What Could Happen… or not

Frankly, I am a person who believes that conventional wisdom is usually wrong. That leads me to look at things some people don’t notice and see things that they don’t. It’s not a “science”… more of an “art” that has to be continually refined. When many investors are buying, I may be selling and when they are selling, I am looking to buy. Like anyone, I am not always right, but I get my fair share.

If it looks like a bull, it might be a bear and if it talks like a duck, it might be a sheep and I would never pull the wool over your eyes. That’s a baaaad thing to do. At any rate, here are some things that I think will be very real possibilities for 2020:

  1. Corey Seager – 2019 was just a time to focus on getting healthy. He wasn’t nearly as cognizant of his “technique” as he was of just regaining his mobility, muscle memory, and batting technique. This will be the first offseason where he can focus on working with Robert Van Socyoc and company to refine his technique. I predict he will return to All-Star form (he really wasn’t that far off) and will OPS .900+. hit 30 HR, 40 doubles and drive in 100 from the 5 or 6 holes. He could also sign an extension.
  2. Cody Bellinger – Last offseason, Cody improved immensely. He has the ability to evolve and will evolve even more by becoming more “Yelich-esque by using the opposite field more and not pulling the ball as much.
  3. Justin Turner – He will not be a regular in 2020. Instead, he will fill the David Freese role and get 350 to 400 AB’s as a pinch hitter, part-time 3B, and 1B.
  4. AJ Pollock – He will also fill the same type of role as JT. H will be the 4th outfielder and work hard to help the Dodgers get back to the World Series.
  5. Clayton Kershaw – Under Mark Prior, Clayton will evolve as a pitcher… maybe adding a MPH or two and changing his pattern of pitching. He will again post a sub 3.00 ERA as he settles into a lesser role.
  6. Alex Verdugo – He will play RF and leadoff. He will hit over .300 with a .370+ OB% and lead the league in runs scored. That is assuming he will be healthy.
  7. Joc Pederson – He could be an extension candidate or he could be traded, depending upon whether the Dodgers are successful in landing a RH hitter, like Alex Castellanos. Guys who hit 36 HR a year don’t grow on trees, so Joc has value… to the Dodgers and other teams. You don’t easily replace his power numbers.
  8. Walker Buehler – He will win his first Cy Young in 2020 and be the Opening Day Starter. That’s all I have to say about that.
  9. Julio Urias – It’s his time and he could likely finish in the TOP 10 in the Cy Young Voting.
  10. Kenley Jansen and Joe Kelly – It’s hard to predict what a reliever will do. I think it’s very likely that both pitchers have stellar seasons by their own standards.
  11. Russell Martin – I think he will be back for a swan song. He is a strong clubhouse presence and still a capable backup. What that means for Austin Barnes, I have no clue.
  12. Keibert Ruiz – What steps he might take in 2020, may very well depend upon how Will Smith, Austin Barnes and Russell Martin do. He could spend the season at OKC or move to LA after the All-Star Break. His bat to ball skills are “otherworldly.”
  13. Gavin Lux – It’s hard for me to project him. I like what I see, but am not convinced he is a great player. He did not jump out at me like Seager, Bellinger, Kershaw, and Verdugo. I hope he is the real deal.
  14. Rookies – Gavin Lux, Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May, Gerardo Carrillo, Brett de Gues, Dennis Santana, and Edwin Rios all have a shot… some better than others. I would not be surprised if 3 or 4 broke with the team in Spring Training.
  15. Dark Horse – Michael Grove who will be another year removed from TJ. He could move up rapidly if he is utilized as a reliever.
  16. MIA – Jesen Therrien, Yadier Alvarez, Yasiel Sierra, Andrew Toles, and Morgan Cooper (what the hell happened?).
  17. Front Office and Coaches – There will be a few who accept other jobs… maybe Byrnes, Hanselman, and Bates… although I hope not.
  18. Trades and Free Agent Signings – Something crazy is about to happen.
  19. Will They Return? Ross Stripling, Hyun-jin Ryu, Adam Kolarek, Rich Hill, Casey Sadler, JT Chargois, Dylan Floro, and Scott Alexander – 5 or 6 will not be with the Dodgers in 2020.
  20. Yimi Garcia – He may be the Dodgers best reliever in 2020… maybe even a closer.
  21. Caleb Ferguson – He will step into an important role in the bullpen after embracing his relief future.
  22. Dave Roberts will be Manager of the Year and Andrew Friedman will be Executive of the Year after winning toe 2020 World Series.

