  1. The Giants are going after Judge hard. Steph Curry is pitching him too. I think he will sign soon for eight years/$360 Million. Where? I don’t think Friedman will pay that. Yankees remain 2-1 Odds.

I would be all in with Carlos Correa if I knew his back would hold up. He’s exactly the kind of vocal, edgy leader the Dodgers need. I heard an interview with Byron Buxton talking about Correa’s leadership for Minnesota and he said they would miss his leadership more than his bat. If the Dodgers can sign him for 8 Years and less than $300 MIllion, I would consider it.

There would be no problems in the locker room. On the first day of Spring Training, he would address the team, “I am all about winning… maybe I get carried away, and I did get carried away in 2017. For that, I am sorry, but now I am here, and I am going to make up for it. Let’s win a few more World Series together!”

The Dodger players would embrace him, and so would the fans.

A lot of you like Andrew Benintendi, and so do I… just not in CF. He is a pure leadoff hitter, so he would push Mookie to #2., which I think would be great. If the Dodgers could get him for 4 Year/$54 Million, which is what MLBTR predicts, then I would do it, as long as I had a CF’er. I am actually OK with Thompson and Outman there. If they can’t cut it, then they can always make a trade.

In the starting pitcher market, the pitcher who intrigues me the most is Jamison Taillon, whom the Dodgers might turn into a #2 or #3. A 3 or 4-year deal at $56 Million (MLBTR Prediction) would be fair. However, the Dodgers do not need to go after a starter. I think it’s time a rookie is the #5 (Gavin Stone, Bobby Miller, or Ryan Pepiot – may the best man win).

    Try this:
    1. Benintendi – LF (L)
    2. Betts RF (R)
    3. Freeman 1B (L)
    4. Correa SS (R)
    5. Muncy DH (L)
    6. Smith C (R)
    7. Lux 2B (L)
    8. Vargas 3B (R)
    9. Thompson/Outman CF

  2. Happy thanksgiving everyone! How about reuniting Swanson with freeman? I like benetendi in left too mark. I think if we could get degrom for a 2 year deal why not take a shot? Center field is scary for sure. Cody probably won’t come back, but a gold glove center fielder with power batting ninth, I’ll take it all day long! Happy holidays and hope people start treating each other like we should! Bless everyone

    1. I doubt they are even in on him. Atlanta would take a huge PR hit if they let another popular player walk. I think Benintendi would be ok, but I am not really sold that they need another lefty bat.

  3. Interesting quotes from Buxton re Correa. The Dodgers do seem to need more of the competitive fire.
Benitendi is OK, I guess. Doesn’t really excite me.
I just looked up the stats from 2022: His OBP was a very nice .373, slotting between Arraez and Kwan. The latter two, unlike Benitendi, actually walked more than they struck out. Arraez and Kwan are throwbacks to the Carew/Gwynn mold.
So again: Yoshida. Japanese veteran with career BA over .300 and career OBP over .400. In recent years he has walked nearly DOUBLE the times he has struck out. Arraez and Kwan just barely walk a bit more. Yoshida is an intriguing talent.
Freddie, by the way, was second to Judge in OBP. We know Judge got a lot of free passes, of course, but Freddie didn’t. Freddie is very disciplined and makes a lot of contact… but I sure wish he would show more power. Just 21 HRs from a guy that big.
Something else to keep in mind as we endeavor to solve the Dodgers’ problems: Lux’s OBP in the first half was up around .380, and his BA was in the league’s top ten. If he can get back to early 2022 form, perhaps he should slot behind Mookie.
We all wish Mookie’s OBP was better, but it ain’t bad. There’s a reason he’s been a leadoff hitter–including in Boston, when Benetendi was a teammate– for most of his career: He’s a catalyst.
A guy who simply gets on base is nice, but not necessarily a catalyst. Mookie is always ranked among the best baserunners in the game–better than Trea, though Trea is faster– and his power is another nice dimension from a lead-off guy, because they can put their team ahead on the first pitch and because the most ABs. Ricky Henderson, perhaps the greatest leadoff hitter ever, had power too.

  4. FWIW, best Dodger OBP in 2022…
Freddie .407 (second to Judge in MLB)
    Trayce .364 (only 205 ABs)
    JT .350
    Lux .346 (421 ABs)
    Trea .343
    Will .343
Mookie .340 (but a .873 OPS, second on team to Freddie)
    Muncy .329 (despite a .196 BA)
    Belli .265

  5. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We’ve got a lot to be thankful for. Including being able to yell and scream each and every October. Can’t wait to see what AF delivers under the tree this year!

  6. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

And what a nice surprise to read that there’s a new member of the Andrew Benintendi fan club.

Been banging his drum since the season ended of course. That BA would sit very nicely in Trea’s spot, or even leading off, and he’s got some wheels as well!

Wouldn’t be too expensive, and leaves some cash for a RH Slugger (Judge), and he’s only 28 so we’d have him in his prime years.

Anyone watching the World Cup? Interesting game tomorrow afternoon…

    1. Happy Thanksgiving or whatever they celebrate in Jolly Old England. No interest in soccer at all, but I watch Ted Lasso, so I know how big it is in England. I am watching Elton Johns concert that he recently did at Dodger Stadium on Disney. Dodgers donated 1,000,000 dollars to his AIDS foundation. Billy Jean King and Dodger Chairman, Mark Walter made the presentation.

      1. Elton is a life long Watford supporter and was Owner of the Club for a long time until he moved to the US.

Without him we would be no where near as successful as we are now.
He played a couple of Concerts on this tour at our Stadium.

