I am sick of this…

I don’t mean to make this your problem… it’s my problem, and I can solve it by just shutting down this site… which I may do… again! I don’t need this shit! I have assholes like Eric Hinterleitrer, Hondo, and Blind Joe Death (aka Original Dodgerman and about 15 other monikers) who are stalking me, and why? You will have to ask them, as their heads are so far up their asses that they are legally blind, but other than that, they are rabid dogs coming after me.

I have reported this to the FBI Cybercrimes Unit, but I do not live in fear. I have a great life and I do not need this. I publish this blog for you (other Dodger fans) and my love of the Dodgers. I can shut down this site and just go on with my life. Maybe I should do that…

Advice?

This article has 100 Comments

  1. Yeah Mark. My advice is to block these tool bags from your site. When I started following Dodgertalk around 2015 or so it was very organic, with true passionate EDUCATED baseball fans who knew the game and would chime in with their remarks , win or lose. The last few years I have seen way too many haters posting about how the Dodgers suck and of course, fire Roberts., which to me automatically loses credibility because we all know Doc don’t swing the bat or pitch the ball. Short sighted as hell. The thing that really bothers me is how many guys go after you in a toxic and negative way , that blind Joe DoucheBag idiot has got to go, nothing but hate and negativity come from his mouth,, he loves to stir up shit.ive been pretty silent the last few years, been dealing with some life stuff with my family, but I’m back, and count me as one who has your back. Dude, do us all favor and take out the trash on this site and 86 some of these assholes. We don’t need em, and don’t want that toxic crap that they talk.

  2. Please ignore the haters. Your blog is one of the highlights for us true Dodger fans.

  3. Really? Again? Man, if you’re reporting this to the FBI Cybercrimes Unit either this is becoming a threat to you physically or you are really getting sick of people who you don’t agree with you. I honestly don’t understand why someone who has different, even extremely different views than you causes you such angst but if that’s the case you should (once and for all) shut it down, especially if they are physically stalking you. You’ve shut this site down before you can do it again.
Then again, I enjoy reading what all the “experts” have to say about the Dodgers, I’m 80 years old and went to Dodger games at the Coliseum but that doesn’t make my opinion any better than anyone else’s. Fire Roberts? DFA CT3? Only play Outman against righties? Leave pitchers in longer? Never trust Kelley? Pages is a 5th outfielder? Who knows? Who cares enough to let views you don’t agree with cause you ANY level of discomfort? As my (wiser than me) 54 year old son would say–“that is a first world problem”.
Although I enjoy and get some comic relief from some of the old boys that think they have more intellect than the rest of use, I really don’t think it’s worth all the soap opera drama is causes on an all too regular basis. I think you should shut it down Mark and get on with your family. work and life.

    1. Have to agree with stevied. If you can not get rid of the them permanently and if it bothers you that much, shut the site down for good and do not open it again.
would be a hard day for some of us but if your life is better with it than do it and don´t look back. This back and forth with closing it , opening again does no good. Not for you and not for your regular posters.

However one additional thing to consider: If you like to talk about the Dodgers with other fans you probably will look to other blogs or forums that are run by other persons. There too you very likely will encounter posters who do not share your point of view and that could lead to fighting and words exchanged. Maybe better to face those characters on your own platform.:-)
Take care, whatever you decide to do.

      Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Mark there are a few good true Dodger fans that appreciate LADT,weed out the bad apples, and keep up the great work.

    1. I agree with Ohiododger. I think the blog is as good as good as it has ever been. I think you do a great job and have the best comment section anywhere.I enjoy LADODGERTALK more than any blog.

  5. Just FYI Mark – My last comment in your previous article was in response to Bear’s last comment and not to anything you wrote about the trolls stalking you.

