Pantone 294 in Houston?

May 24, 2021

Tuesday, the Dodgers return to the scene of the crime, as they take on the Houston ASStericks in Trash Can Banging Stadium. Clayton Kershaw goes against hired mercenary, Zack Greinke. I hope they beat him like a rented mule. This should be retribution. If there is baseball justice, all the ASStericks will collide behind 2B on a popup and have to be taken to a local hospital or funeral homes….

Understanding “Depth”

May 19, 2021

The Dodgers have amazing depth in their system, both at the major league level and the minor league level, so it leaves me a little puzzled when I hear fans berate the depth or lack thereof. Of course, those who do not believe in the depth are also puzzled when I say the depth is “amazing.” What’s the disconnect? Why did the Dodgers bring in players like Albert Pujols and…

Remember When…

May 15, 2021

The Dodgers couldn’t jump out of a boat and hit water? The Dodgers were 4-13? You all wanted to get rid of Kenley Jansen? Most of you wanted to get rid of Muncy? Gavin Lux had that scared “deer-in-the headlights” look? Me either! Clayton was very good except for the 3-run HR, and the offense did it’s job. Now, it is just Hurry up and wait for Bellinger, McKinstry, Price,…

History Repeats Itself

May 7, 2021

Minor League Report JoJo Gray struck out 10 in 5 IP for OKC in his AAA debut, but he also gave up 2 Runs on just 3 hits in what was a pretty impressive AAA debut for a young player. James Pazos relieved him and gave up two more runs in 1 IP, as OKC was shutout 4-0. Raley, Reks, Ravelo, and Burns each had a hit. Amarillo paid Tulsa…

Now – Let’s Roll!

April 29, 2021

Clayton Kershaw did not have his best stuff yesterday, but it was good enough to throw 7 shutout innings. I think he could have pitched another inning, but why wear him out. He threw a very efficient 90 pitches and his ERA now sits at 2.09. Those of you who wanted to anoint Walker Buehler the Ace will have to wait a while. Dodgers Starting Pitcher ERA & WHIP: Clayton…

I Love the Dodgers

April 17, 2021

After I went into the Army, it was hard to follow the team other than in the paper and the Sporting News. And especially when I went to Korea. Stars and Stripes was usually a couple of days or more behind in the scores. When I came home, and later got married, we would go to games whenever I came back to Cali on leave. Or we would go to the AA games in El Paso.

Dodgers On Track to Win 126 Games

April 11, 2021

The Boys in Blue are playing at a blistering .778 pace and have the best record in MLB, but it’s way too small of a sampling to conclude anything except that they are way talented and way deep and can win without two of their superstars (Belli and Mookie). After last night, the Nationals are now 1-4 and the Cincinnati Reds are beating other teams’ pitchers like a rented mule….

We are Closer to a Closer

April 10, 2021

Kenley is a proud man and if he loses the closers’ role, I could see him walking away… and the Dodgers agreeing to pay him to do that. You may or may not know this: But, when Andrew Luck walked away, Jim Irsay paid him $30 million that he was under no obligation to do so. This is just speculation and is way down the road, but it could happen.

He’s Back!

April 7, 2021

Bear said it best: Rumors of Clayton’s demise were greatly exaggerated! In the first inning, no one could blame you if you thought, “Uh oh, here we go again.” After a horrid opening day and a bad spring training, no one knew what to think, but he struck out three in the first and was masterful the rest of the way. His fastball hit 92.7 MPH at its fastest, but…

Get in Line for the Tattoo

April 2, 2021

It was an ugly game. Kershaw was bad (as he frequently is in Coors). His curveball had no bite. I am not worried about 91 MPH in the first game. But 91, without his curve, is an issue. Even Ray Charles can see that. This loss had nothing to do with Dave Roberts – he did not play an inning or have an at-bat.