Peace Out! Which is better than Peace Off! I am off to the Big Apple for the weekend to celebrate my oldest son’s 33rd birthday.

  1. You forgot one item, Mark. The Dodgers will also not win the WS and will probably not even get there. How do I know this? Because they won’t change what they have to change to do it.

Nice to see you with your boy!

  2. (3) Dodgers will start Turner in 120+ games (1b, 2b, 3b, and DH – 10 road games against AL teams in 2020) for 450+ plate appearances;
    (4) if not traded, Pollock will platoon in LF with Pederson;
    (5) hopefully Kershaw will not be as stubborn in 2020, finally adding a change-up to his arsenal of pitches;
    (7) Hopefully Dodgers know that Alex Castellanos has not had a major league at-bat since 2013
    (20) Yimi Garcia is more likely to be traded, or non-tendered, than close for Dodgers

  3. A lot to chew on. Teaming Pollock/Joc in left could be very good. Use Pollock to sub for Bellinger and Verdugo.

If Turner is a sub, then you have to go and get Rendon.

I really like Smith as the starting catcher. He was very unlucky in the play offs. Yes, bring Martin back one more year. A good man to have in the club house and mentor for Smith.

I do think Seager is going to have a very good year. Bellinger needs to become a complete ball player. It needs to happen on the offensive side. He needs to learn to go the other way and have a different approach with two strikes. Muncy at first and Lux at second.

It would be nice to get a starting pitcher. Another ace would help. I would sign Hill and put him in the bull pen and start when needed. Stripling is no longer needed and he needs a change. Urias and May become the other two starters along with Kershaw.

  4. I love your optimism MT! Have a great time in Gotham for the weekend! Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

I read an interesting article about Joe Maddon and his return to the Angels this year. I found some of his comments interesting. Among them he said that every team is playing off the same sheet of music and that’s a bad thing. He’s going to blend analytics with heart. He’s going to establish an identity for the Angels and they’re going to bunt.

I thought his comments were refreshing and welcome. Did the pendulum swing to the apex? Is it going to swing back towards a balanced approach?

In game 1 of the World Series, the Nats went with Doolittle, a lefty to get lefty Brantley out to end the 8th. Then he came out in the 9th to face Bregman, Gurriel and Corea – all righties and going against “the book”.

I’d really like to see a more traditional lineup in the future Dodgers teams. I hate Joc batting leadoff. I want to see some base stealers and table setters at the top of the lineup. I want to see them manufacture runs. I’m tired of seeing shifts in double play situations. I want to see full time players, a balanced lineup and less platoons.

  5. Interesting stuff. Dominoes may be in play here. Current “conventional” thinking has the Dodgers making a serious run at Rendon, not Cole. Reasons are fairly straight forward. Dodgers can move Turner to first. They can add a very good right handed bat, improve the defense at third. It won’t cost prospects, they have money to spend, the need for a third baseman moving forward and Less Risk than pursuing a high price free agent pitcher.

If that happens, dominoes begin to fall. Turner moves to first, Muncy focuses on second, Lux will need to move short term to the outfield which is already crowded. He can also fill in at second and short. Seager has a big year at short and all the trade talk can stop.

That leaves too many players in the outfield. Pollock will start in left, Bellinger in center or right, Verdugo center or right. Beatty can back-up. Hernandez remains a play everywhere utility type. That means the Dodgers consider trading Joc and Taylor.