  6. It is simple Mark, ban them period. Scott let stuff like that get out of hand and his site went to shit and he gets virtually no posters. You are a true fan, and when I was writing for your site, I saw that kind of crap all the time. People are awful brave from cyberspace. Face to face, most would be cowards. I am sure you have visited Jeff’s site. He nips that stuff right away and will not tolerate it. You should do the same. You like I, do this out of love for the game and the team. If they can’t post, they won’t get under your skin. I used to get extremely frustrated with Bradley, and he accused me more than once of picking on him. It wasn’t that I was picking on the guy, it was simply because some of his trade ideas, and players he felt the Dodgers should get were so out there and unrealistic, I had a hard time believing he was being serious. Even after I would mention most of the reasons they would not happen. You run a great site, do not let a few discontented people ruin it for you. I have never claimed to know it all, but I have some baseball knowledge and a love of the history of the game, that is why I started writing. I felt I could contribute something while keeping my aging mind active. You have a business and a family that are important to you. Baseball and the Dodgers are your outlet. Don’t let some idiots take that from you.

    1. I don’t even really grasp what the situation is, but Bear is right. Scott’s blog went to shit because people just alienated the “regular” people who post with inane comments.

  7. Don’t shut the site down. It’s too important to a lot of individuals who follow the Dodgers. Weed out the assholes. I’m sure technically there is a way of doing so. Also to ease your burden, you don’t have to post a new blog every day. Just leave the comments section open. This is my opinion, but it’s your ultimate choice.

  8. When people make personal attacks just block them. U know who they are just do it. On the other hand people who don’t like a post can be very rude. It is their opinion and are entitled to vent if it is not personal. I read for a long time but quit posting because there was no engagement. It was like if your not in the inner circle you were ignored. I am not the biggest Robert’s fan but so what. It is my right to disagree and it is your right to support him. I also have days when Friedman is the enemy because he provides the players. But I know it is a great time to be a Dodger fan and I thank Friedman for that.

  9. OK, I slept on it and got a few e-mails from fans on LADT and others and I am not going to let the inmates run the asylum! I am not afraid of them – they should be afraid of me!

Thank you for your kind words, and keep reading, my friends. Blocking them is a little trickier as one has gone to the expense of masking his IP address and generating a new IP address each time he posts (he is evidently a pro at this) but I will handle it. I have a plan, and they won’t know what happened until it’s too late.

I have no problems with fans like Therealten, who disagrees with me frequently; he states his opinion and does not make it personal. I like and encourage that, in fact.

I have deleted a lot of posts that were insanely vulgar. You would not believe it, but if you read them, you would understand why I called them morons. “Moron” was a compliment compared to what they called me. I think Bear and a couple of others have read them.

I will have a new post coming out tomorrow.

    1. Thank you for all the hard work you put into this valuable Dodger site. Us true Dodger fans are appreciative of your efforts, knowledge and will continue to comment in a civil manner without any personal attacks. This is suppose to be a relief from everyday bullshit we all face. Hopefully we can keep it that way. As I suggested in a prior post, you don’t have to post a new article everyday, just leave the comment section open until a new article appears.

    2. Shut the site down if you are unable to tolerate different opinions or being attacked after you attack. Your health is more important at your age. There are numerous other blogs out there. Also, with VPNs, unlimited email accounts, etc., you can’t truly block anyone using these tools.

    3. Mark, when I was writing for you and had access to the WordPress homepage, I deleted a lot of negative stuff before it ever hit the site. I felt these posts were just trying to get under one’s skin and not contribute anything positive. You are doing a great job and I appreciate it very much.

  10. From Bill Plunkett of the OC Register:

Austin Barnes led off the eighth inning against former teammate Yimi Garcia by working a 10-pitch walk. Mookie Betts doubled with Barnes going to third. After Ohtani popped out, the Jays intentionally walked Freeman to load the bases.

Teoscar Hernandez struck out before lefty reliever Tim Mayza came in to face Muncy. Muncy sent another long drive toward the outfield wall. Varsho caught this one with a little jump at the wall in right-center field.

“Felt good. Hit it good. Just hit it too high,” Muncy said. “I think it was a 42-degree launch angle. It’s tough when you get that to the center part of the field. Good at-bat. Got a pitch to hit. Can’t really say I missed it. Just hit it too high.”

    Freeman offered a different critique.

“Max needed to do one more bicep curl today,” he joked.

The Dodgers have now gone 4 for 27 (.148) with 13 strikeouts with the bases loaded this season.