        Have a good day Michael.

Report: Dodgers’ Trevor Bauer loses 2 court rulings related to sexual assault case
    Ryan Young

    Wed, November 23, 2022 at 8:15 PM
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer lost two rulings in court on Wednesday related to his sexual assault allegations, according to the Los Angeles Times.

A judge ruled that a San Diego woman who accused Bauer of sexual assault can continue her lawsuit against him and dismissed Bauer’s defamation lawsuit against one of her former attorneys. That defamation suit being dismissed does not impact his other defamation suits related to the case.

Three women have come forward with accusations of sexual assault against Bauer, claiming that the pitcher choked them unconscious during consensual sex before assaulting them when they were out cold. The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office declined to press criminal charges.

Bauer has sued the San Diego woman, who was the first to come forward against him, for defamation. She has since filed a countersuit, alleging that he sexually assaulted her in two different incidents last year. Bauer argued in court that the lawsuit should not proceed, as the woman first accused him in a restraining order that was later denied.

The initial “court proceedings did not necessarily decide that Bauer did not batter or sexually assault” the woman, a judge ruled on Wednesday, meaning the suit against him can continue. That restraining order was “materially misleading,” a judge previously ruled when denying it, and omitted certain texts between the two.

Bauer had filed a lawsuit against one of the woman’s former attorneys over comments he made to The Washington Post in which he claimed Bauer “brutalized” the woman. That suit was dismissed Wednesday.

    1. These were not really loses. Bauer’s Team is just pressing every legal button they can, signaling he is not going out without a fight.

    1. I generally only eat four things on Thanksgiving:

      1. Turkey (both white and dark meat);
      2. Stuffing;
      3. Mashed Potatoes; and
      4. Gravy

I put Ingredients 1-3 in a bowl and pour the gravy over it.

      Repeat 1 or 2 times!

      Next, I sleep!

  8. Happy Thanksgiving to all. I am going to spend a quiet day by myself. My nephew welcomed his new son yesterday. Sean Edward. Born one day before his dad’s birthday. I doubt you get anything under the tree Cassidy, not AF’s MO lately. They seem to prefer to do business after the new year and when it is closer to spring training.

  9. Now they want expressive, vocal players, they say that there is no fire in the team. We have had some of those types of guys: Puig, Joc, Kiké, Manny Machado and they said they were clowns, that they were immature, others went further and said that this was not “the Dodgers way”, now we have Vesia and Graterol and some, here, don’t like that they are very effusive in their celebrations, they also criticize players from other teams with these characteristics.
I find it incredible that they say that Trea will sign with another team because it will cost a lot of money and they believe that Correa’s signing is more likely, when Correa will get a contract with more years and more money for being younger.

    1. They had a rah rah guy last season in Alberto. He was really animated during games. They had Scherzer, and he is about as fiery as they come. The fiery guy on the team is Kershaw. He is one tough competitor, but he doesn’t play every day. I do not care how fiery or how much of a team leader he is supposed to be, I would find it extremely difficult to root for Correa.

  10. I’m certain a matchup between Carlos Correa and myself in a fight that he’d be the winner. But I’d take that fight because i can guarantee he wouldn’t come out of it smelling like a rose. Maybe I hold grudges longer than I should but that’s who I am and I don’t believe what he bring is anything I could cheer for. Today is really just another day for me but I wish for all you who hold this day special that it goes off great. Holidays don’t mean a lot when it comes down to being the last surviving member of a family. and really families. Some will say that in itself is blessed….okay whatever. Glass half empty, glass half full? For me it’s more like bladder half empty, bladder half full and that is where true happiness lies. or doesn’t because it’s always at least half full. I am thankful for the memory of the wonder days when I could actually take a piss. Nowadays my best is taking a leak. I hope you all can see I just relaying the light side, what it is. And with that I hope you all the best.

      1. Well Kpizzle, it has been almost 19 years since I’ve been in a fight and I have lost fights in my life but nobody has ever bitch slapped me and nobody had ever come out of a fight not knowing they had been in a fight. I said he’d win. Maybe you’ll get a chance to bitch slap me…… it can be arranged. Then there’d be a chance you might actually know what you’re talking about. I say it wouldn’t be your words above.

  11. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
As I contemplate another early playoff exit, I’m so very grateful that this is my biggest complaint as I sit down to Thanksgiving dinner with my family tonight.
So many others have real problems that I never want to forget how truly lucky I am.

B& P if you’re out there today, how about a rundown of your Thanksgiving menu. It’s always mouthwatering.

  12. Happy Thanksgiving to all Have a safe and blessed day. The Red Sox are low balling Devers the dodgers should go after him.

  13. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
So much to be thankful for this year. Despite my complaining, I live in a great country and am blessed with comforts that prior generations could not even imagine.
Thanks to Mark and all the contributors who make this site enjoyable.

On the Dodgers, I agree that they have many options and AF will probably put a great roster together.
However, Correa for $300 million would not be my choice. His actions and comments as an Astro are disqualifying for me. But beyond that issue, he has only played more than 150 games in one season which was 2016. He has a history of back problems, and Boras is his agent. I would prefer Trea Turner over Correa if you are going to invest $300 million, and Boegaerts and Swanson are better values to me. In terms of “fiery leadership”, the Twins finished with 78 wins and in 3rd place in a weak division with Correa. And the Astros won the WS with a rookie SS replacing Correa and his “leadership”.

    1. We once had a guy who also was injured a lot and barely played but led us to a championship. I think his name was Gibson!

  14. At the moment of surrender
    I folded to my knees
I did not notice the passersby
And they did not notice me
