The Dodgers have been patient with Chris Taylor this year and FINALLY… he is coming around. That is good news! Well, now he is out… maybe for the season, which is likely bad news! This time last year, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers were in a bad place, and only a lunatic would have predicted they would make the playoffs—let alone play for the World Championship! Let that sink in for a moment! For every Lou Gehrig, there is a Wally Pipp. This is a crazy game…. and I love it!
Tyler Glasnow looked like he had not pitched for three weeks last night. Robbie Ray looked like he had not pitched for 460 days in the first inning last night and then proceeded to look like Sandy Koufax for the next four innings. I guess you have to win some and lose some. The Dodgers are still 7.5 games ahead of the Morons from San Diego and eight games ahead of the D-Bags.
It’s a very strong possibility that Miguel Rojas and Chris Taylor are done for the year. Flexor and groin strains tend to be on the really bad side. The Dodgers have to realize that. Maybe there is a bat in the system (Ryan Ward, Andre Lipcuis, et al.) that could fill in, but most likely, they will have to execute a trade. Gavin Lux and Kike Hernandez suddenly become vitally important. Nick Amed can pick it, so they have to hit it. The next three weeks will be challenging!
Today, at 1:10 PDT/4:10 EDT the G.O.A.T. takes to the mound in the final game against the Morons by the Bay. Tomorrow, it is off to see the Cheaters! My stepson and his wife will be here this weekend to spend three weeks with us… Of course, the fact that he lives in San Francisco, we have a lot to talk about! 😉 I have to confess that I have not worked much this summer – I will do better in the fall! Really, I will…
The Dodgers win five in a row and then lose a game, and the IDIOT MORONS just start trashing the team. It’s sad and hilarious! They just can’t help themselves… because they are idiots and morons. What do you expect?

Anyone going today to see the Kersh vs SF? Let’s link up!
I’ll assume this Ramirez fella is on his way out for Kershaw; thank you for your 2 good months, but no thank you for your last several appearances. Best of luck!
Wish I was going, should be good. Will be watching. Have a Dodger Dog and a Modelo!
To be honest, Ray may not have pitched in the majors in 460 days, but he has pitched in 10 games during his re-hab this year. So, he had pitched more than Glasnow has over the last three weeks. Roberts said last night on the post-game show that James Outman was on his way to LA, so they will need two roster spots. Ramirez and Taylor to the IL.
Dodgers signed starting pitcher, Jordan Lyles to a minor league contract. Lyles was released by the Royals back in April. Lyles was originally drafted and signed by Houston. He has spent time in the majors with the Astros, Rockies, Royals, Rangers, Padres, Brewers, Pirates and the Orioles. He has played in parts of 14 seasons. Career 72-107 record with a 5.22 ERA.
Can he play the infield?
Time to play Vargas at 3rd occassionally .
I always here games in July do not mean much anyway so what is to lose if he makes a few mistakes ? Biggio and Kike have made their share of errors there too .
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!1
Kike is not a very good third baseman, but he hasn’t played there much. He has played better there since he moved back almost to the outfield grass. He has 4 errors at third this year. Biggio also is not a natural third baseman, his best position is second base. He has 3 errors in 13 games. Miguel Vargas played a lot of third base in the minors, and frankly speaking, he was awful. He made 63 errors in 819 chances, that translates to a .925 fielding percentage. He had more errors than double plays. He is a liability with a glove at third, that is why they moved him to the outfield. July is almost over. You don’t want bad defense down the stretch, and that is where they are now. 59 games left.
Absolutely agree I think Vargas needs a chance at third base his bat is a lot better than Biggio and he has a plus arm.
Buehler (hip) said Wednesday that he will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
“Buehler added that he felt good following his bullpen session Tuesday, so he will now advance to facing minor-league hitters. The plan is for the 29-year-old right-hander to rejoin the Dodgers’ rotation once he’s made two rehab starts in Triple-A, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, putting Buehler in line to return sometime during the Dodgers’ early-August series against the Phillies”.
Bear,
That’s a good point on Ray.
But I’m still concerned with Glasnow,
Since the last week in May he has pitched to a 4.23 era.
Is it innings or injury?
He pitched tough yesterday, but could have been a lot worse without the 2 Double Plays
I believe he
Will be okay
I’m just not sure he will be the ace.
He will need another break for a couple of weeks , probably late august or early sept
If Outman is coming up I’ll be
Interested to see the other moves, that’s 5 outfielders.
Is Vargas going down and a AAA infielder coming up OR
Is Vargas going to play some 3rd base
But I’m still concerned with Glasnow,
Since the last week in May he has pitched to a 4.23 era.
