…and the Beat Goes on!

April 23, 2021

Since last Friday, when the Dodgers beat the Padres 11-6, they have played five more games and scored one less run than they did in Friday’s game. When you average two runs a game, you are certain to have a sub .500 record and the Dodgers are 2-3 in those games. It’s a testament to their pitching that they have won any of those games. They won one game 2-0…

Cy Urias

April 21, 2021

For as long as Julio Urias has been in the Dodger system, there seem to have been rumors of trading him away. I railed against it! I was OK with losing De Leon, Oakes, Sborz, Montas, Holmes, and Cotton, but I felt that Julio Urias had something special. After all, he had at least four pitches and could control them very well. His curve was knee-buckling and his upper 90’s…

It’s Time for Dodger Baseball

April 20, 2021

Last night, Noisy was quiet, Raley was hitless in two AB’s and Rios continues to look lost. With just four hits in twenty-nine (29) at-bats, Rios is in danger of being optioned. There’s no room for underperformers. That is just one of the cold, hard facts. The Dodgers will still give him some time, but Edwin is going to have to earn it, just like Zach McKinstry has earned it. Zach just continues to do the little things well. He is 4th on the team in AB’s, so one would have to conclude that his is now a “regular starter.” He is actually hitting .381 against LH pitching so there’s no platoon here.

MLB Needs to Move the All-Star Game Back to Atlanta

April 19, 2021

This is not about politics. It is about the 2021 MLB All-Star Game which should absolutely be returned to Atlanta, where they planned to honor Hank Aaron in his “adopted hometown” of Atlanta. I know many of you want me to ignore what MLB did to Atlanta in moving the All-Star Game, but MLB is the one who made that racist decision. How is it a racist decision? It is…

The Price is Right

April 16, 2021

Here’s an interesting question: How many different pitchers will have saves for the Dodgers this season? The Dodgers already have three different pitchers with saves after Dave Roberts elected to use David Price in a save situation last night. It looked like a bad choice for a minute as Daza and Trejo both singled to start the inning. Then Trevor Story pinch hit and Price fell behind 2-0 only to…

What Have We Learned?

April 12, 2021

We are only 10 games into the season, so everything we are seeing is a small sampling, but right about now, everything we are seeing is “spot on” to what we believed this team could achieve. The Dodgers could have believed all their press clippings and came out of the gate slowly, but they came out snarling and ready to defend their title. They are now 8-2 and very well…

Dodgers On Track to Win 126 Games

April 11, 2021

The Boys in Blue are playing at a blistering .778 pace and have the best record in MLB, but it’s way too small of a sampling to conclude anything except that they are way talented and way deep and can win without two of their superstars (Belli and Mookie). After last night, the Nationals are now 1-4 and the Cincinnati Reds are beating other teams’ pitchers like a rented mule….

We are Closer to a Closer

April 10, 2021

Kenley is a proud man and if he loses the closers’ role, I could see him walking away… and the Dodgers agreeing to pay him to do that. You may or may not know this: But, when Andrew Luck walked away, Jim Irsay paid him $30 million that he was under no obligation to do so. This is just speculation and is way down the road, but it could happen.

I am Trying to Get Back to Dodger Baseball…

April 9, 2021

but, I don’t know if it will ever be the same. Baseball was always an escape from the troubles in the world and a break from politics that have become increasingly divisive. When Joe Biden was elected President he promised to bring the country together. Instead, he has driven it further apart, and nowhere is it more apparent that in baseball, when he “parrotted” the false claims of Stacy Abrams,…

Does Anyone Here Know How to Build Bullpen?

April 8, 2021

I’ll answer that with one word: NO! No one here has ever built a major league bullpen. I have not built one either. However, I have seen them built many times, and I believe Andrew Friedman knows how to do it. Feel free to believe that Dave Roberts just blew the game yesterday. If you believe it, it must be true, right? I mean, he brought Kenley Jansen in for…