But if Rendon doesn’t sign, lots of other teams will pursue him, then the dominoes don’t fall (maybe that would be best). Turner remains at third, Muncy plays first, Lux is at second. I think he’s the real deal, a legit future star.

So what do the Dodgers do with all the money they have? Trade for a right handed bat? Pursue a top flight up and coming pitcher in a trade. Not easy to do. Sign Zack Wheeler? Not with the idea that he will be similar to some of the young pitchers, but maybe he could become the next Gerrit Cole. Great stuff. Yes, the Dodgers have talented young pitchers, but there will be innings limits on Urias, May, Gonsolin as they try to keep them fresh for post season play. Maybe they just re-sign Ryu, although hard throwers seem to be more effective in October.

Then there is the bullpen, yes it can improve. A key trade or two may make a big difference.

But I do think you’re on to something Mark. All the stars are lining up ( payroll flexibility, plenty of young players making an impact and more on the way, the desire to find a key Ingredient or two that could help make a difference, the desire to make a statement to Dodgers fans, and the fact that “hero” ball didn’t work this fall) for something “crazy” to happen.

We should pay close attention to what happens with Pederson. His numbers would be hard to replace and he is a plus in terms of locker room chemistry.

This is going to be an interesting winter for the Dodgers. There will definitely be changes.

  6. I was reading a report on a possible trade (one of thousands) between LA and NYY about Stanton and his $ 234 millions to Dodgers in exchange for Pollok, Kelly and second baseman Michael Busch, with that Dodgers saves $73 millions, in addition Yankees could also send prospect pitcher Albert Abreu …. That would be a good trade option?

    1. Could you please explain to me Jorge how this trade saves the Dodgers 73 million? Or did I misunderstand what you were saying?

        1. We would save 73 mil but be taking on Stanton’s 234 mil. To me, that’s not a savings, that’s spending an extra 161 million. For a guy who seems to constantly be hurt and with his body type will not age well.
I see where you’ve got Carlos convinced also. You guys out vote me 2-1 but I vote a resounding NO THANK YOU.

    2. Sure Jorge that is a trade that i was reading and thinking about and it would make sense for both teams. I think is a good option to ship a bad contract like Pollock and even throw Kelly in the trade. Makes sense

  7. I agree with SBuffalo. I think there’s going to be some big surprises this offseason and there’s going to be tears and fits of rage, just like last year when we traded Puig. Joc already had his house in Studio City appraised and is buying boxes ahead of the move.

As I’ve already stated, we have more money, cap space, prospect capital and less holes to fill than any contender. As AC pointed out, it’s safe to assume that the Dodgers spent the last few years staying extremely competitive, selling tickets and bringing in new equity to get their financial situation in order. It’s hard for me to speculate what’s gonna happen this offseason, but we will see something bigger than signing AJ Pollock and Joe Kelly to good value contracts.

I love Mark’s optimism, but I don’t like his unbalanced valuations. Why is he so high on Verdugo and Ruiz and so low on Lux? Why does he love Kike and hate Pollock?

Like SBuffalo stated, there will be changes. It’s just very hard to predict what those changes will be. I think AF likes it like that.

  8. A lot of work went into that article Mark. Thank you for the analysis. I agree with most of them and also think there will be some surprises before the next season starts. It will be interesting to see what happens. Nice photo of you and your son by the way.

  9. OK, my turn:
    1) Agree with Mark on Seager and Belli
    2) AF will surprise most of us and actually be high bidder on Rendon, thus moving JT to first.
    3) Muncy will move around between second and first and left and get 500 at bats
    4) Lux will start the year at OKC but be up by May and force his way into the lineup, playing some second and some short
    5) Joc will be traded
    6) Belli and Verdugo will be every day starters in center and right (Belli in center, Dugo in right)
    7) Left field will be a revolving door between Pollock, Beaty and Muncy
    8) Yimi will finally fulfill some of his potential and be an important bullpen piece
    9) We will trade for or sign a bullpen piece who will share closer duties with Kenley
    10) One of Kike or CT3 will not be a Dodger by opening day
    11) We will not make a serious offer for Cole but will try to sign Wheeler or trade for Kluber
    12) We will be outbid for Nick Castellanos but, as a fallback, will sign Alex Castellanos (could catch SC Bum)
    13) Dodgers will beat the Yanks in the WS in 7 games and due to the influence of Mart Timmons the parade will be held in downtown Indianapolis.

