Checking In

dodgerdenny suggested that someone send out a notice letting people know that LADT is back up and running.  DodgerBlueMom indicated some participants.  I went back to May 1 to see who has posted responses since the renewed start date, May 1.  There have been 29 different responders, including two that DBM mentioned: Cassidy and Bumsrap.  I know Bear regularly participates on another site.

There is not a lot of baseball going on, and writing about and responding to when the 2020 season MAY start can only be discussed so much.  Between 2demeter2, Harold Uhlman, and myself, we will do our best to come up with articles that are baseball related and relatively fresh.  As none of the three of us truly want to discuss COVID-19, most of what we write at this time without baseball will not be controversial to elicit much discussion.

I believe that as long as we are without baseball, many of the regular participants are going stay away until there is something to get excited about.  However, that being said, dodgerdenny’s point is well taken.  Therefore, let’s use this post as a check in for those who still visit LADT, even if they are not inclined to participate.

Secondarily, if anyone has a subject they would like to read and discuss, I know I would welcome any suggestions.  If anyone has a favorite “old-time” Dodger they would like to read more on, let us know.

So if you still come around but do not feel an urge to participate, just let us know you are out there.

  1. Good night, I send you a greeting and wishing that we can soon resume our lives, although I am not sure that I want to return to normality, since what we call “normal” is what has put us in this situation at the level world (At least that’s what I think. Good luck to everyone & patience.
And speaking of baseball, do any of you believe that if there is a season this year, regardless of the number of games, the champion should be given an asterisk?
Of course it will be remembered as the shortest season in history, but I mean that some want to belittle the champion for having played “only 100 games”
I’m not sure if it is clear what I am trying to say…

  2. I’m here, but while I love baseball, I have little to offer in the way of critique or analysis. I come for insight and information. Some of you are very knowledgeable and I appreciate all your efforts.
There is one issue that really bothers me, but very few others seem to agree. I don’t like that MLB struck a deal with MGM Entertainment regarding gambling. I am convinced that it threatens the integrity of the game. I think gambling is probably the biggest reason that MLB will not even consider vacating the 2017 World Series crown.
Okay, shutting up. I enjoy the site, very much. Happy that it is back.

    1. You are certainly not alone in those thoughts about gambling and why MLB will never vacate the 2017 WS championship.

  3. Sorry AC. I was just missing some of the posters that I enjoy reading their comments. As long as you and DC, 2D2, and Mark are here, happy and contributing, that is all that counts. Go Blue.

    1. Nothing to be sorry about. It was a good suggestion. I miss the posters as well. I am just not sure how many may not realize that LADT is still kicking vs how many just are not interested because there is no baseball.

  4. I do check every day and hope we soon actually have something to talk about. I hope the players union does not hold up the season because of pay issues but right now that looks like a problem.

  5. Jeff,

I’m curious, would your son have considered playing baseball overseas if he didn’t get injured?

I find it interesting that the most of the foreign born players in Japan, Korea and Taiwan are players most people never heard of. James Loney played in Korea and Adam Jones is playing Japan this year (8 million over 2 years) but this seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

I know some players like Josh Lindbloom went to resurrect their careers (and he did sign a 3 year deal with Milwaukee) but most seem to be players playing for the love of the game. What’s not clear to me is why most are fringe players at best. Any ideas?

    1. As I recall, there was some interest in him playing in Japan, but he wanted to stay in the US and keep trying to make it back. If he had not got injured, I think he would have stuck with Seattle. He would have probably been the DH, backup catcher and backup 1B. He just could play any longer.

  6. How bout this as a pressing issue that hopefully becomes a non issue very soon. Does anyone here have or know of a used car for sale?………cheap! Had just purchased a 2004 Altima that took a dump and the friend who sold me prefers to be an ex friend rather than returning so much as my 1st call to him. Pretty good indicator that he was well aware of the car to soon be an issue. At any rate, this is not a good time to be without transportation and thusly I am asking all of you who I can probably trust more that those who I personally physically know. Buy, sell or trade at LADT! Sorry……never mind.