Is it innings or injury?
He pitched tough yesterday, but could have been a lot worse without the 2 Double Plays
I believe he
Will be okay
I’m just not sure he will be the ace.
______
Well said, agree 100%.
Said so on another blog only to have a certain Bear accuse me of kicking Glasnow down .:-)
Would hate to lose DePaula in a trade. Power is coming more and more to complement his superior eye at the plate. Only guy I would consider giving him would be Skubal.
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn’t even give him up for Skubal, but I’ll admit that might be a pretty dumb position to have.
After all, the kid’s just turned 19, is performing nicely in A+, doesn’t k a huge amount and will take a walk. His OBP in his two pro years is at almost .400 and he’s starting to develop some power.
Therefore, I’m keeping him no matter what.
And yes, I realize a prospect is only a prospect until………………………………
parades over prospects. That is where I see the Dodgers at the moment.
BTW, anybody knows what is going on with Joendry Vargas ? Has not played at the ACL in over a week now and has not been promoted to RC either.
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!
Guys, Completely Agree on Depaula, he is special.
He needs to get better defensively, hopefully he can stick in LF.
This kid won’t turn 20 until May of next year. He could Literally be playing at AA Tulsa as a 20 yr old by the 2nd half of next year.
Dodgeram,
I agree on Glasnow
Career:
G :146
W-L: 38-33
ERA: 3.82
IP:643.2
SO:825
WHIP:1.16
He is very good with electric stuff, but he is not an ace.
There is a guy with Detroit that has better career numbers than Glasnow and is pitching like an ace this year and he is 2 yrs younger then Glasnow
Jack Flaherty
As a rental the cost will still be high but nowhere near the other 2 top pitchers mentioned.
And if he does well, who knows next year with all the injury concerns coming back
But Depaula, Stone, Ryan and Wrobleski would not be trade options.
Dodgeram,
You know
Bear can be a Bear sometimes but his intentions are good and he has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to Dodger baseball.
And he will wear it when he is wrong.
Now Mark on the other hand .
LOL
For me ,
they keep the discussions lively and we all try to do it in a respectful way sometimes.
We all are getting better.
Go Dodgers !!
Thanks NJ. I try my best to be as honest as possible. I just do not live in a fantasy world when it comes to making trades. Especially ones that make no sense or cost the Dodgers a ton of talent. I base a lot of what I say on what I have seen from Freidman since he took over. Come over to LADC sometime, we would love to hear your views.
First move, Yohan Ramirez DFAed, Kershaw activated. Dodgers have an interest in Rich Hill per MLBTR
I’m probably in the minority here but I’ve never viewed Glasnow as an ace.
The reports about the Cubs scouting the Dodgers’ farm system have become more interesting with Taylor joining Rojas on the IL.
Nico Hoerner would be a great fit, able to play both SS and 2B. Lux + ?? might do the trick for Hoerner. Hoerner probably could also play 3B if needed.
Ian Happ would be a solid upgrade in the OF, but Arozarena and Robert are more exciting options.
Glad to see Outman have a fresh opportunity. Unless the Dodgers land Robert, Outman could be a platoon partner for Pages in CF. He certainly seems to be the best defensive CF on the roster.
Pages has been great against lefties, producing a team-best .338 BA and .861 OPS. But against righties, a .222 BA and .642 OPS.
I’m not sure what the rap is on Ryan Ward. But in OKC, he’s been hitting righties to a 1.011 OPS. For the season, he’s batting .289 with 26 HRs, which I think leads the league. If Ward was a good defender, I assume we’d have seen him in LA by now.
But as things shake out, perhaps he could get chance…either in LA or with a trade partner.
Keep Lux. IMHO he has turned the corner and would be a valuable piece for us down the stretch and playoffs.
I still think we do not need both KIke and CT3 on the postseason roster. Lux being LH gives us more options.
It should be not Lux for Hoerner but Hoerner for ?
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’d love to get Hoerner but I think it would probably take Lux plus one of our young pitchers. Maybe they would take Sheehan since they aren’t going anywhere this year so wouldn’t need him until 2025.
Happ is also interesting, especially since he’s a switch hitter who can also play 2B and 3B besides the outfield. He is two years older than Arozarena, though, and his salary is quite a bit higher.
I’m a big Outman fan. I love his attitude and hustle, but I don’t expect to see him in the organization next year. I think they may have brought him to LA because the other MLB cities have better flight connections from here than they do from OKC. 🙂
How about Hoerner and Bellinger for Freeland, Knack and Cartaya ?
