I keep hearing that “baseball purists” do not like some of these newfangled rules. Let me translate the term baseball “purist.” It means “grumpy old men who don’t like change and are adept at complaining when there is nothing to complain about except that change is what they hate… because of course, they do.” There is nothing as constant as change in human life. Nothing says the same. It always changes or it dies. The NFL and the NBA have changed quite a lot over the years. In the NFL, the rules have changed immensely over the years.