  10. Joe Kelly : Stellar Season ?? You sure are an Optimist mr MT. This guy had the worst meltdown by a reliever in that 10th inning i ever seen. This guy needs to be packaged and his big contract somewhere else !. Kelly was a disaster and even worst than Brian Wilson and that Hawaiian guy that Ned Colletti gave a big contract a few years back ! No Thank you ….. This guy should had never been pitching that 10th inning when has shown no command or the mentality to shut down the opossition. FO got fooled into thinking 3 innings against Dodgers in ws 2018 was worth this dumb contract. One of Friedman biggest mistakes so far !!

Trade Idea : TRade Pollock, Kelly, Seager, Joc or Verdugo for Giancarlo Stanton, Andujar, Clint Frazier, and reliever or prospect. Do it !!!

    1. Sure, Cashman will be all over that. Why not add Jeren Kendall and Robinson Ortiz and get Cashman to kick in Gleybar Torres?

      1. He will they want to get rid of Stanton and Dodgers i am sure would love to get Kelly and Pollock out ! Also Yankees are looking for SS and if i was the Dodgers i will sign Bellinger long term and not Seager so better trade him now. Is unlikely they can sign both . Also Dodgers should sign Betances for bullpen.

  11. ON another subject, there’s a really interesting story about the Astros’ management style and its impact on players, front office and others in The Athletic. The thought is that their organizational blindness resulted in the horrible statement by Brandon Taubman that ultimately got him fired.

    https://theathletic.com/1317907/2019/10/25/taubman-saga-exposes-longstanding-questions-about-the-astros-culture-under-jim-crane-and-jeff-luhnow/

    Here’s a taste:
“Everything was framed, obsessively, around two pillars: winning and efficiency. The product and making money, neatly summed up in one buzzword: sustainability. The Astros were corporate America’s modern-day takeover of America’s pastime, and they moved at breakneck speed.”

““Toxic. Eats you alive,” said one of more than 10 current and former Astros employees The Athletic spoke to this week about the Astros Way. “Cutthroat. Secretive. Not fun. But, winning, being first, innovative.”

The Taubman incident — and a series of vacuous responses issued under Crane and Luhnow — reveal just how capable Astros management is of bulldozing people and decency. In Houston, as one ex-employee put it, up was down.”

“One ex-Astros baseball operations employee said this week that when they left for another team, they did so specifically because of the culture of the front office. They’re not alone, though an exact number is unclear. The Osuna acquisition was eye-opening for many.”

“Generally, however, those employees described a ruthless operation where people struggle to feel valued, to feel like their voice matters. Moving up can feel impossible, internally or externally. Advanced titles, which come with advanced money, are guarded more closely in Houston than elsewhere.”

Fans don’t really know what goes on behind the scenes. It seems as if the Dodgers aren’t run this way, but is there any way to know?

  12. 1. I too believe that the Dodgers will do something totally unexpected and sign at least one significant free agent. I am one who believes good (great) pitching wins out, but I tend to agree that the Dodgers will only pay lip service for Gerrit Cole. I agree with sbuffalo and Singing The Blue that Anthony Rendon will be their target. He checks all the right boxes, RH bat with power and great OBP with a good glove, who can also play 2B. He says he wants to be retired by 35, so maybe a 5 year $165MM ($33AAV) to $175MM ($35MM AAV) with an option if he wants a 6th year will get it done. LAD can absolutely afford that deal, and with a couple of other moves they can free up some more dollars to add another top player (pitcher) either via trade or FA.

