Looking Ahead

The Dodgers are the most dominant team in baseball right about now, but I am always looking forward to what will happen next year and beyond. Next year could bring some BIG CHANGES for the Dodgers. Let me list what I think they will be:

  1. Max Muncy will not be re-signed. He will be 35 this year and 36 next year. It’s time! Just ike Justin Turner, Max is going to decline.
  2. Miguel Rojas will retire and join the Dodgers front office or coaching staff.
  3. Michael Conforto will be gone by then… if not sooner.
  4. Kike Hernandez will retire a Dodger and go to work for the team.
  5. Mookie Betts will move to 2B, his best position.
  6. Dalton Rushing will become the Dodgers’ starting catcher. Oh, and along the way, he will become an All-Star Catcher.
  7. Will Smith will move to third base and work on this transition over the winter and in Spring Training. His bat will play there. He has become an elite hitter, but catching wears him down.
  8. Teoscar Hernández will move to LF. Andy Pages will move to RF, not because he can’t play CF, but because he is an elite RF’er, and Tommy Edman will move to CF, where he is also elite.
  9. That leaves SS to Hyesoeng Kim and Alex Freeland. I think Freeland will win the spot as Kim will be the “play-all-over” utility man. Elijah Hainline is also coming on fast – 22 year-old SS is hitting .300/.849 OPS between RC and OKC this year.

The Lineup will look like this:

  1. Ohtani DH
  2. Betts 2B
  3. Freeman 1B
  4. Smith 3B
  5. Rushing C
  6. Hernandez LF
  7. Edman CF
  8. Pages RF
  9. Freeland SS

Utility: Kim, Feduccia, Outman, ???

The key to this is Dalton Rushing, whom the pitchers love to pitch to and whose bat will be that of a slugger. He is very Muncy-esque. The Dodgers and all of his teammates are high on Dalton. Will Smith will be an All-Star third baseman (maybe not every year, but he will excel at that spot). SS is also taxing on Mookie. He is doing a great job there, but his offense is suffering. I could even see a move being made this year where Mookie moves to 2B, Conforto is DFA’d, and the outfield rotates with Kim and Freeland manning SS. If they are considering that, they should do it soon.

OK, let your heads explode!

  1. Max has a team friendly option next year for $10MM as I recall. I think he stays one more year. I don’t know why people talk of Will playing 3B. He last played 3B in 2021 (2 innings). He last saw significant time (80 innings) in AAA in 2018. After years of catching every day, moving to 3B is a tough transition and it’s not like he was ever very good there

    1. He played there very little, actually, but here is my rationale:

      1. He needs to stop catching like Craig Biggio
      2. He has a good arm, great footwork, and is athletic
      3. 3B would be open if Muncy is gone
      4. Rushing has to play
      5. If not 3B, where?

Oh, and I think Rushing will be a better catcher… no disrespect to Will.

      1. I agree Will needs to move off catching to lengthen his career. I can see him being a serviceable 3B but with reduced range. Frankly, that’s like Muncy – who is solid to occasionally quite good but with less than All Star range. In this BOTH are like JT was toward the end of his tenure with the Dodgers….but we all still miss the spark he provided. I can’t tell you how overjoyed I’d be to see the Dodgers hire him in some capacity after he hangs them up.

I see AF exercising Muncy’s option but looking to trade him at an opportune time to maximize return.

I agree Kiké will likely not be re-signed – fans will be upset. But I don’t see him retiring right away. There are still millions to be made on a 2nd tier team for a player of his abilities. Same might be said of Rojas though I THINK his loyalties lie with the Dodgers. We’ll see.

PS: I’m not sure playing SS is causing Mookie’s offensive troubles. Might be age, or his early season sever illness or a combo of both.

      2. Just guessing , Will Smith is a better athlete than Joe torre. I was young at that time but watched that moved especially reading ‘the sporting news,” what a great paper when it was all about baseball. I believe if. The Dodgers moves to third, eh would be adequate his first year and then be pretty darn good after that. Whatever the front office thinks along with management , Will could handle the third base down through =out the remaining of his contract

    2. That was my only disagreement as well. Cheap enough to bribg. Maybe shares time at 3B with Freeland or Smith

  4. Noah Davis Recalled, Luis García Designated For Assignment. Opens up a spot on the 40 man roster for Edgardo Henriquez This was the fifth consecutive scoreless outing for the flame-throwing Henriquez, who has pitched in eleven games in June, indicating that he is healthy.

