post on this site have keep the politics (or other agenda’s) off of this site as it isn’t relevant to just associating with other Dodger fans.
Also, why people feel the need to continually to go back and highlight previous posts to prove somebody else wrong is beyond me (try that with your significant other and let me know how that works out).
Take Lux for example – I am willing to bet that not one of us was advocating to keep him and give him some more time to figure it out (including me and I was a huge advocate for him).
Looking back (especially if we win it all) we will be thankful that Mookie got hurt, otherwise, Lux probably would have been traded or benched.
I am also a Rams fan and must say that the 2-sites that I visit (Ramsondemand & laramsfans) are most of time unreadable due to the ads, formatting, etc.
You have to sift through a lot of posts to find any good takes, unlike this site.

With all respect, I’d say that Mark is often disrespectful to people who simply disagree with him.
I remember a long, long time ago when my mother asked me if I understood this phrase, often attributed to Confucius: “People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. ” I remember my aunt laughing when she asked the question.
I was so young that I didn’t understand it was a metaphor for my behavior.
Progress, for everybody, is not linear.
I think what some people misunderstand or wrongly assume is that their first amendment rights extend to the site. Mark owns this site. It’s his house. It is his call what’s acceptable and what’s not. Imagine if you were in his
house and some of the
stuff that was said on here was said to his face. He’d be well within his rights to tell you to get the f*** out of his house. No difference here. He could even have this site and have no comment section, it’s his call and nobody else’s.

I was a little surprised the Dodgers let Heyward go, especially after the game winning homerun the other night. I suppose the return of Mookie to right field made Heyward expendable and Taylor is versatile.
As to Buehler, I’m somewhat surprised that he hasn’t been better. After all, they were talking back about Buehler making a difference last fall. That never panned out and a year later he’s still not an impact pitcher. No idea why.

Heyward did a lot of community work in Chicago. And it continued after he came to the Dodgers.
I don’t what place he considers “home,” but his connections to the city had me thinking that he could have been included as a sweetener in a blockbuster with the White Sox, if such a deal came to pass–and if it made personal sense to Heyward.
He’s known as a clubhouse leader–and the White Sox probably need some of that.

Sad for Heyward! Happy to keep Kevin K. Hoping Chris Taylor earns his spot!! There’s a lot of swing and miss on that bench! Lot of quality defense on that bench too. Heyward brought defense and trust to the dodgers, he didn’t hit a lot though . i guess he can always say his last hit with LA was a game winning homer! … Friars took it on the chin again! Cease gave up only 2 run, but did get hit a lot , giving up 9 hits. Maybe the Friars pitchers are wearing down. …. Bobby Miller time. Let’s hope he lives the “high life “ tonight! If he and Buehler could pitch close to thei ability, that would be amazing. Also would allow for Glasnow to rest even more. I really believe thats all is IL time is all about, managing his work load. Triple-A: Shortstop Nick Ahmed, who was designated for assignment on Monday, cleared waivers and was sent outright to Oklahoma City. The veteran declined the assignment, and elected free agency.