    2. I predict that no matter who the Dodgers sign, it will never be enough for Jeff, William, or Eric. I can hear it now. Unless the Dodgers sign Cole, Rendon, Strasburg, AND (not or) Will Smith, they do not have a chance.

    3. Seager, Belli, Verdugo, and Muncy will be everyday LHH players. JT will play about 120 games at 1st and 3rd. Smith will be the regular catcher. And Pollock will either play himself into a regular role or he will be platooned. 59 says he will be the regular and Bums says he will platoon with Joc. We will see.

    4. After a huge work out regime this winter, Corey will become a top three MVP candidate for 2020.

    5. I also think Joc and one of Kike’/CT3 will be traded over the winter. No Bums it is not because I do not like Joc, it is because he has such a potential high trade value for this year, that the Dodgers can better use the $8+MM on pitching. Coupled with the Kike’/CT3 savings of $5+MM and the delta between the CBT and the dollars expended for Rendon, the Dodgers will have $20MM – $25MM to add a strong #2 and some good relief.

    6. I like Kluber and Giles for the #4 money and for only 1 year commitment. Both have concerns, but both can be dominant when healthy in body (Kluber) and mind (Giles). Why do people always want to think the worst. If you do not take chances, you will stay stagnant and never get better. Sure they will make mistakes, but maybe they won’t. I think AF and his team will do enough due diligence to find that #2 and co-Closer even if not named Kluber and Giles. Others do not trust AF…only themselves.

    7. I hope the Nats win the WS making it more reasonable that both could leave. Both are Boras clients and Boras has a good relationship with Lerner so they could both stay as well. I think Washington will make QO for both and will try to work something out to keep one.

    8. With Rendon signed, Lux needs to go back to OKC to continue to work on 2B defense and perhaps some in the OF. He is certainly fast enough to play CF. Trea Turner did it for Washington, and Lux is a good enough athlete that he could do so as well.

    9. I do not really believe that the Dodgers are that enamored with Nicholas Castellanos (nor Alex). That may be a mistake, but they passed on JDM (a mistake IMO) and he was a better hitter than Castellanos (again IMO). But then again my opinion isn’t worth much since I only get to make these suggestions on a blog, unlike Jeff, William and Eric who should be on speed dial with every MLB owner because they know how to put together a WS team. I know Jeff, do the opposite of whatever the Dodgers are doing and that will guarantee a win.

    9. I have no prediction for #22. I only hope he evolves. He is too smart not to realize that what he is doing is not working, especially in the playoffs. I am not as optimistic that KJ will evolve, but I am encouraged that he is working out.

    10. I am optimistic that Yimi Garcia will improve his command, because that is all that is missing for him to be very good. Maybe Prior can find a way to make that change.

    11. You know that I am a true believer in Caleb Ferguson. I think he now understands that he is best suited for the bullpen, and maybe he can become the Dodgers version of Andrew Miller.

    12. Ross Stripling is a favorite of mine, but he is another that I think makes sense to trade. He is a #4 at best with LA. Can he be better utilized in a trade for a a key reliever and maybe a top 15 prospect on the way up? The Dodgers have a boat load of #4 and #5 pitchers.

    13. The Dodgers need a legit #2. I do believe in Urias, May, and Gonsolin and believe they will be huge pitchers in LA, just not for 2020. That is why Kluber for one year makes sense to my simple mind.

    1. AC, it’s not important what I think or what anyone else thinks. You and others will continue to think as you do, in any case. Plus, i never said any of the things you wrote. Please focus on your own take of things and don’t project anything on to others.

Sure, they will put their big toe into the water of FA, but their track record has been atrocious at this. They need a change in the FO, not a blow up. They need another vision from someone who can act as a GM. AF has struck out in this department as far as I’m concerned. The only way they go all the way is with LUCK. So far, LUCK has escaped them in the big games. It also doesn’t help to have a manager who is useless in making in-game decisions. When they begin to address their real issues, I may feel differently.

