First Year Impact Players – 2011 to 2020

March 25, 2021

The winter of 2010 brought some more changes to the Dodgers. Joe Torre retired from managing and Don Mattingly took over. The other main point was the now very public and hostile divorce proceedings between McCourt and his wife. So things were off to a rocky start.                             Colletti though had to put together a team and there were a lot of players who were free agents. He re-signed Kuroda…

RANDOM THOUGHTS ON THE CURRENT STATE OF BASEBALL

May 18, 2020

While battling with coronavirus fatigue as I navigate through the uncertainties in the legal world, I provide a short “Random Thoughts” post for your consideration: I will start by saying that I really hope that I’m wrong, but I do not believe there will be baseball this year. With guidelines for “opening up” society being such a moving target, I cannot envision any scenario whereby MLB and the Players Union…

My Favorite Duke Moment

March 25, 2020

The above picture of Duke, Andy Pafko and Carl Furillo is a snapshot of my all-time favorite outfield. I expect this is the case because it was my first outfield and all three homered on my first night of Dodger baseball which also gives me a way to trace my first game. But seriously folks, what should we believe about the Mookie Betts rumors? Well, believe this: Mookie Betts is one of the top 10 players in baseball. He’s way on the right side of 30. He’s a good guy. In…

What a Week…

January 30, 2020

Since my wife and I started US Systems in our garage 18 years ago, we have never both been able to be gone for more than 4 or 5 days due to the demands of it. However, in the past two years, we have hired 5 vice-presidents in Sales, Finance, Marketing, Engineering, and Operations from the corporate world. This is the first time we have been able to be gone…

Remembering Kobe Bryant aka/Black Mamba – LA Icon

January 26, 2020

We don’t talk politics or religion at LA Dodger Talk and it is extremely rare that we talk about… much less even feature, something other than Dodger Baseball, but today is one of those days (sadly). For those of us who are old enough, we will always remember where we were when people like JFK, Princess Diana, and Kobe Bryant died. I was in Waikiki heading to the Airport when…
