Mark Timmons, longtime blogger about Dodger Baseball and totally unauthorized spokesman for the Los Angeles Dodgers, states that, beginning immediately, the Los Angeles Dodgers will compete in the newly formed “Little Sisters of the Poor Slowpitch Softball League” where they are expected to dominate some second-tier teams. Included in this softball league will be the Texas School for the Blind and Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home, who are both expected to dominate the aging, dementia- and injury-riddled Dodgers. The Dodgers hope to compete within three to four years. This was the first option for the Dodgers, who also seriously considered joining the Beverly Hills Wheelchair and Camel League.
DISCLAIMER: You are clinically insane if you believe any of this.

Sad state of affairs with the Dodgers these days and their $400 million payroll. Can things get any worse?
Always darkest before the dawn.
This too shall pass….
Just think a week ago today, after a sweep of the Reds we were riding high….
Better days ahead…
they could fall to second place!

PPP (piss poor performance) by both the Dodgers and Puds could leave only the NL West winner in the playoffs. Scary but possible. This team is losing confidence. Starting pitching has kept them in almost every game but the offense has not driven in runs. Can Doc fire them up? Not sure. Opinions?
I still want to know what that third out in the 9th pinch hit decision was that Doc made.
Rortvedt came into play the bottom of the 8th. Given the team was down 5-0, Roberts put him in to minimize the chance of Rushing getting injured. Made sense at the time.
I’m sure the team loves it when their manager gives up before it’s over. I would call that a case of over managing.
Nyah. The team is smarter and more seasoned than that.
Hindsight bias is still a bias.
Granted, but I was biased as soon as it happened.
Micro: Dodgers are anemic. Macro: Dunno, let’s talk at season’s end. So much of significance ahead, no way to know the team’s ultimate fortunes. The fat lady ain’t even clearing her throat yet.
Not ideal
Mark –
Thanks for the early mornong laugh! Dodgers are difficult to watch these days but being a fan since 1958 I am considering all explanations for the current state of affairs. The one I have glommed onto recently is that this is really a new AF strategy. The approach is to “go into a tailspin August through early-September” so that you can kick ass the last 20+ games to get the team ready for the playoffs!” What do you think….
You might not be far from right.
Earlier in the season, Mark lusted 100+ scouts, advisors, analysts and support personnel behind the scenes with the Dodgers. I can’t believe all these guys are on board with Doc’s decisions. Us fans have brought up lots of disagreements with the lineup. The pitching staff, The position alignment. Trying to wrap my head around why Ryan Ward has been banished in AAA. Along with the 50 steal and .290 hitter Esteury Ruiz. While we watch the inept Conforto and even the underused Justin Dean while we lose 5 outta 6 to a couple much inferior teams. Batting Ohtani first, our best run producer,, constantly stepping in with the bases empty. Playing Teo in right where he’s not even adequate. Then my biggest pet peeve is bringing in relief pitcher after relief pitcher that’s not dialed in and issuing free passes, that eventually blows our leads. Why oh why can’t they throw strikes ? Sooooo frustrating. It’s the time of year where we should be playing our best baseball and we’re not. We look laid back. Not focused. Overmatched..and sometimes uninterested. They’re hard to watch with so many talented veterans not playing to their abilities. I feel like shaking someone and saying “wake up !!!”. Do we need an overhaul of our pitching coaches and evaluators ???? For years and years our pitchers were the class of the NL. With so many top arms on our staff, we should have the best staff in the whole Major Leagues.
Geez, I tried editing my message and ran outta time. Sorry it’s so choppy.
I thought Mark was lusting after scouts!
I understand the frustration with Conforto. But I have to wonder why everyone is so high on Ward. No team seems to want him in a trade. No team has taken him in the rule 5 draft. His defense is worse than Conforto. I agree that Conforto should be DFA but I don’t think Ward is the answer.
I think what you are not considering is that the decisions may not be made from the bottom up…
Top down?
He might be not be far from right but I might be not be far from a genius…..yeah, NOT!
An “intentional” tailspin/losing streak is impossible and then miraculously pull out of it. Well, maybe pulling out of whatever bad funk they’re in IS possible but I don’t know what would do it. Certainly not words spoken or yelled at them.
EVERY. DAMN. SEASON. we see these unexplainable extended slumps then they somehow overcome them. Well, except for the 2023 post season when they got put on their butts because of their slumps (Mookie & Freddie!). That seemed to wake them up REALLY good for 2024. No real baseball fan expected a dominant waltz right into and through the post season even with this roster but c’mon guys! Let’s hope another 2023 post season slump never happens again.
That calls for a narrow window of success. And certainly not a certainty it can happen
Of course we all hope our gloom and doom will be proved wrong.
i know rojas is getting up there in age, but he’s probably the dodgers most consistent hitter right now. Injuries have taken their toll on a 100+ win team. going back to mookie at the start of the season. Max hasn’t been able to catch a break. Freddie,TeoEdman,Kim. it’s been hard for the team to overcome this. And the biggest disappointment of all, Conforto. Can’t blame AF. i really thought he was a great sign, it’s one of the worst free agent signings in dodger history. i just wish AF had cut ties earlier and brought in another outfielder. Move on! No team in the national league is unbeatable. so there’s no reason to not believe the dodgers can’t get back to the world series. after all, they play better against the good teams than they do against the bottom dwellers! Hopefully they can get at least 2 of 3 this weekend. … it’s kinda crazy how ex dodger castoffs pitch so well against the dodgers! …. Would love to have seen ohtani come up with the bases loaded last night. Can’t really fault Doc. Down 5 in the Eighth, does anyone out there think the dodgers would score 5 runs? i know i didn’t! hell i’m impressed they even scored!
Perhaps a ‘mistake’ for keeping Conforto all season, but when a deal doesn’t work out I don’t think you could call it a mistake. Just like Heyward or JD Martinez they could have been busts as well. However sometimes where these things come back to bite us is when AF resigns guys after 1 good year. Like Teo, Taylor, Heyward, and maybe Kike and Edman this time. Sure injuries a factor, but for whatever reason didn’t work out. Teo and Taylor extra bad because of multi year deals.
Don’t give up on Teo just yet.
He plays his best in big games….
If healthy
I am not preaching Gloom and Doom.
They just haven’t taken it seriously yet. Watch and Learn!

Glasnow scatched from starting and Ohtoni takes the mound
Is there more bad news coming on Glasnow? He really hasn’t lived up to his contract.
Manager Dave Roberts revealed Glasnow was scratched from his start with back tightness. The Dodgers are pushing him back for “a few days” and hoping he starts “early next week,” per Roberts.
Why does Conforto bat as high as 5 th .We are so stubborn and darn stupid. This is ridiculous.I don’t care if he starts hitting.I am so sick of this.I have never seen a first year player get this many wasted opportunities.
Is that Kendall George the same guy who didn’t reach his full potential at the beginning of his career? I mean, I read that he was a flop at the start. I ask because I just read that he reached 100 SB this season, and I don’t know if that news is true.
Kendell George has 101 stolen bases at A+ Great Lakes.
Wow!