  11. But, Daulton Varsho and George Springer robbed the Dodgers of potential extra-base hits four times Sunday as the Toronto Blue Jays handed the Dodgers a 3-1 defeat, snapping the Dodgers’ six-game winning streak.

    1. Yeah, I kind of think of this loss as a moral victory.
Can’t win ’em all–and the Dodgers played well. Just tip the cap to the team that played better.
Gausman, the Jay’s ace, was on his game, while the Dodgers were relying on their bullpen. Yarbrough really came through, again.
Statcast reportedly had rated Shohei’s first-inning drive as having a .910 likelihood of a hit–but Varsho caught it. And Springer’s catch was more amazing still. Anyone know how Statcast rated Pages’ drive. And Max came oh-so-close to a slam.
Also, I don’t recall any costly defense. Both Outman and Teoscar made good hustle plays to keep hitters from taking 2B. The Lux-Mookie-Freddie double play was nice. So was Grove’s pick off….
The pick-off of Pages was not so nice. Call it a learning experience.

  12. Mark-

The other S.Murphy here. I’m glad you slept on it and decided to keep this site open. With my kids being out on their own now (relatively new empty nest syndrome ) baseball is something the wife and I have really gotten into. Where I periodically looked at your blog over the past number of years this past year and a half has been almost a daily read one that I find very valuable and not only as to the insight on what’s going on within the Dodger club- but looking at who’s coming up through the minors. It’s expanded the depth of understanding and appreciation for the entire game.
Old Bear really said it best that individuals like the ones you are mentioning can be really brave behind the keyboard, in the real world not so much.
This been your outlet for many years and this year will be something special. Whether we go the full distance or not it’ll be one that you definitely want to be on top of throughout the season, especially as we get into the playoffs.
    Cheers-

  13. Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Confirms ‘No Level’ of Concern For Tyler Glasnow After Leaving Game Early

Glasnow is expected to be on the mound next weekend and continue his dominant season. Through seven starts, the right-hander has a 5-1 record, 2.72 ERA, 53 strikeouts, and a 0.93 WHIP in 43 innings.

  14. This is the best Dodger site, period end of sentence!

Dont go anywhere Mark. As someone else said if you shut it down THEY win.

Lets get a win in the Desert tonight.

  15. Sunday Dodger Minor League Scores

  17. A lot of these conflicts here Mark you start and feed yourself, I wish you’d give that some thought but I thank you for doing this site and hope you keep it going. I do enjoy it most of the time

    1. You may think that because you don’t see the posts I delete. I never call anyone a moron that doesn’t call me worse first!

        1. Dude, piss off. go be a gadfly somewhere where they might actually want you. Oh wait,……. Never mind.

          1. That last part I said was a sincere comment because Michael hit the nail on the head. I meant nothing bad about the last sentence. I’m done.

        2. You keep saying you’re done but you keep coming back whining about Mark being mean to you. Just take the hint and go away for good.

  18. The Athletic named 20 prospects who were off to fast starts.
    https://theathletic.com/5456544/2024/04/29/underrated-minor-league-prospects-matt-wilkinson/?campaign=5888993&source=dailyemail&userId=147501

    One Dodger was named:

Jared Karros, RHP, Los Angeles Dodgers (not ranked): Jared may currently be known nationally as Eric Karros’ son, but he’s been making a name for himself in the Dodgers’ system. A 16th-round pick in 2022 out of UCLA, Karros spent most of last season in Low A but finished the year with three impressive outings for High-A Great Lakes. He’s picked up where he left off last year with the Loons, posting a 2.70 ERA in 20 innings with a 25:2 K:BB.

Karros isn’t overpowering (sits in the low-90s), but he gets good extension with his 6-7 frame and he pairs his fastball with a big 12-6 curveball. His command and control are both above-average, giving him a chance to be a backend starter in the big leagues. Karros, 23, is likely to get a test in Double A by midseason.