      1. I am not projecting anything. I cannot remember anything positive you have said about the Dodgers. Maybe you have but I certainly do not remember. You want to continually knock the Dodgers, feel free. But don’t expect for it to go unchallenged. If the Dodgers signed Cole and Rendon you would still complain. Again maybe you have, but instead of always tearing down the team why don’t you suggest a plausible way to improve the team. At least both William and Eric provide something constructive. I don’t often agree with them but they try to be constructive. We have a healthy difference of opinion. I enjoy reading their takes. Again maybe you have been positive but it sure has not resonated with me.

        1. AC, I have continually said, as I’m sure you noticed, that the Dodgers are good, not great. Is that being negative? I have constantly said, AF is a genius when it comes to managing the farm and finances. Is that negative?

To make it clear, I don’t think they will sign either Rendon or Cole, but would I complain if they did? C’mon, I know you don’t have a 6th grade education. I would be astounded if they got those players! Who is tearing down the team? I really don’t know where you get these ideas from.

Why don’t I suggest a plausible way to improve the team? I did, several times. I said that AF needs a GM to balance him and getting rid of Doc would be a start. I have said they need another SP and I was hoping they would sign Mike Minor before the trade deadline or Syndergaard. Wheeler would not be bad, either. Perhaps you are looking for me to sympathize with everything you post? I like your posts and suggestions but most of them are not going to happen. Is that being negative? I think we have very different definitions of what negative is. Am I out of place to criticize this team that has blown 3 WS chances? Do I need to defend Doc and CK and Machine Gun Kelly? Do I need to praise Seager and Belli for their sterling post season play? What in the world are you on about?

  13. I don’t know what Friedman and/or Doc will do, so I won’t comment on that. But here is what in my opinion the Dodgers should do for 2020.

Free agents the Dodgers should pursue are Gerrit Cole, Stephen Strasburg (if he opts out), and Will Harris. Trade for Aaron Bummer and Ken Giles.

    Position players:

    Smith should be C.
    Muncy should be 1B.
    Lux should be 2B.
    Seager should be SS.
    Turner should be 3B.
    Bellinger should be RF.
    Verdugo should be CF.
Pederson should platoon in LF with Pollock.
Taylor should get plenty of time at SS and 2B among other positions.
Pollock should be Joc Pederson’s platoon partner.
Beaty should get plenty of time at 3B among other positions.
Hernandez should only start in emergencies and should embrace his role as a utility player.
Martin and Barnes put up similar stats, one should be the back up catcher, the other gone.
Rios a good fit for the White Sox in a trade package for Aaron Bummer.
Gyorko a free agent and should be gone.
Negron has options and should be in AAA.
Garlick has options and should be in AAA.
White has options and should be in AAA.
DJ Peters watch out he might make the team sometime during the season.
Keibert Ruiz watch out he might make the team sometime during the season.

    Pitchers:

    Buehler should be a starter.
    Kershaw should be a starter.
    Maeda should be a starter.
May depending on free agency and trade acquisitions a starter or reliever.
Urias depending on free agency and trade acquisitions a starter or reliever.
Gonsolin should be a high leverage reliever.
Baez should be a high leverage reliever.
Jansen would like him to opt out of his contract, but he won’t, so should be used in low leverage relief due to his declining stuff.
Ryu a free agent and due to his age should be gone.
Hill a free agent and should be gone.
Sadler has options and should be in AAA.
Ferguson has options and should be in AAA.
Chargois has options and should be in AAA.
Kolarek has options and should be in AAA.
Floro has options and should be in AAA.
Alexander out of options and injured and should be released.
Stripling a good fit for the White Sox in a trade package for Aaron Bummer.
Kelly out of options and should be in a trade package for Aaron Bummer.
Garcia out of options and should be in a trade package for Ken Giles.
Dennis Santana should be in a trade package for Ken Giles.

