Breaking News

That got your attention, didn’t it?  Some days I simply don’t have time to write a post, because I have a full-time job that takes me away, but what I plan to do is to post a few relevant and important links:

  • Kershaw and Wood look good
  • We don’t really know what we have in Jose Miguel Fernandez
  • Pujols and Cano are advising Puig – This bodes well
  • Doug PadillaESPN Staff WriterThe Dodgers remain encouraged about LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu, who had another positive throwing session Sunday. “Ryu still has a smile on his face about how well he threw,” manager Dave Roberts said. “That was exciting. He said he feels good today.” Ryu has pitched in just one game the last two years because of shoulder and elbow procedures.
  • Why Utley Returned to the Dodgers
  • Why Kazmir Might Rebound
  • Grandal Re-Tools Righty Swing

  1. Hey Mark,
I am a long time reader/follower of yours. Not so much a poster. I am very happy that you have resurrected this site. It is/and was the best site for Dodger information and banter. I go here first for my Dodger info.
I like the no politics, religion, and non combative format.

    Good job!!!!

  2. Didn’t see your post about comments until today. Like the new site. Love how the discussion is about baseball and there are no personal attacks, peoples comments aren’t ridiculed (the Dope fiend move versus stoking conversation idiocy) and there has been minimal negativity. As a whole I like where the team is at. Left and right field will work themselves out and not every started will stay healthy. The Kazmir article was interesting and a reminder of how players try to play through injuries and how doing so can cause bigger problems, especially for pitchers.

Former Dodgers prospect Franklin Gutierrez sounds motivated about his opportunity to return to the franchise that gave him his start. “I’m back here and glad to be around a group of guys that want to win,” he said. “And I want to be a part of it.” The expectation is that Gutierrez starts in the outfield when the Dodgers face left-handed pitching.
    .

Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager has no problem with a “World Series or bust” theme this year: “Yeah, that’s always got to be the mindset. The goal at the beginning of the year is always to win a World Series, and if you don’t, it’s a disappointment. Last year was a disappointment. It was a good year but still a disappointment to lose.”

  4. So I hear the Dodgers will carry 12 pitchers. That’s not a surprise, with the 10 days DL, you can shuffle pitchers in and out like Grand Central Station.

  5. Yep – will be lots of tactical use if the DL & by the sounds of it, I’m imagining one lineup v LH pitchers, & another v RH.
This is the FAZ way, and a modern take on things. It’s hard to embrace in some ways, as we have all enjoyed being able to name the starters before a game, but have to say that it worked last year with lots of platoons.
I can see Hill & Urias being used sparingly if things are going well, in order to keep them fresh for the post season.
I think the full 40 man roster will be utilised. It’s not what we are accustomed to, but I can see the advantages. We must have the best collection of talent in the 40, and that’s not including the prospects.

    I’m really optimistic.

  6. I like Wood’s age; size, previous success with the Braves; and his unorthodox delivery. He could be as good as our #2. I’m starting to get my giants hate going again. Anyone else? Like I’ve said every season, we must beat them early and often. I still fear their starting 3. Melancon is legit. It sure would be nice if Puig were good; he could be a force that can beat the giants by himself. There goes that Hope creeping in again.

  7. The Lakers dismissed General Manager Mitch Kupchak, who served in the role since 2000, and Vice President of Basketball Operations Jim Buss, who was with the organization for 19 years, to promote Magic Johnson to team President! And so it beings!

    1. While Magic was not hands on with baseball decisions, as a member of the ownership group he had a good view into how the Dodgers worked to modernize their operations. One of the first things he talked about as the new President of Basketball operations was to find a GM that was an expert at the current NBA CBA and who also had strong connections with other GMs and player agents. His priorities reflect the way the Dodgers front office currently operates.

      1. It’s going to take a couple of years. They would be wise not to do it the way Guggs did it. They should blow it up and tank this year and next. It’s a great draft this year and they should try and get #1 picks. The Pacers might want Lou Williams.

        1. I enjoyed watching Lou Williams play and I think they probably could have won a few more games had Lou kept gunning and not deferred to the youngsters at the end of some games. I’ll miss watching him but it was the right move to move him.

  8. BTW, I happen to own LA LAKER TALK.com.