  19. You’ve called me me a moron and I never called you anything other than disagreed but I don’t want to argue man I promise

    1. Michael,

It might have been in response to this post of yours:

I used to let some of the dumbass things Mark has to say get me so angry and more so that he refuses to hear anything from another point of view and if you don’t see it his way your a idiot moron but I learned quick letting that anger fest up in me wasn’t somewhere I wanted to be. I can definitely understand how hondo and others feel like they do. On another note just how good a team do we have. Don’t believe a super team keep hearing people say. But not real far off. Gosh I can’t wait for spring to get here.”

      Just Sayin….

  20. Here’s where anyone loses all credibility with me:

When they say Friedman is an idiot.

You don’t have to like him. He is not perfect. He makes mistakes, but if you don’t understand that he is one of the best in the business, you have zero sense!

  21. Glad you’ve decided to keep the site going Mark. Life is keeping me busy these days and rarely have time to post, but reading your site is part of my daily routine.

Personally, I ignore the posts of the trolls spreading the hate and discontent, but I realize as owner of the site it is not as simple for you. Whether you keep the site open or post on other blogs, the sad reality is that you’re gonna have to deal with them. I believe you can better dictate the outcome on your site. As you can handle it on your terms.

My recommendation, as several have already suggested, is to ban all trolls. Trust your instinct. I think you can easily spot them and don’t need anyone’s permission to do so. Continue to prescreen everyone. If trolls lie about who they are in order to get around you, that can become evidence you can use against them if the matter escalates. Unless you plan to cease having an online footprint, you’re stuck dealing with them. Might as well do so when you’re in control.

Hang in there Mark. Don’t let a few bad apples spoil the whole batch. You have a good thing going here.

  22. Mark –
It is an unfortunate fact of life that a few can ruin the experience of many.
As a small-time contributor and everyday reader it is easy for me to say don’t let the bastards win. That said if it has gotten bad enough that you reported it to the FBI – all I got to say is WOW, how did something started with such a narrow focus (i.e. Dodgers) where the majority of us are all civil and very thankful for this site get to this point.
As always the answer comes back to the few who like to stir the shit and be contrarian and stupid just because they can.
The fact that one individual actually changes his VPN, email etc just to post to this site to post his diatribe is beyond pathetic!!
It is almost sad that he has nothing in his life better to do, like donate his time and effort to some cause he may find worthy.

I don’t usually make any comments about myself or my experiences, but in this case I would say “Maintain the moral high ground”.
While deployed in a combat zone it was the motto I stated everyday to my troops – it is something to strive for and sometimes not achieved – but it was a goal. I still get occasional emails from some of them when they see that statement somewhere.

Basically don’t lower yourself to somebody else’s level – it isn’t worth the costs of who you are and what you believe in.

I know that this blog is a definite passion of yours that the rest of us truly enjoy.
If there is someway to block some individuals without too much effort then I would encourage you to do so (the good of the many over the good of the few 🙂 – not my quote:)

Now back to the regular broadcast!!
Grove just cannot escape giving up the homerun!
Pages looks great – will be interesting to see how the league responds to him and vice-versa.
The observations seem correct – Ohtani does seem to get a bit undisciplined when runners are on – something that should be easily correctable (maybe trying too hard to prove his worth and once the season goes further along this issue goes away).

    1. 1. Grove is not a starter. He thinks too much when he is, and that gets him into trouble. He is a bulk-inning long man and may not be on the playoff roster.
      2. On Pages: Yes, it is a game of adjustments. It will be interesting to see how he responds.
      3. Ohtani is pressing with RISP. Unlax Doc

  23. “Don’t be distracted by criticism. Remember, the only taste of success some people have is when they take a bite out of you.” Zig Ziglar

  24. Mark,

Thanks for keeping the site active.

don’t let the Twitter Tough Guys get to you. It’s your site, show the stupid people the door.

    a suggestion ….
anyone writing a post including profanity should be blocked immediately.

I am dying here in S Florida watching the Marlins. Who has more wins by May 31 … Marlins or Glasnow ?

  25. Maybe you should have someone else read the replies to your articles first. Like an editor for your side of things. You can have them delete the replies that are personal attacks. It would almost act as a delay for you. Sure the back and forth might take a bit longer but it could work. Have him or her leave replies that are a blessing to you, the site, and us.

  26. Agree with those who say to block the A holes. Even if they hide their address you can identify them by the content of their posts.