    1. Excellent, although I still believe in Dennis Santana, I think that one year after his injury we will see him reborn and he will be valuable in the bullpen, much better than Floro, Sadler, Chargois, etc.

    2. Eric,
I feel I could’ve written this myself. It’s almost a verbatim take on the team that I have except for Beaty and Maeda. You put him at 3B but I am not sure he is a very reliable defender there. I like having him as a PH and he could certainly man 3B or 1B, but I am not sold on his defense. I guess you feel he is a utility player. I think we’re spoiled with utility guys like Kike, CT3, and Muncy, since Muncy is not assigned to either 1B or 2B.

3B will be a large question if we don’t get someone who can replace Turner there. I would definitely like to see this:

      1B Turner
      2B Muncy
      SS Lux
      3B Seager

I’m not sold on Corey at SS. I know this is not a popular opinion but I think he is the only player that could slide over to 3B as the team is presently constructed. Can’t see them getting Rendon or Bryant. Bryant would not interest me very much, anyways. Muncy really isn’t bad at 2B and JT would plug right in at 1B, hopefully, after ST at 1B.

For me, Maeda should be a reliever. He is not a reliable SP throughout a whole season so why not convert him now. His team friendly contract is perfect for the BP. I can live with the rest of your pitching scheme. Hopefully, AF will go out and get some help for the rotation. Again, I can’t see them getting Cole. It would be too out of character for AF.

  14. What r the odds that old Jeff started the post today with his constant drival.
    You’re right AC, no satisfaction.
He’d bitch if was hung with a new rope.

  15. Red Sox hired Chaim Bloom a very much respected baseball executive. He is in the mold of AF. Very good hire.

    1. Hopefully Bloom and Andrew have a great relationship and he’ll be willing to trade us Mookie for Negron, who can play the outfield, gives them four years of control and will save them about 27 mil in salary.
Geez, maybe I’m offering them too much. What do you think AC? 🙂

      1. Negron might be too much. I am thinking Jeren Kendall who can replace Mookie in the OF. Okay fine, the Dodgers will have to suck up $27MM.

        1. You and I have the same opinion of poor Jeren. I hope we’re both wrong…………………..but I doubt it.

  16. Okay another college nerd . Dodgers need to bring and old school baseball guy not these computer nerds ! Go back to the Dodger Way : Hit and run, stealing bases, Advancing runners, manufacturing runs, hustling. Now is boring a bunch of shifts and platoons and pre game plans ! Dodgers are playing like Robots. kershaw, Seager, Pollock seem like Robots.

  17. Baseball needs to go back to Sandlot baseball, This is where baseball originated not this computer bullshit. Just my opinion.

  18. “Computer bullshit”?

Wake up, You live in the 21st century. Maybe continuing to advance human knowledge needs to cease. Progress be dammed. In fact, why are you on this blog? After all it’s clearly made possible by all that computer bullshit. I guess if you don’t understand something it’s nothing but “bullshit” .

  19. Dodgerfan,

That was me. Left out my screen name.

And if all you can reply with is a bunch of crass vulgarity, then all I can do is wish you nothing but happiness in the antediluvian domain that you inhabit.

  20. Carlos agree, I miss bunting, stealing, hitting to the opp. field etc etc., as much as the other guy, but this computer babel (for baseball) has me mumbling to myself…
Mookie Betts for Jeren K. or Negron??? Is there another Betts out there I missed…
Not my guy from Beantown who I’d love roaming CF in the Ravine…
But then there’s Verdugo!!! Love to see him healthy and what he can do..

  21. Will Lux really get sent back to AAA? Would this be a good idea as some have suggested? This could backfire on the team as we will be in the same position regarding not having a positional player taking charge and we’ve suffered through that for some years, now.

Also, how would it affect Lux’s perceived trade value now for the future if he is demoted to AAA? He was a top prospect. It seems this would hurt the Dodgers chances of packaging him in a trade. Any insights?