    1. 06/29/25 Los Angeles Dodgers activated RHP Edgardo Henriquez from the 60-day injured list.
06/29/25 Los Angeles Dodgers optioned RHP Edgardo Henriquez to Oklahoma City Comets.

  5. After the All Star Break, there will be 65 games remaining in the regular season. Assuming Ohtoni has built up to 5 innings by then, a six man rotation will be fully functional. If all ptchers go at least 5 innings in the remaining schedule,Snell and Glasnow will only have pitched approximately 75 innings or less before the playoffs start IF they can remain healthy and injury free,a BIG IF. May should be removed from the starting rotation when both Snell and Glasnow return. Yamamota should take a trip to the IL for some R&R for some undisclosed injury after the Break to get ready for October baseball. Sheehan should definitely be part of the six man rotation.

  6. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Kansas City Royals will be delayed on Sunday for their series finale.

The start time is still TBD for the rubber match, but the tarp is out and the field won’t be ready for the 11:10 a.m P.T scheduled time for first pitch.

  7. Agree with most of that Mark, but I also believe that Muncy will be brought back for one more year at that price. He can DH and give Ohtani a breather now and then, and he could also spell Freddie at first. I like him better there than Kike. The deadline is going to be very interesting. I think LA makes at least 2 trades, a bullpen arm being one.

    1. Bear, I believe the Dodgers would play Rushing at first if Freeman needs a break. It will depend on the status of who is catching the majority of games. I have been rightly quoted that I thought Muncy was washed up but he had a great June. Hopefully Muncy continues to rake. If Muncy is hitting and Conforto can continue to hit our lineup is good on one side of the ball not so much on the other side of the ball. Something I’ve noticed, some of those bloops into right field the second baseman was able to get there. Now with all this new technology the second baseman can’t get there. I’ve watched many games and it seems as if Kim is the best I’ve best I’ve seen getting to those bloops over the first baseman. Of Course an adequate to a good right fielder would have been getting better jumps on the ball. Hernandez seems a bit slower in the outfield but the man can rake. As mentioned several times on these blogs, I wish in later innings we could put better defenders in the outfield.

    1. That sounds right to me. Max at $10m is a bargain. If Shohei is back in the rotation, he should rest more.
      How about:
Max needs a platoon partner. Perhaps that could be Smith. That would provide Rushing with more starts at C and give Smith a gradual transition to full-time 3B.
Mookie to 2B has been expected for a long time. Edman, Kim and Freeland would all be candidates for SS.

  8. I think the Dodgers will go for the Japanese 3B next year, so it would be very logical and appropriate to keep Muncy. Moving Smith to 3B could be an option only if they can’t get the Japanese 3B.

I read about signing Kelly before the SD series to destroy Machado’s head, and while I loved the idea, I’d rather have Tatis for that.

  9. one year contract for max? max loves being a dodger! i can see him somehow being a dodger for life , unless he’s not ready for retirement after next season. never thought i’d say this, but i really hope he’s back next year! …. caan we just scrap the opener. when justin wrobleski is scheduled to pitch? Damn , let him start the game! … the best i’ve seen yates all year! .. Dryer looked very incontroll today. flirted with a base on balls but came back and got the hitter. … rojas is hopefully ok. other than JW, he was player of the game! … Why doesn’t Doc just give mookie a couple of days off? he doesn’t look mookie like right now……. kike? i shut my mouth! big home run today! …… top 3 batters for the dodgers, 0. for ever! BUT, they still win with a good day from batters 4-9! … Hope they don’t take the white sox lightly. they just whooped up on the Devers led giants!!!

    1. Kike homered, but he is still down around the Mendoza line. If he was even hitting his career average, it would be better, but he is 31 points below that. If you would have told me that on June 30th, Max would have a higher BA than Mookie and more homers, I would not have believed it. Not sure what Doc’s thinking is. But he looks like he needs a breather. They won’t take the Sox lightly. The Robert Jr. rumors should stop now with him back on the IL…….again.

  10. Max isn’t going anywhere if he continues to hit the way he has. I can’t see them just handing Smith 3B. I could see them giving him some AB’s against righties next year so he can transition to the position and get Rushing more AB’s at catcher.

I agree Pages could be an elite RF. That move needs to happen THIS year.

      1. I do too. However, they’ve cleared out a lot of vets. $10 million is very cheap for them to bring him back. If he looks like Conforto then it’s easy enough to move on. Just ask Taylor and Barnes.