I have never been offended by anything that you have posted. I enjoy your take on the Dodgers and the colorful language doesn’t bother me because I don’t believe it was ment to be mean or vindictive.

  27. On another topic I look for the Giants to make a run and finish second. If they get Snell back and pitching like he is capable and Webb, Hicks, Harrison they will be formidable. There lineup is better and the cf is a heckuva defender. Of all the teams I wish they would not have gotten Snell.

    1. We need to get our pitchers healthy
    2. Ohtani has got to do a better job of staying in the strike zone with runners on.
    3. Hitters need to improve contact against playoff pitchers. Idk if they can but that will derail us in the playoffs
    4. Lux has got to improve offensively
    5. If Heyward comes back pages may be the cf. outman back to the minors to get his stroke

  28. Every website I follow (both paid and unpaid) now employ full-time moderators to delete toxic posts and ban repeat offenders. It seems to be an unfortunate but necessary practice. This is my favorite Dodger’s blog and I read it everyday. Eliminate the troublemakers and let’s talk Dodgers Baseball.

  29. Well we sure got a fun team to watch. Smith might be the best catcher in the game. All I can say is wow about Pages. So far we got leading contender for a Cy and mvp. Yeah it’s a great time to be a Dodger fan but than again I think it always is

  30. Lipcius has a 1.035 OPS and is starting at 2B?!??!?!

On the other side of the spectrum, Diego Cartaya had another 0 for x, his OPS this year (.510) even worse than last year (.656).

He’s got time, but the Dodgers 40 man crunch shows no sign of abating and there are at least three prospects who MUST be added in December (River Ryan, Trey Sweeney, Justin Wrobleski)

Ask not for whom the bell tolls and all.

Finally, Rancho Cucamonga has a TBA starter on Wednesday at Modesto. Looking like that may very well be Payton Martin.

  31. Mark, This is the best Dodger site period.
I never comment but look forward to reading it every day.
don’t even respond to those jerks.
Keep up the great work, it is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks-you!

  32. So here’s my .02. And I’m shotgunning here with my phone so I apologize for any potential typos as I’m in the road.

Very few understand the time it takes to operate a site like this. I marvel at the fact that Mark has done it, run a multi-million dollar business, engaged in travel, conferences, exhibitions, numerous home projects, family events, etc., and maintained the most thought provoking Dodger site out there.

He’s a good businessman. He’s an amazing husband and father. I don’t now him as well as some but what I saw was a real decent guy that cares about his family and one that lives Dodger baseball on the side.

I operated a blog site for roughly 8 years (give or take) while working full time and simply couldn’t keep up with it. I had over 1,200 postings. I tried like crazy to keep it going, but my career was impacted, and when I realized that I was not being the husband and father I needed to be, I slowed down the pace. Eventually I just shut it down and provided an occasional piece for other bloggers.

Keeping a blog viable requires so much time, at least it did for me. Virtually every waking hour was spent on something and much of it was the site. And for what? No compensation. Then there was the criticism from the basement dwelling writers that would pick apart so much of what I wrote.

You need a thick skin. But when critics resort to threats and insults, it crosses a line. I totally get why Mark simply throws up his hands and says “it’s not worth it.”

I can remember putting in hours writing a piece. There would be research, and stats and citations of other sources. To write a worthy article that covers all the bases crediting other sources and such can take hours. Then some poster calls you out or calls you stupid or uses profanity and such…it’s really something that makes you soul search and consider quitting. I did. Few understand the sacrifice and time this takes. And for what? To get reamed and insulted?

This is the best Dodger blog out there. There is no doubt about it. It’s a shame that a few bad apples need to spoil that but I completely understand if Mark decides to close it down permanently. Trolls get around bans easily. Just saying the problem is solved by banning them is easier said than done.

A lot of us here thank Mark for his work and support him. The overwhelming majority do that. Things to consider: he does this on his own. He doesn’t get paid for it . (In fact it costs him to operate the site). He could have collected with ads, but he refused to do so to keep the site uncluttered and clean.

I think we all owe him a million thank you’s to be completely honest.

