If this great nation never loses another life to the horrors of war, it may well be because we are sitting idle while the forces of evil destroys the freedom of others. My wish is we remain a force for good in this world, with much wisdom and humility.

George Washington Read, US Calvary WW1. Trenches rendered their use of horses. Alice Rogers Read, A good Indian. Or so it says on her tombstone. (you know the saying “a good Indian is a dead Indian”) To me, granny and grampa. They’re who I tend to think mostly on this day. Sadly I have many to think about everyday.

Regardless of your political affiliation (no politics) we are indeed a great nation because of the sacrifice a soldier, sailor, airmen or coast guardsman made long ago and still today. My father served in the US Navy for twenty years (Korea and Vietnam) and my father-in-law served in the US Army (Korea) and today my son serves a submarine warfare officer and is a graduate of the US Naval Academy.
I am grateful for not only their service and sacrifice, but that of all of the men and women who wore the uniform of our great military. God Bless America!