      2. What do you mean by sell early? Are you talking about Muncy? He has a club option for 2026. The Dodgers can simply refuse to exercise it and he becomes a free agent.

The only way he has tradable value is if the Dodgers exercise the 10 million option.

    1. They are going to use him to gather as much helpful information as possible about the Dodgers. Depending upon how bitter he is, that is the amount of info they get.

        1. Seems so sudden…
The Dodgers lead the West by 7 games over the Pads and 7 1/2 over the Giants.
Meanwhile, the ANGELS are just two games out of the Wild Card mix.

      1. Barnes has nothing to be bitter about. He never was a strong hitter and only Kershaw’s catching preference kept him a Dodger the last 6 years or so. Basically he held back a few minor leagers from ascending to the majors.

  11. I feel really bad about this comment but I’m hoping Betts and Freeman don’t make the all star team. I’m sure Freeman wants to go because it’s in LA but I think both of those players could use those four days with their feet up and just chilling. I do feel bad writing this post. Both players are deserving especially Freddie. And I’m pretty sure Freddie will be selected.

    1. I completely understand what you’re saying… and agree.

I think that if the Dodgers ditch Conforto (and if I had to bet, I would not bet against it), that Teo will go to LF, Pages to RF and Edman to center.

Mookie would have to be on board with it, but this would be a great time to call up Alex Freeland and see what he can do at SS. Kim can play there too.

All they have to do is say: “Mookie, you have proven you can play SS at a high level, but we need your bat and 2B will be less taxing for your old ass.”

    2. Little chance of that not happening. Freddie is the vote leader at first, and Mookie is just behind Lindor in the SS voting.

  12. What I cannot understand is that so many Dodger fans are up in arms that the Dodgers DFA’ed Luis Garcia!

I mean, the guy has been great… well, except for his 5.27 ERA, but his WHIP is 1.83 and the league is hitting .312 against him.

It’s time for some dumbass vaccine!

Yet, they hate Knack, and his stats are significantly better!

    1. Who wanted Luis Garcia to remain on the roster? The decision to DFA him was the right decision.

        1. If you’re going to those blogs where the typical commenter is a bro who wears his Dodger cap backwards and uses descriptors like “dawg” when assessing players, I would posit that that’s the problem, and would suggest you stop doing that.

      1. 13-year MLB veteran who has pitched for seven different teams, including spending 6 years with the Phillies and a couple in San Diego. His career ERA is 4.20. It was over 5 with LA.

  13. My two cents… Max will be back on such a team friendly contract. I agree that Smith will eventually be the third basemen, but probably not until ‘27.

Love getting another series win and would love even more for the seven game division lead to be pushed to nine or ten games by the ASG!

    1. Dustin May is not a guy that the Dodgers need to have back next year. They have several better and cheaper options. We saw one of them today

      1. Totally agree. May is too emotional on the mound when things start going bad. Watched Buehler pitch against Toronto yesterday before the Dodger game started because of the rain delay. Not good! What is going to happen to Bobby Miller the rest of this year and next year? Right now he’s on the Minor League IL.

    1. Great job by Wrobo.Lefties with that kind of velocity and 4 pitch mix are hard to find. Dodgers worked with him and the results are impressive.

  14. Wrobleski WILL be a starter, and again, a lot of Dodger fans are cursing the use of an opener… like they know more than the Dodger brass. Why have they used an opener for Wrobleski? I don’t know for sure, but maybe they feel he is too amped up as a starter. There’s some reason and I am sure he will evolve into the role of a starter.

    That said, “it worked.” Duh…

    1. Or they prefer for now that he not have to face the top of the lineup until he has a couple of innings under his belt.

  15. the opener thing? it’s ok if the “opener” doesn’t give up runs. if i’m not mistaken that’s what has happened last couple of games. … For the most part, Garcia played a part. he took the ball every time he was called on. seems like a nice guy. probably signs with the giants!…. good for barnes! but he was done . Dalton has the arm,the bat, the attitude. The catcher of the future! …. moving mookie to second base? will that really help him? playing shortstop doesn’t seem to be causing any stress for him. but maybe he could be happier at 2nd. Don’t believe he wants that move. but only mookie knows that. …. After all freddie has been through in the last few months, a family trip to the all star game is good medicine! Atlanta? Freddie? All star? nough said! Mookie? it’s up to him. eventually he’ll be fine! . but i like the ifea of calling up Alex f. for a breather for mookie! lets see the kid! …. any news on rojas this morning? can’t wait for Clayton on wednesday! the 3000 club awaits! may never see another one. Although if Skubal pitches 12 more seasons? probably not!