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Cody is owed 30 million for each of the next 2 years, plus he can opt out after this year. That’s a crazy contract for AF to be burdened with. If he’s good he leaves and if he’s not very good we owe him 60 million.
No thanks.
I’d probably do Knack and Cartaya for Hoerner but I’m not sure the Cubs would.

Dodgers, Yankees Interested In Rich Hill
Bring back Dick Mountain!!!
Absolutely not….why on earth would they do that? Love the guy but we have rookies that are much better than him at this point. He’s been pretty bad for a few years now and hasn’t pitched all year. I have a hard time believing he could be a difference maker.
ONly if they intend to trade some of our young pitching in a blockbuster for Skubal or Crochet and Hill eating some innings.
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw him eat an inning for the Padres against the Dodgers in San Diego. They scored 7 runs off of him in the blink of an eye, Dude is 44 , so no thanks.
Great clubhouse guy, veteran, knows how to win. Yeah Id take a flyer on.
And waste a roster spot? Not a chance. He is not the pitcher he was.
This could lead to a major bidding war. I think we could wrap him up for 20 mil.
And if we sign him we don’t need Skubal or Crochet.
In other news, Yohan Ramirez has been DFA.
FINALLY!!!!!!!
Dodgers designate Yohan Ramírez for assignment
Can’t say the guy wasn’t given every chance in the world to succeed!
Our long national (Dodger) nightmare is over.
Non Dodgers related but Cease throwing a no hitter through 8.
He completed the no hitter.
Mason Miller placed on the IL with a broken pinky finger.
Correction, broken hand. No way he gets traded now.
Taylor placed on 10-day IL. Outman activated.
Kersh is getting hit hard today
Yet he has 5 k thru 3. Very odd
What is AF doing signing guys like Ahmed and lHoneywell?!!!!
Saving us some losses?
Well, here is why. He is a gold glove SS. His defense is as good if not better than Rojas. He has some power, which he showed off today. Honeywell has not given up a thing since they got him. He also got the save today. Ahmed, well he stuck it to the Giants, who released him two weeks ago. Today’s HR was Ahmed’s 9th career homer in Dodger Stadium. Honeywell has pitched 8 innings, given up 4 hits, and walked no one with 5 strikeouts. That is what AF is doing signing guys like that. I bet you said the same thing last year when they got Brasier. Leave the personnel decisions to the guys who know what they are doing. They have more information on these guys that we could ever have.
Sarcasm alert!
lol read the room guy
Yeah, I got your sarcasm, funny how the others didn’t.
My sarcasm alert switch was off.
Keith Law out with his revised Top 60 Prospects.
DePaula moves up to 14.
Rushing moves up to 31.
He expects Rushing to be traded in the next few days.
I would rather trade Cartaya myself. Left-handed power hitting catchers are hard to find.
Wow, DePaula is the 14th best prospect in the game??
At this point Rushing has far more trade value than Cartaya, so you could trade Diego instead but you wouldn’t get as much back.
And that makes Rushing a more valuable trade chip….
As I’ve mentioned before, I hope Rushing gets some training at 3B. The catcher and first base jobs are locked up for the next few years. With Smith as the incumbent catcher, it may make more sense to keep Cartaya as a backup/successor and deal Rushing for a bigger return. (Dealing both could make sense too; backup catchers can always be found.)
And now with Arozarena off the market, I wonder if AF is preparing the package for Robert and Crochet….
Rushing + Pages + Knack + ??? + ….
When was that last true blockbuster? This could top the Scherzer-Trea deal.
thank goodness doc doesn’t decide who stays and who doesn’t! He probably would have kept Ramirez and shipped Honeywell ou!!! ….. Clayton wasn’t real sharp, but his curve was money!! Pages completely misplayed that ball in the 1st. probably not a centerfielder. down the road. .. Amed ? yes. Biggio? no!!
Top 7th
Defensive Sub
Defensive Substitution: Jake Vogel replaces left fielder Josue De Paula, batting 2nd, playing right field.
Defensive Switch
Defensive switch from right field to left field for Luis Rodriguez.
I hope this is nothing more than giving Depaula a rest as the Loons are getting pounded tonight in the 7th
You mean rather than putting him on a flight to Detroit or Chicago?
I hope so too.
Yes exactly
D’backs have just traded for AJ Puk.
Gave up their #14 and #30 prospects.
We could have had him and he’s been great ever since they stopped starting him earlier in the year and put him back in the bullpen. Sorry we let this one get away. He has 2.5 years of control remaining.
The Dodgers are not going to carry 3 LHP in the bullpen and Yarbrough is the long man. so would have gotten rid of Vesia or Banda?