    1. I will concur with what you have stated Evan. I have never run a blog; I do not have the financial wherewithal to do so. But not all that long ago I was a contributing writer to this site as well as Jeff’s. The amount of time it took me to research some of the posts I made was unreal. I am in no way a professional writer. These blogs are my first attempts at writing that other people will read. Some stories virtually write themselves. But others take a lot of research to get right. And it is not all that easy to come up with subjects you hope the Dodger fans will enjoy reading. One of the reasons most of my posts had to do with Dodger history. It is one of my favorite subjects, as is United States history. It is also another reason I would ask the posters for stories they might want on their favorite team or player. I have met Mark a couple of times. Once up in Denver when he was there at a convention, and then in Rancho with a few other posters from the blog at a Quakes game. He is a true fan, and he works his butt off to promote his business, this blog and take care of his family. I salute him for his tireless work and dedication to keeping his family, his business running smoothly and still dedicating time to his blog.

      1. Mark, I agree with Evan and Bear about the amount of time and effort you put into this site day in and day out to have to put up with knuckleheads must be frustrating. What makes your site different is that each post gives me food for thought and challenges my belief on what the Dodgers should do to be successful going forward. Your minor league coverage alone could be its own separate Dodger site. I completely understand if you decide to take a break. I sometimes wonder if you would change this to a paid site if it would weed out those only interested in being trolls. I hope you continue to post thought-provoking articles but I would understand if you close this blog once and for all.

      2. Michael,

I just wanted to say I really appreciate the work you have done. Over the years, your articles are extremely well researched and you obviously put in a lot of time when you put them together. I always learn something new when you post and that’s saying a lot b/c I think I know a lot about Dodger history. I was going to mention you in my previous posting but got side tracked. Thank you for what you do.

        1. Thanks Evan, it is a labor of love. I just finished my next post for Jeff and sent it to him. Working on a couple others too.

  33. some people are just miserable. I for one love baseball, love this site and especially love the Dodgers. Way too damn much hostility, anger and bitterness in this world. For me baseball is away to get away from all that crap! Can’t watch the news. Don’t wanna watch the news. Ain’t going to watch the news, I got a good idea mark, maybe we’ll just make you president. And we can make Los Angeles or excuse me dodger stadium capital of the country. Oh, and Michael, you had MVP and cyyoung don’t forget maybe rookie of the year Mr. Pages! Beat the hell out of those snakes tonight . !

    1. “Some people are just miserable.” That’s it in a nutshell Dodger Dad! I get the impression that when Mark brings the heat on certain players and posts facts our fellow friends on this site take it personally when all Mark is doing is sparking debate which is what a good sports blog should do!

  34. Good site. No frills, no ads, no bullshyt graphics cluttering up the place. Topical, current, lively debate (when it stays civil; hell, it’s fun when it ain’t civil). Commendable is the effort it must take to maintain, and it’s done without a profit motive; a pure labor of love that serves the purpose of serious baseball discussion and a forum for all things Blue.

In short, this place is fun…

Another poster mentioned the use of moderators; I would hope that wouldn’t be necessary but many sites employ some level of moderation. I’m not anti-moderator, I’m just pro-free expression and take whatever that brings— good or bad.

But it’s times like these where I wish I could make the ghost of Thomas Charles Lasorda the permanent moderator. Fashioned similar to Lasorda’s “Dugout Wizard” from the old Saturday morning kids show: “The Baseball Bunch”, but instead of waxing poetic and dropping sage advice, this Lasorda goes and stays profane and fired-up, à la the Kingman and Bevacqua rants. I’d imagine it going something like this:

“Friedman is an idiot”?…What the fuck? Are you really saying that shit? That’s a hell of thing to say after all these playoff berths, the big offseason deals, the trade deadline moves and building bullpens on the fly during the season . “Friedman’s an idiot?”…oh man, that some fucking shit you’re saying there…I don’t know how the fuck anyone could come up with that. My fucking goodness : “Friedman’s an idiot?” The man fucking stole Machado for prospects for a World Series run….and he was only supposed to get Scherzer and got Trea Turner too? How the fuck is he an idiot? Jesus Fucking Christ, that’s a hell of a thing to say after all he’s done. Why don’t you just call anyone at a ballgame who likes Dodger Dogs and peanuts an asshole?…that might be closer to the truth. “Friedman’s an idiot”? Unfuckingbelievable…if you’re coming up with hits like that you might want to think it over again. Because with hits like that it sounds like you couldn’t hit water if you fell out of a fucking boat. Holy shit: “Friedman’s an idiot?”….how the fuck can you make that assessment….WHAT THE FUCK’S THE MATTER WITH YOU?!?!?!?!?!”