  16. River Ryan, Wrobo, Sheehan, Sasaki, Jackson Ferris, Nick Frasso, Miller.

I would anticipate Dustin May to get better next year. It takes a couple of years post surgery to really gain pitching feel, but I’m sort of over Code Red. His velo and spin aren’t really back.
The Dodgers have a lot of pitching talent in the pipeline. Still, he might be the last of the vaunted 2016 draft class. …correction…Will Smith was drafted in 16.

Speaking of Smith, I predict the discussion about him at 3rd is going to be repeated on a loop: Mark will advocate for the switch, dodgerrick will correctly point out his solitary game there in 2021, Bluto will be offended and curse the gods for making him endure a world of stupid people and their silly baseball opinions.

I doubt he gets moved to 3rd unless the Dodgers really think Rushing is the real deal. Still, though, it’s not the craziest thing ever. It’s not like the Dodgers aren’t used to below average defense at 3rd with Muncy currently there.

Either that, or Rushing plays left or is trade bait. I think to get maximum return on his trade value, he needs more time in the big to showcase his talent. Too soon right now.

Muncy, with his current performance since getting glasses, has earned the team option for next year. … and who here was saying he needed to be platooned? He’s crushing lefties.

SS wasn’t Kim’s best position in the Korean league. I don’t know that it’s an imperative that Mookie move off SS. He’s doing fine there. His arm strength isn’t the best, but I don’t think Kim has a cannon, either. This is all assuming Betts will somehow hit better at 2nd because the position is easier or something. No. Just have Kim gain experience in CF and SS so Roberts can move his chess pieces around.

I think Kike is back next year. He can play 3rd and 1rst, in addition to his outfield positions. Rojas is probably gone, but his defense and clubhouse presence will be missed.

    1. Picking up on this post, I’m super-excited to see what happens this trade deadline, it’s almost a Bizarro one.

The Dodgers have a surplus of pitching, they have Rushing, they have Outman and, if you listen to some here, Ward.

These are players who almost have to be traded, yet not much needed.

Could it just be a massive influx of lottery tickets?

      1. “These are players who almost have to be traded, yet not much needed.”

Yeah, I mean it’s pretty nice to not have to trade for a *checks notes* Joey Gallo. The Dodgers don’t really have an obvious need. Even the farm is loaded, though a farm system can never be too loaded.

Outman probably needs a change of scenery. Too early to trade Rushing. If he really is good, he needs time in the league to establish value. I don’t fully understand Ward. I’m sure baseball insiders maybe see some glaring flaw in his bat limits his prospective MLB offensive ceiling; and he’s old, and his defense sucks, but he is raking in AAA.

If there was at least some confidence his bat could translate to the MLB, you could almost see him as a Michael Busch, who’s defense sucks, and was old for a prospect, but nevertheless got the Dodgers a pretty damn good haul. It’s hard to imagine Ward has zero value, but I’m not a baseball exec.

If I’m AF, I’m thinking about where the next crop of superstars are going to come from to replace Freddie, Betts and perhaps Ohtani.

        1. Trading Rushing would be insane. They have no replacement who is as good as he is. Chuckie Robinson? Okey? Feduccia is not the hitter nor the receiver he is, and the catchers at AA and below are not all that impressive. Feduccia isn’t even listed as a catcher at OKC. They have him listed as an infielder. Robinson is getting more starts at catcher lately than Feduccia. I think Bluto has lost his marbles.

          1. Agree.

Rushing is now the backup catcher, which is an important position, and, as you highlighted, there’s no one else who can be.

Yeah, moving Rushing at the deadline would be insane.

          2. yes, I didn’t mean to imply he would be traded at the trade deadline. Rather there will be pressure at some point in the near future to move him, and I expect the Dodgers to train him. I wonder, as I posted elsewhere, if you could get a bigger return at the deadline or in the off-season.

          3. There is a catcher at Gtest Lakes one needs to keep an eye on. But I agree trading Rushing is nuts.

    2. I agree with you on May, I wouldn’t under sell him. I’d trade him as a #3 starter. If teams dont want to pay that price, I’d like to see them bring him back on a proven it contract. I doubt he would except it but we would get a draft choice 8f we offered him a contract.