His lifetime splits aren’t horrible against righties so there might have been room for him and although Banda has been very good since he’s been here, Puk has a better track record.
Maybe it’s time to make Honeywell the long man and see what we can get for Yarbrough, although admittedly a very small sample size for Honeywell.
Long story short, AF was probably thinking along the same lines you are and that’s why AJ won’t be in Dodger Blue.
Just a thought. When the Dodgers starters get healthy and built up and hopefully no more major injuries, we will have a glut of young very good pitchers. In the playoffs a team needs four starters. My guess is some of the young studs that don’t make the top four will be considered for the bullpen in the playoffs. Buehler is pitching Friday at OKC, our bullpen could be nails come the playoffs. That is why we don’t need to waste capital on pitchers like Puk. If we go the rest of the season with a six man rotation or have players skip a start now and then come October you ride the pitchers who are on a roll. Bobby Miller coming out of the pen if his control woes are overcame would be great for the Dodgers as would Buehler etc. Grove looked great at OKC last night.
Would you guy’s consider trading for the Cubs pitcher Jaimeson Taillon?
I would. I’d like Tanner Scott from the Marlins too.
Rays traded Arozarena to the Mariners for Aidan Smith, Brody Hopkins and a player to be named later. Both are low A prospects. # 12 and # 22 prospects for the Mariners. Apparently LA did not really want Arozarena. They could have easily matched or beaten that offer. Guess we will have to see what AF has in mind.
Go get Brett Rooker and Mason Miller from the As. And if they could get Hornier and Bellinger from Cubs do that improve the outfield with Teo heennandez Bellinger and Rooker and get Mason Miller as closer. And get this as a starter they get Jack Flarethy the LA kid comes home. Other moves I like to see Vlad Guerrero fo be the first baseman with the Giants. Jessie Winkler to the Braves. And Ryan McMahon and Jazz Chrisom to the Yankees. Erik Fedde to the Brewers and Max Scherzer to the San Diego Padres. See if any of these trades happen
Mason Miller broke his hand and most likely is out for the year. Giants do not need a first baseman. Wade is hitting over .300 and leading the National League in OBP. Bellinger is also still on the IL with a broken finger. Hoener might be a nice addition, but who are you going to trade away and where will he play? It looks like Rojas might be done for the year too. So, either Mookie goes back to SS, or you slide him in at second, and let the gold glover, Ahmed stay at SS. As long as he hit’s around .250 and gets on base, he is an asset with his great defense. I could see Winker going to the Braves. They are definitely searching for outfield help. McMahon will not be traded, and I explained to you the reasons why many times. The Rockies owner loves the guy, he is his favorite player. Chisholm? They don’t need an outfielder. Yankees need pitching and a first baseman. Scherzer has a full no-trade clause in his contract. He does not want to go anywhere but Texas right now. Dodgers need at least one good hitting outfielder. Robert Jr. is probably the target with Arozarena off the market now, but he will cost a lot, and his injury history makes him a huge risk.
It is not his pitching hand. Miller will keep throwing bullpen sessions and they think he will be back rather sooner than later.
But not sure the Dodgers will pony up the necessary prospects to get him. Tanner Scott would be my choice.
Bit shocked the Rays got so little for RA in that trade. Two low A ball kids plus a PTBNL.
Seems the Dodgers really are all in with the WS for Crochet and Robert jun. as is reported on many sites.
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Robert Jr at this point is an upgrade defensively only. Crochet wants an extension before he pitches in the playoffs. Doubt very seriously the Dodgers agree to that or the price for these two guys. Crochet guarantees nothing. He has never even pitched in the post-season. Robert Jr played in 3 games in a series. He is over the most innings he has ever pitched. He would have to have an innings limit almost every start and that is going to strain the pen. But I am not running the team and have no idea which way they will lean. I think they will take the best deal available. Which Sites? I have seen that they have interest, but so do the Orioles, Yankees, and a couple of other contenders. They are not going to just take what LA offers. They are going to get the biggest haul they can. Depends on how bad the break is. Catching with a broken hand that is not fully healed is very painful. I know that from experience. By any means, he won’t be back for at least six weeks or more. Too late to be traded.
Why you always harping on that ” no guarantees”. Everyone knows that but if everybody would follow that lead there would be no trades at all. You make a trade to improve your chances.
Crochet and Robert jun. would do that.
Crochet certainly has not improved his trade value for the WS with his demands.Lol.
Looking how little the Rays got back for RA I see a good chance the Dodgers could at least get Robert jun. for a much lower package than what is discussed here and on other sites.
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!