    In short, cheers…

  35. Mark. I came to this site after leaving a popular Dodger website because the talk was mainly about recipes, Wordle and whining about Trevor Bauer long after it became clear he was set up like a bowling pin.
I watch every game from spring training until the end. The game has changed since I was young. I’m here to keep up on the news, occasionally comment, and hopefully learn.
When someone can teach me something, I appreciate it. You have taught me.
Also, you’re batting almost 1.000 this year. I don’t always agree with you and sometimes I’m just hoping you are wrong when you talk about my favorite Dodgers.

    1. 100%. I left that same Dodger website for the very same reasons. I get my Dodger news right here every day and enjoy it greatly. Don’t always agree with MT, but like he often says we can disagree without being disagreeable.

MT- ignore the idiots and keep the blog open. IT’s great!

  36. Hi Mark. Sorry that the idiots are getting to you.

As you know, there have been times that I have disliked the tenor of things, but from you and from others. People can express an opinion without being a jerk. And it’s helpful if the opinion is well informed. But that’s the point of a blog – people can spout off.

If they are jerks, then block them or ban them. No one here will mind.

Life’s too short Mark. Take care of yourself. And have fun. This is supposed to be for fun, isn’t it?

  37. I feel for me, there is just as much quality in the Dodger blogs as there is in the Red Sox ones I frequent. Probably more options on the Dodger side (Digest, TrueBlue, here, Chronicles)

    It’s a good thing for a fan.

    In Domed Stadium

No Chris Taylor against a left handed starter. Chris should drive approx. a half hour to Glendale the next three days and work on his hitting in the new established Dodger Lab. He should take Outman with him.

NO Dodger Minor League games scheduled today

  39. Blake Treinen pitched in his third rehab game on Sunday, and allowed a run on two singles and a stolen base. He also struck out two.

  40. Don’t let the knuckleheads win, please keep on keeping on, Mark! Appreciate your efforts and those of fellow posters. As has been said by many, this site provides outstanding information with differing opinions. Thank you!

  41. I was extremely excited when I found out ypu were back.you’re a voice of sanity ND I look forward once again to reading your posts in the morning. You have far more fans than you do idiots that post. Please continue for those who look forward to heating from you about our beloved DODGERS.

  42. Man, sorry if you’re getting threats or over the top rude/insulting comments.

That is not cool, and should not be tolerated.

As someone who has actually met and had a drink with Mark, and has Mark’s phone number, I agree that if someone is insulting, intimidating, or threatening, it’s time to let them go.

  43. I agree with Evan Bladh that running a blog is a hard job. I give kudos to Mark for the effort, and yes, you need to moderate blogs to make sure you don’t reach a critical mass of ugliness that drives away normal posters with good takes. Scott’s site imploded because of this. Banning people is a natural part of this.

That said, Mark 100% responsible for manufacturing this latest drama. You don’t post something to the effect of, “It’s sure nice not having Eric and those other morons around here posting anymore,” and then get upset when Eric actually responds. It’s the old expression, “let sleeping dogs lie.” Eric was no longer an active participant. If his posting was a problem, then the problem solved itself. You don’t kick the sleeping dog and then get indignant when the dog yelps.

A couple of weeks ago Mark called out Eric by name in a comment because he wanted to “draw him out.” Why?

    It’s just so ridiculous.

If certain posters are a problem and create a toxic environment, then simply ban them without fanfare or a big announcement. If you don’t intend to engage, then don’t. Don’t announce it and then engage non-stop. If you want to keep the blog going, great. If you are tired and want to shut down the blog, then fine, shut it down and keep it shut down. Stop being a martyr.