  18. For those commenters (Mark) who are already anointing Will Smith the starting 3rd baseman position and Rushing as the starting catcher (because he’s already “better” than Smith after 18 games), and want to jettison Muncy and his team friendly option, here are some interesting stats to consider:

    Muncy currently has a WAR of 2.2, a wRC+ of 137 (100 is league average), a .255 BA, a BB% of 16.2 (4th in baseball).

You know who has similar stats?

Juan Soto has a WAR of 2.3, a wRC+ of 153, a .258 batting average, and an 18.3% – a little better than Muncy, but not by much.

If the Dodgers exercise the option for Muncy, they will pay him 10 million next year.

Next year Soto will make $61,875,000.

You’d have to be a moron not to exercise that club option.

And besides, now that Justin Turner is gone, Max is kind of the grinder, blue collar heart and soul of the club. I’ve loved Max ever since he went deep on Mad Bum and told him to go fish the ball out of the water. That was so fucking great!

    1. I’m one who supports the idea of moving Will Smith to 3base. His bat has become that important!

However, I do not believe we do that at the expense of foregoing Muncy’s team friendly option.

As Muncy heads into his late 30’s some sort of regression is to be expected. IMO, using next season as a transition year would be the better option. The Dodgers wouldn’t have to rely solely on a rookie to handle the staff. Smith could platoon with Muncy at 3base against LHP and catch remainder of his games.

Essentially, platooning with Muncy would allow Smith to “rest” without the Dodgers losing his bat in the lineup. While simultaneously providing the Dodgers a window of opportunity to see whether Rushing is truly that guy.

      1. I was wrong. I was quoted above as stating that Muncy was crushing lefties. Actually his BA is .150.

Like I said before, it’s not a terrible idea to transition Will to some 3rd base next year. If that’s the direction the team wants to go, have him work out at the position in the off-season and come to Spring training with some reps.

Explain to Muncy that he’s getting the Justin Turner sendoff, and will be platooning against some lefties. Try to get Rushing as many starts at catcher as possible.

This is assuming Rushing is a budding MLB star. He’s a prospect, and could be another Keibert Ruiz.

        1. Max is not crushing lefties, but he has been more successful against them of late. 2 of his last 3 homers came off of left-handers.

        2. Muncy plays a bit of an under average third base. It’s been a minute since he played second base. I’m not aware he can play an adequate position. So essentially what you’re playing for is a left handed third baseman that has bad splits. I THINK $10 million is too much to pay for his role. We need to start getting younger and letting go of some of the veterans that has brought championships to LA shelf life is creeping in. Quoting MARK but has been used on a number of occasions, it’s better to let them go one year to early than one year to late. It was heart wrenching watching Taylor and Barnes to go out like they did. I would think everyone involved would have like those moves in Feburary.

      2. Smith was awful at third and only played 54 games there total. His fielding pct. was .891. He made 14 errors in 124 chances. He would have to be told right after the season to start working out there. No way he could transition to a competent third baseman just during spring training. Max has just a 10-million-dollar option. As long as he is healthy, and is somewhere close to his career numbers, he is coming back. Why would they platoon Smith when they want him to be fresh when he catches? Makes zero sense. That is why you have multi-positional players on the roster. Rest at third? Nonsense, if anything the hot corner would be much harder on him than you might think. I can see Smith transitioning to first in a couple of years when Freddie retires or is not re-signed.

        1. You probably remember, but Pedro Guerrero hated playing third. He wasn’t very good at it, for one, but also, he said he had to think too much when playing third. He preferred the outfield where he could think about his last at bat and the pitcher a little more.

But yes, the notion that Smith is getting a rest at third, especially if it’s a new position for him, is somewhat fanciful.

You move Smith to third if you think Rushing is an All Star catcher. No one knows that, yet.

    2. I could certainly be wrong, but I think Max is a player who can lose it overnight.

      1. True, especially considering the violent nature of his swing, but isn’t that who he’s been regardless of his age? Everything has to be perfectly in sink; likely the reason why he is such a streaky hitter. One minor tweak in his swing and everything goes from feast to famine.

    3. Totally agree except using those two salary comparisons. All they do is prove how grossly overpaid Soto is and how lucky we are NOT to have him.

    4. Totally agree .Maximus has always been one of my favorites. He has been one of the best power hitters in baseball for 6 or 8 years. He is having a great year considering the terrible start. Why would we not want him back next year.

