Freeland and Harlan Lead Affiliates Sweep

OKC Comets 10 – Albuquerque Comets (Colorado) 2

Another big night for 3B Alex Freeland.

RHSP Ryder Ryan was making his first starting since coming off the IL, and he pitched 2.0 innings, allowing a single and registering 3 K. RHRP Griff McGarry relieved Ryan in the 3rd and pitched a scoreless inning with 2 BB and 2 K.

Comets broke through in the 4thDH James Tibbs III drew a BB and moved to 2nd on a groundout.  Tibbs III scored on SS Noah Miller’s RBI single.

After RHRP Carlos Duran pitched a scoreless 4th, OKC put up 4 in the 5th.  With one out, Freeland singled and moved to 2nd on CF Kiké Hernández’s BB.  Tibbs III singled to score Freeland and RH Jack Suwinski slugged a 3-run HR (11).

LHRP Ronan Kopp took the mound in the 5th with a 5-0 lead.  Kopp got the 1st two outs, but then came a single and 2-run HR.

In the 6th, C Eliézer Alfonzo singled, and with one out, Freeland hit a 2-run HR.

In the 7th, with 2 outs, LF Ryan Fitzgerald and Miller singled.  Alfonzo doubled (6) home both runners.

In the 8th, Freeland hit his 2nd HR of the night (3).

LHRP Antoine Kelly, RHRP Keynan Middleton, and LHRP Jake Eder scratched and clawed their way to scoreless 7th-9th innings.

Tulsa Drillers 10 – Springfield Cardinals 6

LHSP Adam Serwinowski had an uneven outing.  He completed 5.0 innings, allowing 5 hits, and 1 BB, and 9 K.  His one mistake was a 1-out grand slam HR in the 3rd, giving Springfield a 4-0 lead.

OTOH, the Drillers were facing switch pitching Jurrangelo Cijntje.  Cijntje pitches with both hands depending as to what batters box the hitter is standing in.    In the 3rd, 2B Jake Gelof singled, stole 2nd, went to 3rd on catcher’s throwing error.  CF Kole Myers walked and stole 2nd.  Cijntje threw a WP allowing Gelof to score.

In the 5th, with one out, DH Kendall George singled.  RF Josue De Paula hit a 2-run HR (5).  SS Elijah Hainline was HBP.  SS Sean McLain would run for Hainline and would be thrown out at 2nd on LF Zyhir Hope’s force out.  3B Kyle Nevin singled, and C Griffin Lockwood-Powell followed with a RBI single, scoring Hope.  1B Joe Vetrano doubled (3) scoring Nevin.

LHRP Maddux Bruns got the side out in the 6th with a BB.  In the 7th, he lost all control while walking the first two batters and hitting the third batter to load the bases without getting an out. RHRP Kelvin Ramirez was brought in to relieve Bruns.  Ramirez retired the first two batters before walking in a run.  Ramirez struck out the next batter to retire the side. 

In the bottom of the 7th, with one out, SS Sean McLain singled and scored ahead of Hope 2-run HR (7).  Nevin followed with a solo HR (5).

Ramirez offered up a solo HR in the 8th.

In the bottom of the inning. 2B Jake Gelof hit his 5th HR.  Springfield’s pitcher struck out the next three batters, except De Paula reached 1B on a WP.  McLain singled and Hope and Nevin walking to force in another run.

RHRP Nick Robertson pitched another strong scoreless 9th to bring home the victory.

Another bullpen game with LHRP Justin Chambers as the opener.  He allowed a run in the 3rd on a single, BB, double steal, and run scoring  ground out.  In the 4th, RHRP Dilan Figueredo allowed a leadoff HR and a 2-0 lead.

The Loons got one back in the 4th on two BB and a RBI single by 3B Jose Izarra.

In the 5th with Figueredo still pitching, a run scored on a double, SB, and ground out.

With RHRP Davis Chastain pitching in the 6th, a single, WP, walk, and 2-run double gave the Whitecaps their 5th run.

GL got one back in the 7th1B Jose D. Hernandez singled and LF Charles Davalan was HBP.  DH Mike Sirota followed with a RBI single.

Going into the 8th GL was trailing 5-2.  1B Jose D. Hernandez led off with a single.  Hernandez scored on RF Samuel Munoz’s triple (1).  Izarra had an RBI single scoring Munoz.   Izarra moved to 2nd on sac bunt, to 3rd on a ground out, and scored the tying run on a WP.    Davalan walked and scored the go ahead run on Sirota’s single.   CF Eduardo Quintero drew a BB with Sirota moving to 2nd.  Sirota scored on 2B Nico Perez’s single.

After an opening K in the 9th, RHRP Alex Makarewich hit the next batter, and LHRP Matt Lanzendorfer entered and struck out the next two batters for the save.

RHSP Jesus Tillero completed 6.0 IP.  In the 2nd, Tillero surrendered a triple and single for a run.  Solo HRs in both the 3rd and 4th inning.  In the 4th and double, single and sac fly, and the Giants had a 4-0 lead.  Tillero did not walk a batter and struck out 4.

LF AJ Soldra and 2B Mairo Martinus led off with singles. With Soldra moving to 3B.  Soldra scored on a ground out.

In the 7th, 3B Emil Morales hit a one out solo HR (5).  RF Ching-Hsein Ko walked and moved to 3rd on DH Chase Harlan’s double (5).  Ko grounded out and Ko scored.

Trailing 4-3 going into the bottom of the 8th, Ontario put up 6 (2 earned).  1B Easton Shelton doubled (8) and scored on C Anson Aroz single.  Aroz to 2nd on throw and scores go ahead run on Soldra’s single.  Soldra was thrown out trying to get back to 1B. Martinus singled and moved to 2nd on errant pickoff throw.  Martinus steals 3B and scores on catcher throwing error.  Ko reached 2nd on LF fielding error. Ko moved to 3rd on Harlan’s single.  Ko and Harlan score on CF Brendan Tunink’s double (6).  SS Joendry Vargas singled to score  Tunink with the Loons 9th run.

With RHRP Jecsua Liborius on the mound in the 9th, he allowed a solo HR, but nothing else.