And if that is Eric’s actual last name that you posted, that is not ok to do. That’s doxxing. And you’re not going to call the FBI because it’s not against federal law to say mean things about Miguel Vargas on the internet.

I don’t care about any of this nonsense.

    1. Eric posted his last name, so if that is what he says, that is it.

I don’t care either. Your opinion is your opinion. I am fine with that.

Of course, you are engaging in hyperbole when you say that I called Eric by name. I did not name any names It’s just when I said “moron” that he recognized his actual name. That’s all…

    2. Thank you dodgerpatch. Unfortunately nobody sees that but you. Thank you.

I can’t believe I have to say this, but I only posted to thank someone.

  44. OK, I am not going away, and I will destroy those trying to get me to do so.

However, if you enjoy reading here… post more… even if it is just a sentence. It lets me know how important it is to you.

    1. I’m guilty of not posting nearly enough even though I visit the site each and every day. Pages and his quick bat sure look good in center field. Pepiot 6 innings, 0 runs, 2 hits, 7 k’s, and 0 walks. in a 1 – 0 win against the Brewers tonight…impressive.

  45. Lux and Outman not the only young guns struggling. Carroll has had a tough start to 24 as well. Lets see who has the talent and moxie to recover.

  46. I keep waiting for Ohtani to get a big hit to break open a game. He has had many many chances. Again tonight first pitch swinging into a double play. It is so disappointing to c Mookie have another great at bat only to c Ohtani b impatient again.

Dodgers have great scoring chances but 2 double play balls. You just hate to c that happen especially against a weak starter. May not get the chances again.

  47. You’re not always right, no one is-not even AF; but, your opinions are always well thought out. I notice you often refer to Baseball Prospectus, that’s a good sign! I’ve been a subscriber at BP for years. This is easily my favorite Dodger Blog.

  48. Pages pounding fastballs. It will be interesting to see how pitchers adjust to him. Lower in the zone fastballs aren’t working. All the big contracts AF handed out this year and Paxton may be his best signing! It’s not just about the dollars.

  49. The Dodgers placed Ryan Brasier on the 15-day injured list with a right calf strain. Gus Varland is back up from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take the open roster spot.

  50. Mark, thanks for keeping the site open! I love your analysis, even when I don’t fully agree. Like others have said, just ban anyone who is toxic. I think it’s best not to feed the trolls, even calling them a moron gives them attention. Quickly and quietly banning them while fostering informed and lively debate with everyone else is my suggestion. Cheers!

  51. ALERT! Alert!

Dodger batters have no strikeouts through nine innings. The last time they had a no strikeout game was Aug. 28, 2006 against the Cincinnati Reds. They won that game 6-5.

Andre Ethier and Jason Repko each had three hits. Russell Martin had a home run.

  52. Lakers lose, yay. As long as LeBron is there, I am not rooting for them. Look, I know the guy is a great player, but his personality sucks. Ham will probably get fired if LeBron has his way. Nice win, D-Backs did not give up. The one starter on the roster I do not want to see in the playoffs, is Paxton, if he pitches like this all year. Yeah, he has 3 wins and a low ERA, but the guy walks too damn many. Mark, I know you have other things on your mind, but I still have to sign in every time I post.

    1. I plan to have new software in play in the next 30 days. Bear with me… (see what I did there?)

  53. Hey Mark, it’s the real Roger Askew., not your made up alter ego’ like some dumbass posted a week ago. Gettin back to baseball, y’all ever notice on multiple sites where including this one, whenever the Dodgers lose it s “Fire Doc, he totally sucks”, yet when we go on a win streak all you hear is crickets,. If y’all gonna trash Roberts when he makes a wrong move, then give him props when he wins, it’s not a one way street people. The same guy you just trashed for the lineup he trotted out a few days ago in a loss, or a bullpen game to save some of his starters is the same guy who penciled in the lineup when we just had a kick ass 6 or 7 games in a row. If your gonna talk it when things go south, better own it when things go good

  54. I have never engaged on the internet with anybody. But I visit this site at least once a day. This is for you, Mark.
    Book ’em.