  19. So Barnes signs with hated SF. I guess they feel they can milk his knowledge of our guys to their advantage

  20. I don’t know if anyone mentioned it here before, but have you read what Bobby Witt said about Ohtani? He accused him of cheating.

Does anyone know if that’s true? I’m watching it on YouTube.

MLB is reportedly investigating Ohtani’s 102-mph pitch.

    1. No, forget it, now I’m watching another YouTube video about Judge dissing Ohtani for the All-Star Game.

  21. There is so much bullshit on the web that you have to verify what you are reading. Jorge is referring to some slimeball who makes shock videos which have no basis.

        1. The fact that people click on this and even think it’s remotely real and not a cynical attempt to hijack gullible attention spans is why this stuff proliferates.

Come on! You should be able to determine this is click bait within five seconds.

  22. If Dalton progresses like I am reading on this blog, and after the post-season concludes, he is considered ready to be the every day catcher, I would not rule out the possibility of the Dodgers trading Will Smith.

I know it sounds like a long-shot bc he’s so well-liked, a great hitter, and represents everything we like about the Dodgers, but he’s a man without a position and has tremendous trade value that could net the team a 3rd baseman or SS of the future.

No one is untouchable except for Ohtani, Betts and Freeman.

    1. They locked him up to a long-term and actually team friendly contract because the Dodgers thought he was an integral part of the long-term plans of the team.

I mean, with Ohtani’s deferred contract and proven ability to generate revenue by being the face of world wide baseball, could you imagine the haul in prospects he would get if the Dodgers traded him?

Seriously. Just because something is possible, doesn’t mean it is wise, probable, or not insane.

Dalton Rushing has played 18 games in the MLB.

  23. Catcher just wears down a player. Both Smith and Rushing could be elite hitters but playing catcher every day wears a player down. Witness Smith’s hitting every second half. Both are very athletic. Pick another position, I would say 3rd base, and let them platoon at 3rd and catcher. Both stay in the lineup and neither wears down. Move Max to second. He as several more years not just one.

  24. I think the key here is to keep Rushing up, promote Freeland no d and let the other chips to all where they may. Kim has 4 Gold Gloves, 2 SS, 2 2B, in Korea. Defense is defense, no matter what league you play in. MOOK is hitting 250, not superstar caliber and little guys wear down quicker. Live the guy but…..

    1. Defense is defense, but in Korea, the Gold Glove goes to the best hitter… not the best fielder as a rule.

  25. Will Smith will be 31 next year. I think he needs to move sooner, not later.

He can serve as the emergency catcher, but the Dodgers need to bring in a catcher to back up Rushing.

I am very high on Rushing BECAUSE he does not swing at stuff outside the zone. Mike Sirota is the same way. In fact, last week, Sirota had four walks in one game.

Now, maybe the Dodgers do not believe Smith can play 3B, but I think so.

    1. Vargas was instrumental in getting Kopech and Edman, so he deserves it!

  28. Ardaya had a Q&A ($$$$)
    https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6459611/2025/06/29/dodgers-live-qa-fabian-ardaya-trade-deadline-shohei-ohtani/

    on Ryan Ward
….This is not intended as a slight towards, him but he’s 27 years old at this stage, and by all accounts the gap between Triple A and the majors has never been wider…..

    On injuries:
“…I addressed this a little in our “The Pulse” newsletter recently, but the long and the short of it is this: the Dodgers did have an internal audit last year, and haven’t disclosed many details about what it revealed…. Two, the Dodgers invite this kind of variance just because of their spending power and risk tolerance. They’re willing to go after injury-prone pitchers because that’s what they feel is their best way to tap into high-upside talent. ….That, along with cluster luck (to be clear, not that the injuries themselves are unlucky, just the sequencing) have all contributed to the Dodgers getting obliterated by pitcher injuries….”

    On Betts:
“….That being said, him being at shortstop is still likely a short-term solution. He won’t be the Dodgers’ shortstop when the contract is done – that’s a safe, safe bet.

If you’re looking at it from a contract standpoint, the Dodgers have already gotten enough surplus value out of the deal. He’s produced 26.5 fWAR already to date, won two World Series, and financially they will be more than fine.”

also touches on runway from Michael Conforto, Otani’s being slow, walked, rushing, playoff rotation and a lot more good stuff

    1. If you read every word of that, your IQ will drop by at least 15 points.

      Immense Moronism is Rampant!
