Romo and Hatch

May 15, 2017

It used to be Starsky and Hutch but now, there is a new crime drama showing at a Ravine near you, featuring Sergio Romo, a soft-tossing arsonist who likes to start fires from the bullpen and Chris Hatcher a talented flame-thrower who is an arsonist in his own right.  The crime is that they are both still pitching… OK, throwing. The drama is… when will it end? This duo needs…

Have We Learned Anything Yet?

May 14, 2017

The short answer for some is a resounding NO!  Thankfully, they are in the minority! One of you, sent me a comment from another site the other day.  When I read it I immediately knew who wrote it.  Of course, he is a FAZ-basher and he ended with “How long has it been since the Dodgers were in the World Series? You do know that every other team in the NL…

Is Dodger Starting Pitching More Questionable Than Others???

May 13, 2017

Ryu gets tattooed and now there is a problem with the starting pitching?  I do not consider Ryu anything more than a #7 on this team.  I have no idea whether Ryu would have pitched better with regular rest or extended.  Maybe his curve just does not work in Colorado.  I have no delusions that Ryu will be anywhere close to the pitcher he was before his shoulder problems.  …

Look At The Big Picture

May 12, 2017

As bad as the score was, Ryu was not bombed.  He gave up no HR’s – it was really the walks and wildness that did him in.  The Dodgers had the same number of extra-base hits as the Rockies.  Yes, he was out 10 days and yes, it was Coors Field.  Let’s not forget that he had not pitched for two years, so FAZ is trying to manage his innings so…

Beyond Puigmania… It’s CodyPalooza!

May 7, 2017

Do you really understand what the Dodgers have in Cody Bellinger? When I tell you… you are going to say that it is too soon to say that.  You are going to say that the league will adjust.  You will say it is too small a sampling.  OK… I know what you will say.  But, I am going to say it anyway!  Cody Bellinger is a once in a generation talent!…

The Definition of Insanity

May 4, 2017

We all know what it is – doing the same thing and thinking you will get different results.  The Dodgers bullpen did not lose the game last night.  The Dodgers lack of hitting is what doomed them. When you score only 4 runs in 11 innings against a pitcher who has an ERA of over 6.00, you should volunteer to go to the minor leagues.  Yasiel Puig is the best…

The Big Picture

April 28, 2017

I’m a “Big Picture” guy. I am not very involved in the Day-to-Day aspects of my real business (except as necessary), but am focused on “the Big Picture.”  I was intimately involved in building the business for 15 years, but growth demanded that I become the “visionary,” and not the “Day-to-Day” Manager.  Besides, I am not nearly as good at the day-to-day stuff anyway.  So, here’s the way I work:…

Wood Hammers Giants and Nails Start

April 27, 2017

Alex Wood is certainly making a case to stay in the rotation.  6 innings, 77 pitcher and 1 hit makes an excellent case for Alex.  If Maeda struggles on Friday, I would have Alex stay in the rotation. He was very impressive last night.  His pitch count is up to almost 80 and he can build on that.  I was impressed about Wood and depressed about the next guy I…

Starting Pitching is Overvalued…

April 24, 2017

Which doesn’t mean it is not valuable.  It’s just not worth the price. I can relate.  I drive a 2013 Ford F-150 XLT Supercab.  I could have bought the Platinum Series but it was $22,000 more and I thought that was overvalued, so I just drive the standard model.  Well it does have the twin-turbo 375 HP engine, so there is that.  But, it doesn’t have butt warmers and leather…

I Still Believe!

April 23, 2017

The Dodgers will win the NL West and go on the the World Series.  Some of you have already judged this team as lacking and are ready to throw in the towel and the baby and the bathwater!  NOT SO FAST! In case you haven’t heard, the season is 162 games long – that means there are 144 games left.  You can think what you want… and you will… but…
