Just a few notes regarding MiLB, Dodger style. There is no significance to the order of presentation. Only one Dodger minor league game on Monday so I was really just bumming around looking for tidbits of MiLB. Dodger Minor League Affiliate Standings: Monday, June 28 Great Lakes Loons are in second place 2.5 games back of the Dayton Dragons. Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are in first place 1.5 games up on …
But Seriously, Folks
It was reported that immediately after the game last night a San Francisco Giants fan tried to blow up a LA Dodger fan’s car. He was not successful, however, as he kept burning his lips on the exhaust pipe. Well, if you are only going to get 5 hits, make sure most of them are Home Runs and the Dodgers did that last night. The bullpen again came through BIG…
Mark Who?
No not Mark Timmons, nor Mark Prior, nor Mark Fidrych, or Mark McGwire The Mark to whom I refer is right-hander Mark Washington of the Tulsa Drillers, perhaps soon to be of the OKC Dodgers. He was born in Glen Mills, attended high school at Episcopal Academy in Merion, and attended university at Lehigh University. All three locations are in his home state of Pennsylvania. He was selected by the…
Dodgers Need A Jolt
Welcome to my mind. Sometimes it works well, other times, not so much. But right now at this point in the season, it is very confused. All I heard was how great this team was, of course, that was before a rash of injuries derailed that idea. Gone for the season are Caleb Ferguson, who we knew was not going to be a factor after Tommy John. Then AF signed…
Time to Take Notice of this Guy
I had started a series of posts re: June is Busting Out All Over. June is still busting out but all of a sudden more difficult to follow. For whatever reason, the game logs and splits for minor league players are no longer available at MiLB.com . One day they were there, the next day gone. I have written to Jeff Lantz, Senior Director of Communications for Minor League Baseball,…
Getting No-Hit May be the Best Thing That has Happened to This Team
Being no-hit in baseball is humbling, humiliating, embarrassing, and in this case, it is a wake-up-call! Bear was right yesterday, these are not the 2020 Dodgers. This version is different from last year. Gone are the “all-or-nothing” bats of Kike and Joc who have been replaced by McKinstry and Lux. That has not been a problem. The problems is that the team has gotten poor production from Betts, Seager and…
These Are Not the 2020 Dodgers
Been watching with a lot of interest the comments of fans on all sorts of posts on social media. I have to personally believe that too many think this is last year’s team and that is not the case. Several key pieces from the Champs are now plying their trade elsewhere. Some key pieces of this team have not played enough to make an impact. How many thought back during…
It’s Never Clear… at least in the Beginning!
Kershaw was OK last night, and the bullpen did their job, but the hitters failed to deliver in the clutch. The Dodgers had 8 hits and 5 walks, compared to the Padres 4 hits and 3 walks. I guess this loss is on Doc, because if Austin Barnes had started, he might have won it with 4th HR. Instead Doc started that bum, Will Smith.
What Baseball Needs
What does this game we love really need? Interesting question. More action? More runs? Shorter games? MLB has tried numerous things to get all of these in play. And in reality, I believe some of all of these would be a good thing. I also think the game could use a few more personalities.. Players who are just a little bit out there. I would have loved to have a…
June is Busting Out All Over – Take Two
Last Thursday we acknowledged three minor league players who found their hitting stroke in June. – Jonny DeLuca, Ryan Ward, and Zac Ching. Since then Ward has four hits in 10 at-bats with two 3-run home runs in the same game. Justin Yurchak has had two more 2-hit games. Today, three more hot bats in June.
